From the article: "There have been multiple reports out of Michigan that Wolverines OL coach Greg Frey, who played for the Seminoles, is expected to leave for FSU."
So maybe ChatSports?
December 26th, 2017 at 12:44 PM ^
I think they were referring to the multiple posts on MGoBlog that showed Frey was leaving.

Football Scoop has long been the leader in coaching jobs scuttlebutt. I think it's safe to say that this is now at least a real possibility.

They have a decades-long reputation of credibility among the coaches themselves. Again, these guys are the BBC News of coaching jobs.

If (when these folks get things incorrect--as has every major media outlet that has ever done reporting) this ends up being incorrect I wouldn't be shocked if the information they have is accurate as we speak but ends up being incorrect (e.g. Les Miles to Michigan in 2007).
December 26th, 2017 at 3:20 PM ^
So even if they are wrong, they're probably right?
Do you own stock in footballscoop?

Name ONE journalistic institution that has a spotless rep.
December 26th, 2017 at 3:08 PM ^
He's the one saying he doesn't believe it because no site with an journalistic integrity has said anything about it. YOU'RE the one saying that scoop is reliable. It's on YOU to prove its level of reliability, not on him to show that there is some other site which is infallible.
Not that I'm not saying it might not have a reputation for reliability. But when its "source" is "other media sources" they'e basically saying Chat Sports, which is ridiculous to use as anything other than joke material/

This is the level of critical thinking that is largely missing from the American masses.

Who decides which site(s) have journalistic integrity when it comes to coaching jobs?
Him, according to him (and you).
All I'm saying is that Football Scoop has the longest and most accurate (relatively speaking) record when it comes to these things.
How does everyone know they're using Chat Sports as their main source? Because that's all everyone here has seen and, therefore, no one else could have more and/or better sources that just happen to agree?
And as far as logical validity is concerned, just b/c Football Scoop happens to get one wrong here and there, does that mean they aren't credible? Because "if ever incorrect, then no credibility" is the basis for journalistic integrity, then no source has integrity.

I see football scoop as the cleanest shirt in the dirty shirt pile that is coaching carousel news.
What I see is a lot of maize and blue colored glasses dismissing this as garbage b/c it's not confirmed by the AP, Reuters, CNN, and Brian Cook.
Football Scoop says flat out that all its sources are confidential, yet I find it interesting that everyone here assumes their source is Chat Sports b/c a) Chat Sports is garbage, b) Chat Sports reported something we don't like, and therefore c) anyone who reports something similar is garbage.
What if Chat Sports said climate change is real? Pfft, chat sports, now let's burn some fossil fuels!

Questionable source, but I won't be suprised if he does leave.
December 26th, 2017 at 3:43 PM ^
Me either. He's a partial O-Line coach here. Unless Harbaugh promotes him to the sole OL coach, I don't think he's here for very long. Especially if another top power 5 program like FSU is going to offer that job.
December 26th, 2017 at 10:50 PM ^
Not many position coaches make that much. He likes to turn HS TEs into OTs so that's a natural fit that Frey may like. I'm not sure that giving him even more players to coach is really a promotion. If he aspires to be an OC, experience coaching different positions should be a plus.

Which makes this very believable and wold not expect Harbaugh to get in his way due to that fact. Hopefully, harbaugh pulls a don brown and not a pep hamilton replacement.

Didn't Harbaugh attempt to poach a coach from David Shaw? If Taggert wants Frey as an o.c. I'm sure Harbaugh would have no problem with him leaving.
