Unless he gets in before Friday, he's probably coming after Mustafa Muhammad

MOAR OL who can block for the RB's we already have!
October 17th, 2017 at 3:39 PM ^
looks like AJ Dillon the way he runs between the tackles - which begs the question, WTF?

Meh... I could care less.

Then they've already won.

Um, it's I couldn't... oh... wait.
October 17th, 2017 at 4:37 PM ^
And by literally, i do not mean figuratively. The now official second meaning of the word literally thanks to millenials.
October 17th, 2017 at 6:28 PM ^
This one drives me bat-shit crazy. I always correct someone (jokingly) when they use it wrong.
"OMG, it was so crazy! My head literally exploded!"
"Are you sure? You look fine to me."
Or, if they're a Python fan...
"You got better..."

"Misuse began gathering legitimacy by 1839, when Charles Dickens wrote in Nicholas Nickleby that a character 'had literally feasted his eyes in silence on his culprit.' Before you knew it, Tom Sawyer was 'literally rolling in wealth,' and Jay Gatsby 'literally glowed.' Come on, the guy grew up in New York lake country, not a New Jersey toxic waste dump.
Thus, "'literally' has been misused for centuries, even by famed authors who, unlike youngsters posting duckface photos of themselves shot in their bathroom mirrors ('Your 2 sexy!'), had a good handle on the language."
October 17th, 2017 at 5:19 PM ^
I don't know, how long did it take 'literally' to literally get it's definition changed?
October 17th, 2017 at 8:50 PM ^
Does it though?
> Haskins looks like Dillon
> Because of the way he runs between the tackles

these days is "so-and so was based off..." - the phrase is "based on."

Of all the pet peeves I've got, this is among the biggest.

I'm amazed at how many people use "jive," like "these numbers don't jive." Jive is slang, as in jive talkin'. Jibe is the word.

Yes - rhymes with jive. Derived from a sailing term, I think.
:to be in accord :agree —usually used with with
- a story that doesn't jibe with the facts

Not gonna lie, I'm a fierce attacker of could care less, death nail, intensive porpoises, etc., but I didn't realize that one. Thanks.

So you contend that this generic 3 star recruit with a purdue offer is better than a true freshman that just ran for 272 yards and 4 TDs on 38 carries against Louisville?

My personal favorite Zappa quote:
"Look, you either get it or you don't. I'm not going to spend my whole life explaining myself."
October 17th, 2017 at 4:59 PM ^
...I never really got it (his music anyway).
But he was an extremely smart, talented and interesting guy, and had a ton of talented musicians around him. I am a Steve Vai fan and every time I see him interviewed, he has some different crazy story about Frank, which always entertains and/or provokes thought.
October 17th, 2017 at 5:06 PM ^
My father (who I had no idea even knew who Frank Zappa was) had an astute quote about him once: "He makes sounds nobody has ever heard before."
Underneath all of his off-the-wall satirical stuff, he was a serious musician.

His only other P5 offer is Purdue.

Seems like the coaches don't think we're really in on any high rated RBs for 2018 hence Turner and Haskins?
October 17th, 2017 at 3:52 PM ^
Are most of the top recruits getting paid? Like for real? Because I feel like we should be in on a lot more top guys than we are every year.
October 17th, 2017 at 4:07 PM ^
Somewhat like Beilein (although basketball i KNOW is dirty) you'd think Harbaugh and his track record of getting guys to the NFL would translate better recruiting. It blows my mind when OSU under Meyer (great coach but spread to run) can gradb five star QBs & TEs when they clearly wont get featured in the least in his offense.
Makes me wonder just a bit about our coaching staff to be honest. Not the big guy but the folks that report to him. Maybe the allure of being coached by Jay Harbaugh, especially at RB, isnt as enticing as we would hope. Let's be honest with ourselves - #17 composite is not very good.

Dont think you can blame Jay Harbaugh for the 2018 RB crop.
October 17th, 2017 at 4:25 PM ^
Wouldn't it makes sense to take a balls to the wall approach to recruiting every year?
October 17th, 2017 at 4:42 PM ^
but some years the draft isn't really that deep. So in that case you target specific needs more than just percieved flash.
Im not saying this years crop of recruits isnt very deep. Im not really qualified to make that assessment. But maybe the top level guys just dont excite the staff as much as the star grade systems would indicate they should.

Alabama and Georgia are tied for 44th in the rough composite right now. It's early, and one smaller, lower ranked class between 2 monster Top 5 classes is fine.
EDIT: In the updated 247 composite, Georgia is #12, Michigan is #14, and Bama is #24.
