Former Assist. Dir. of Enforcement at NCAA now with Bama BBall gets pinched

Because, of course he does!

I hear Bama has a "fantastic" engineering program... <lots of sarcasm>

Da'Shawn Hand in 4 games this year:
8 tackles, 0.5 TFLs

Oh, that's so mean.
I like it!

Yeah, but remember he has a bitchin Camaro that is so comfy that he can sleep in the driver's seat!

In my unprofessional, untrained eye, he looks a half step slow off the ball at the snap. Also playing some LB this year...at 280lbs.
However...in defense of him, (as a friend) Gary & Hurst lack of Winovich-level stats, don't mean they aren't effective.

cool story bro

on his athletic talent alone. He's spent time at 5 positions at Bama. He might not be an all time great, or have huge numbers, but if you watch him play, he's disruptive and powerful. Also, I'm sure this has nothing to do with him not choosing Michigan.

The irony is that this looks like a Kentucky shirt.
Don't they know they're in the other bracket?
I'm going all chalk with the FBI.

Rock, chalk, . . . oh, never mind.

His job probably wasn't so much a basketball administrator, as a football rules 'interpreter'. I'm sure he counseled on football matters moreso than anything bball related. But it's a good cover title!

Alabama BB is horrible and they get pinched. And yet the football program is crushing it and thus far hasn't gotten busted.
It's like the equivalent of the rebel sibling getting away with everything and the somewhat nerdy homebody sibling getting nailed to the wall for a relatively minor infraction.

Alabamas basketball program is the scapegoat for their football program. Duh!

For someone who formerly worked as one of the NCAA rules cops to be caught up in this, on the heels of the bombshell dropped by the feds Tuesday, hints at the profound credibility problems facing the sport.
Um, yeah.

The 2018 NCAA tournament is only going to have 2 brackets in it.
John Beilein will make the Final Four just by showing up.

I do worry a little bit about Adidas re: football. No concerns about the basketball program, even with the Adidas ties.
The most interesting thing about this is the source of the money -- it's from would-be agents, financial advisors, and apparel companies -- it isn't from "boosters" like popularly believed. And it's used to buy influence with the people closest to the players: coaches and parents. It's not paid directly to players. It's not even clear how much a 16 or 17 year old would really know about what the adults were doing. Other than being told to keep his mouth shut.
My favorite fact is that one of the two central figures who set the investigation into motion is a former referee...

There isn't, and probably can never be, a football equivalent of Michael Jordan as a marketing rep.

I love how the AD says that the FBI report prompted alabma to take an internal review of their program, which produced the resignation. It sounds like they've been waiting for the shoe to drop since they hired this guy. Either that, or they already received word about what was coming down and knew the guy's name was coming out. Either way, will be sad if Avery Brooks gets taken down.
September 28th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
Didn't the FBI start making this public on Monday/Tuesday? That's one fast ass internal review....either they have the best researchers money can buy, they found something very dirty very fast, or they knew in advance.
September 28th, 2017 at 11:19 PM ^
They weren't discovering facts, they just reviewed facts they were already well aware of and decided they'd better take pre-emptive action. There's no other explanation.

should not start in September.

Is now resigned Kobie Baker any relation to Rachel Baker, formerly of NCAA enforcement then to Kentucky?

In light of certain events..... this year's march madness tourny will be bracketing 32 teams, down from the usual 64.
