After a long battle with Alzheimer's, country and cross-over music star Glen Campbell passed away today at 81.

One of my first memories of music I listened to as a kid....
Just a Rhinestone Cowboy.... RIP Glenn
He played the guitar on the Beach Boy's Pet Sounds. Even his sad songs made me smile. RIP Glen.
His family had to walk an extraordinarily tough road the last several years. I did admire that he handled the cards he was dealt with grace.
one of the best, and most underappreciated, guitarists of all time.
Prior to his fame as a performer, he was a session musician for "The Wrecking Crew" in Los Angeles. So his guitar skills were real. Netflix at one point had a documentary on the Wrecking Crew. Great documentary if it's still available.
One of greatest session guitarists ever. Saw him at Pine Knob right before his rhinestone era. He played the bagpipes that night, would make a Scottsman weep.
RIP Glen, say hey to John Hartman.
I did, thank you for correcting me. I'm ashamed of myself now.
There'll be a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me...
nobody got hurt, he died today, & you want to drag his name through the mud.
The best thing I got from this story was that he sang Rhinestone Cowboy in his jail cell.
fail to be perfect.
Or perhaps it's how dare everyone but you be human?
Does the phrase "Get over yourself" apply here? I think it does.
If your judgment of Campbell's body of work and contributions to music is based on this, you need a hobby...or new priorities...or perspective. Maybe that last one first.
Battled his affliction for many years. He made his fight public and helped raise awareness. 50% of us stand a chance of experiencing mental attrition as we age. Now there's a cause to rally behind.
Look him up, and thank me later.
Anyone who played on "Pet Sounds" is alright by me. One of the all-time great American rock n roll albums.
Taking his affliction and battle with Alzheimers public showed that he indeed had True Grit.
Very talented musician. His commercial success only showed one side of him. There was so much more.
"Wichita Lineman" was alwaya one of my favorite country songs. It was one of those songs that kind of just made you slow down for a few minutes and appreciate the moment of good lyrically written song.
Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get to Pheonix, Gentle on My Mind, ...
Thanks for the memories, Mr. Campbell. RIP.

Folks have been saying that about the previous generations music since the dawn of time.

to check out his music. He was one of the original cross-over stars to mix country and pop. If you've never heard of him, you definitely missed out. I'm 48, and as a kid in the 70s there was a wide variety of music. He stood out, and influenced a LOT of artists.

I just happen to be driving to Phoenix today. Thanks for the songs, and the memories Glen. You more than anyone enabled me to appreciate some country music. You were, and are, a classic!
