It's too bad that the Circus Maximus is not still standing. It held about 150,000 in its day says wikipedia

That's more like Talladega than the Big House though.

We are going to be flooded with place kicking prospects after this trip....

Are you sure it wasn't ROMEO? They could pitch in and fill the sinkhole as a team-building exercise.

serious question...can the University of Michigan establish a "satellite" campus somewhere in the south? Offer one class per year there, install a football field. hold practice there whenever you want. BOOM.

UM literally already has two satelite campuses, in Dearborn and Flint.

I know the Business School has classes in LA and DC as well as India. Not sure how they are categorized.

Create a kinesiology or general studies satellite campus in FL, GA, TX, AL, CA
One building, classes during peak recruiting times only. Suck it NCAA.

UM has owned Camp Davis in Wyoming since the 20's. Originally for surveying when CE's did that sort of thing. Now they hold geology classes there.

Wyoming's not quite a football recruiting hotbed, but it must be possible to establish a facility in another state?

The University of Michigan - Mars Campus. Our recruiting goes intergalactic...

They painted themselves into a corner by falsely framing their argument as being for the kids. The kids are still, obviously, being victimized here. I can't imagine how much shame and embarassment I would have felt to be given a free trip to Rome as a teenager. I mean, the fucking audacity.
Long live Freeze, only man who's man enough to try to protect these poor helpless little bastards...

To be fair, they went to Europe right after the school year ended. Their season went all the way to the Final Four, and then they had to go home and take finals, and then go to Europe for a few weeks. They didn't have much of a chance to rest.

I agree. Which is kind of why I'm a tad disappointed if true, but only because I was hoping it would seriously piss off both the SEC and the NCAA to the likes of which we have not seen yet. Other than that, this is a pretty exciting opportunity for the players and is indeed pretty awesome.

You do all realize spring break is before august 1st which is when the rule goes into effect right? This isn't working around the new rule at all, its just before it goes into effect.
January 20th, 2017 at 2:20 PM ^
Yep, which is why I wish he would have saved this one for next year if true (and was still able to work through the kinks to make it happen).

I would. Wasn't the camp ban overturned because it would hurt the smaller schools? Right now I can't think of a way this has an impact on smaller schools. They wouldn't have the budget to pull off a trip like this anyways.
January 20th, 2017 at 3:32 PM ^
Camp ban was overturned because it violates interstate commerce regulations on the rights to free trade. Not even the NCAA can violate a workers right to make money.

I think you're mistaking the argument. It isn't about the players being defined as "workers", which they are not. It's about coaches having the right to make a living as they see fit.
January 20th, 2017 at 2:15 PM ^
Maybe the flight will have a layover in SEC country.
January 20th, 2017 at 2:16 PM ^
Alright, suck on that, NCAA.
