Should have poured some out for one of the greatest.

RIP. We'll all raise a glas of iced tea and lemonade tonight.

The Simpsons new season episode makes a specific joke referencing Arnold Palmer - it aired tonight.

Well we had a relatively quiet summer and then 2016 realized it didn't have much time left and decided to start swinging again. Arnie was certainly one of the true gentlemen.

I met Arnold Palmer at a golf tournament in Virginia back around 1995 or 1996. He was in a golf cart, and a group of us were nearby. He motioned for us to come over, so we went over, shook his hand, and chatted for a bit. True gentleman.
News of this saddens me. The world has precious few good men like him. We now have one less.
September 25th, 2016 at 8:56 PM ^
Gonna pour one out tonight.

Yeah, I share the sentiments of the OP - 2016 can throw in the towel any moment now. So many people of note seem to be passing, and now sadly Arnold Palmer is added to that list.
RIP "The King" - on the course and off it, always classy and forever a legend.

RIP Arnie.

Not the greatest but he is the reason a golfer can shoot level par over a year and earn $5MM.

I was shocked to hear this news. He is/was/will always be an amazing person that positively affected the lives of many. He will be missed. RIP Arnie

Palmer was my parents' favorite. And the most refreshing drink I've ever had in my life was after a disaster of a round on a hot summer day at a course in Wisconsin, an Arnold Palmer.

A part of golf history gone. Looked for story on ESPN website. Nothing!!???
September 25th, 2016 at 9:33 PM ^
ABC News website (same parent company, Disney) has it on their website, so I wonder why the delay on a sports site. Especially consider it's the "Worldwide Leader".

answered every request for an autograph that was mailed to him spending north of $100k a year just on postage. He also wrote his name carefully because he belived that if a fan wanted his autograph, he deserved to get one that can be read.

My Dad was a huge fan. When I was a little kid he'd tell me Arnold Palmer stories.

for me he was one of reasons I had a passion in playing golf, him, Tiger Woods and Ben Hogan were the golfers that got me interested in the game.

Jack may be considered golf's greatest champion, Arnie was golf's greatest gentleman.
