Bruce Feldman predicts Michigan - Iowa in B10 Title Game
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/gallery/cfb-preseason-picks-p…
He also has us going 11-1 and OSU at 9-3 due to their inexperience.

Not sure why, but I like his analysis and articles. He doesn't seem to be a homer.

Bruce is one of the best in the business. He always seems to look at things logically. I rarely, if ever, hear him inject a personal agenda. He's probably my favorite national writer at a major network. I can't believe he's bounced around so much.

"I can't believe he's bounced around so much"
It's a matter of journalistic integrity. He has it. His bosses usually don't.

It's peanut butter Harbaugh time!!

Does that mean I have to change my name?

Who the hell would downvote The Sting??
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

kid, I think you have to at least entertain the notion that people are downvoting you, not Paul Newman...
I've had a few exchanges with you that were less than pleasant or very informative I believe. So that may have had something to do with it?
August 24th, 2016 at 4:56 PM ^
Really? Cuz I don't remember you in the slightest...
Well I'm glad some of our exchanges have been very informative for you!

and then Iowa dies of bad water on the Oregon trail leaving Michigan to become champions.
August 23rd, 2016 at 10:32 AM ^
Are they stupid talented? Yes. But only having six returning starters is tough to overcome. And having to play at Oklahoma, at Wisconsin (which could be a desperate team by then), at MSU, at PSU (likely at night, and is never, ever an easy place to win a game), and then playing us to close out the season, it's not totally inconceivable to think that 1-3 of those games could be losses.
I'm betting against them in Oklahoma anyway.

Agreed. Seems like all B10 previews fall into two categories of "Will OSU reload" or "Will OSU be inexperienced", which I think is fair.
Urban's history suggests the former. General logic suggests the latter.
August 23rd, 2016 at 10:42 AM ^
They certainly have a difficult schedule. Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Penn State are all night road games. Their second to last game is at MSU and that could be a night game, too. Right now it is listed as TBA.
August 23rd, 2016 at 3:57 PM ^
Let me see if I understand this - either that prediction says osu will have 2 conference L before we play them, while we're undefeated. And then we lose to them in a game that, while not meaningless of course, at least the outcome would have no bearing on the B1G Title.
Or, we both have 1 B1G loss and we beat them in Columbus to clinch East.
So if I'm reading some comments on here correctly, people would prefer we lose the game to osu rather than have already potentially lost a game to msu? Am I getting this right?
There's your #1 thing that separates those of us who left the state vs those who still live there, or those of us from the era of the 10-Year War vs those whose memories don't go back before 2008.
I cannot foresee a circumstance ever coming where I'd think msu was a more important rival than osu. And I don't want to!!!

August 23rd, 2016 at 7:58 PM ^
Perhaps not. But if we do, one thing's certain: Nobody here with hubris on the matter will take their medicine and if you call them out on it, people will defend them and say "hey, that's just what we're supposed to do as fans."
In other words, predictions are truly worthless in an environment where homerism is the norm.
August 23rd, 2016 at 10:39 AM ^
I hope OSU goes 9-3 (or worse), but they won't. Potential losses are Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Penn State, MSU, and Michigan. I am predicting they beat Oklahoma, Penn State, and MSU. Wisconsin and Michigan are toss up games.
August 23rd, 2016 at 11:07 AM ^
You think they win their first road game (in Norman) vs. a top-10 type team but have a toss up vs. a rebuilding WI team? I don't understand the logic. I'm not saying that can't happen but on paper, the Sooners look much tougher in Norman than the Badgers in Madison. The earlier in the season, the harder for Meyer to work out the kinks and get experience to his raw talent.

Just don't be surprised if OSU beats Oklahoma. I fully expect it to happen.
August 23rd, 2016 at 1:27 PM ^
The point of interest is why do you expect that? Just feelings ball? Inside info on Baker Mayfield?

Too many times, people make this season's predictions by remembering how everyone played at the end of last season -- and assuming that teams that didn't lose a lot of players are presumed to be as good as last year. Happens all the time with NFL predictions, for instance. A lot of prognostications are basically last year's playoff teams, with like one or two changes -- but in fact, just aboot every year, the NFL has almost half of the playoff teams being different from the prior year.
I think the B1G West is a lot like the NFL in that respect. A lot of balanced teams, no one is particularly great, only a couple of real dogs, and everyone else can beat everyone else "on any given Saturday." Iowa won a lot of close, low-scoring games last year, and really avoided the turnover bugaboo. They basically outlasted a lot of opponents, as opposed to outright beating them.
The law of averages is going to catch up to the Hawkeyes. They certainly won't go undefeated in B1G play this year (see: we're on their schedule), and I just don't think they are going to win every close gamea gain.
I'll pick Nebraska to win that division--but if you told me FutureMan told you that [Minnesota / Wisconsin / Northwestern] won the division this year, I wouldn't be surprised either.
August 23rd, 2016 at 10:43 AM ^
Because it sure as hell isn't going to be MSU, and he has us beating OSU and going to the title game. Iowa maybe?
August 23rd, 2016 at 10:45 AM ^
At the top he says we'll beat OSU. At the bottom he says we'll beat Iowa for a second time in the Big Ten Championship game. MSU or a random slip up along the way. Either way I'm good with 11-1 and a Big Ten Championship.
August 23rd, 2016 at 11:00 AM ^
And we did often derp a random game during the Bo/Mo/Lloyd years that we had no business losing.
11-1 will get us to the playoffs.
August 23rd, 2016 at 8:00 PM ^
This uniform confidence for a road game against a preseason top 15 team is absurd. Some might even call it unfounded arrogance.

August 23rd, 2016 at 10:47 AM ^
Maybe I missed it- but did he say which game he predicted us to lose?
August 23rd, 2016 at 11:26 AM ^
OSU and MSU don't take a step back? You don't just plug in guys who are going to be as good as Lee, Bosa and Elliot and Decker at OSU. Even Bell at safety was pretty good. Yeah they have good players but those guys were elite players.
Msu don't get me started. You lose your Qb and 1st round lineman and a great player on D. Sorry they barely beat us and lost a lot.

We've been wrong because we were hoping that Brady Hoke teams were going to turn the corner. Instead his teams became softer and softer. I agree that there is a lot of reservation from the fanbase becasue we've been let down so many times. However, I can't be that reserved with a Jim Harbaugh team, too much evidence to prove otherwise, too many things pointed in the right direction with this roster. We're taking down MSU by at least two TD's and OSU by five to seven points.
August 23rd, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
On one hand, I agree with you about MSU, but based on their results over the last 4-6 years, there's no evidence that they will take much of a step back. Dantoio's a great coach, and MSU isn't going anywhere until he hangs it up. I hate to say it.

People have been saying "MSU is going to take a step back this year" or "MSU is about to fade back to the middle of the pack" since at least 2009 and it's never really happened. Same thing with OSU for the last 2-3 years.
They're well coached teams and solidly built programs at this point. I'll believe they win less than 9 games in a year when I see it
August 23rd, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
close the gap this year with their losses for atleast this season. I think we have the horses to beat MSU and make OSU a game this year. I don't think either one is losing 3 games but we can beat both of them.
August 23rd, 2016 at 12:26 PM ^
taking a step back until we beat OSU and MSU.
But seriously, any semi-objective observer has to conclude that both teams won't be as good as last year. If that means one more loss or four more losses is up for debate, but neither team is going to be as good (or lucky, in MSU's case) as they were last year.

MSU is going to lose 3-4 games this year, book it. Get ready to believe.
August 23rd, 2016 at 8:02 PM ^
And if they don't no one on here will hold you to your words because they'll be in "MSU will fall back to the pack next year" mode, which has been the MGoCompanyLine since 2010.
