Which players that are not currently receiving any hype that you are most excited to see?
For me on offense I am most excited to see the progression of Ty Isacc, If he has improved on his spring performance I think he can over take Smith and may be our next 1000 yd back!
On defense I have to go with Dymonte Thomas, he brings more athleticism and speed to the free safety position than we had last year, and if he is able to be as dependable as J. Wilson was last year, he could be all conference!

McCray...I have no idea what to expect from him. He could be a very good starting linebacker, and if so, this is an elite defense

Agree with McCray since he is more of an unknown. I like Isaac as well. He has an upright running style that reminds me of Eric Dickerson.

SYKE! thumbs down! Logged in to up vote, also obviously, to mention his bit-o-fun with the thumb.

Like the OP, I am interested to see where Ty Isaac fits in all of this, if you will. I could be wrong, but he has another year with us potentially beyond this one, and if that is the case, I am indeed interested to see how he'll fill in on this team as well as next year if he is around. Again, if I am miscalculating his eligibility, then never mind but I do still want to see Isaac fill a role here.

I agree that Wheatley could be big this year. Asiasi will be great down the line, but Wheatley looks to be ready NOW.
How do you defend a set with Butt and Wheatley both?
August 21st, 2016 at 8:48 AM ^
plays this year. His High School film against good California talent was very, very impressive. He's not afraid to knock somebody on their ass with a nice block but can also run like a whitetail being shot at out of a corn field.

seeing Wheatley in the backfield in goal-line situations. Jack-hammer deploys battering ram.

They're not just TEs, they're jumbo athletes who could do a lot. I'm excited to see how Harbaugh deploys them..

Agree, and I feel like we'll need all the size we can get to push around our biggest rivals this year. Mismatches are our friends.

De'Veon Smith. Everyone knows he's the starter, but the certainty about that from Harbaugh & co. makes me think the guy is ready to have a season that surprises a lot of people. On defense, it's Khaleke Hudson for me.
And it's not Isacc. It's Isssac.

Same two for me. I think McCray and Speight/O'Korn might be more critical and have a wider gap between floor and ceiling, but in terms of who I'm excited to see and who hasn't been getting a ton of hype, it's these two, Smith and Hudson. Heard a little bit of buzz about Hudson but not as much as I was expecting. We'll see.

Bush. His recruitment went so far past his rankings that I expect him to steal PT from the vets in front of him. If not I will be disapointed.

Sean McKeon is being lost in the hype of Butt, Bunting, and Wheatley. I think he'll get some run this year, and most people are going to be surprised by his combination of size and athleticism. He has the physical skill set to be a truly balanced and potentially dominant tight end.
August 20th, 2016 at 8:30 PM ^
I don't think he plays this year. This site listed his 'combine' numbers when he committed and this kid compared favorably with the top picks at tight end in recent drafts. I don't know if speed and jump go down as you add weight, but no doubt he is an athlete to watch.
