This list is completely arbitrary and not a genuine analysis of the relative merits of state fossils.

| 37 weeks 1 day ago | Metaphor |
Watching Vince grinding out one to two yards per carry was used as a metaphor for the grueling emotional experience of watching this game as a fan. Not that watching compares to the emotion on the field. I have enormous respect for all of the guys who didn't give up, especially Smith. I'm sure Ace does as well. |

Most logical position I've heard stated thus far. While I would have loved to see Denard rip off some big runs, and I think his number should have been called a bit more early on, it seems clear the plan was to throw. |

Exciting to see more video of Devin getting WR reps (1:40), can't wait to see him on the field this season. |

Yes I like it. I am sympathetic to the idea of giving it to an underclassman, but that's a minor issue to me. |

I'm a grad student at Minnesota now, after going to Ann Arbor for undergrad. One of the nice things about the Twin Cities that I've found during the couple of years I've lived here is the great beer culutre and abundance/availability of local microbrews at most of the bars. Now, this opinion may be confounded by the fact that I tend to go to bars catering to an older crowd than I did in MI, or by a national rise in microbrew popularity during my time here, but I honestly find myself trying all kinds of new beer more often, because there is such a wide variety available on tap. For anyone headed this way for the game, Stub and Herb's is a bar right next to the stadium with a great selection of taps that change weekly. However, this place WILL BE PACKED and hard to breathe in around gametime. For a lower-key atmosphere a bit farther from the stadium, I recommend west-bank (across the river from the stadium) area bars such as Republic, Acadia, and Town Hall Brewery. All great choices with good selection. There is also a Michigan alumni group who meet for drinks in downtown Minneapolis during games. I think they used to meet at 508 bar but moved one door down (west) last year. |

Actually though, Thompson seems like the most logical answer to me. We seemed close to reeling him in early, he's a 4 star at a position of need, etc. |

Edit: My bad, that was conference MVP... |

I'll join you for a glass as well, Lagavulin is the best damn liquor on earth. Even though this game wasn't pretty, those guys deserved a high-profile win. A great way to finish off a season that couldn't have impressed and surprised me more. |

My first thought was "man there are a lot of refs out there..." And then I realized thaty both teams are wearing black and white stripes... Anyone else find the color scheme confusing after watching so much American ball? At least they're different orientations I guess... |

Summit Honeymoon Saison... solid brewery out of the MN Twin Cities area. Sweet and hoppy. Maybe some more whiskey and coke later on. |

I will concur with Ashley's, and recommend the Dansk Mjod Viking Blod - best mead I have been able to purchase. |

Darn, would have really liked the whole Harrison trio to go blue. Would have been a good way to put to rest some of this 'Spartan pipeline' talk. Best wishes to this guy (except when playing against us). |

I was going to suggest the juicy Lucy as well. I'm currently living in Minneapolis and I can vouch for both the popularity and deliciousness of these stuffed burgers. Good MN beer includes brews from Summit and Surly breweries.
Edit: For Syracuse, I would recommend white hots (also really a Rochester food, as are garbage plates) which are quite good.

Also, half-moon cookies. Not unique to Syracuse either, but popular in upstate NY. My parents who hail from this region always got these for me when I was a kid, and I loved them.

| 1 year 43 weeks ago | SDSU analyses? |
I'd be interested in reading about the highlights of Hoke's 2010 season at SDSU. Subtopics could include: Breakdown of performance in "red letter" games - How did they win/lose, and what does this tell us about our new coach and his OC? Comparison between players on the former and current roster - How were former players used, and what does this tell us about how our guys will be used this year? This same idea could also be flipped around to focus specifically on Mattison's defense last year in Baltimore. |
