Former UM Coach Lloyd Carr steps down from CFP Committee due to health reasons
The title covers the main point. LINK
While it hurts to lose a Wolverine advocate in the CFP Committee meetings, especially before a hyped season like this, the bigger concern is for Coach Carr and his health. Hope he is able to focus on his health!

As for the playoff committee, if Michigan deserves a playoff spot they will get one.

and a desire to spend less time traveling. My parents traveled all the time once the kids all left and then they just stopped. They got tired of the airports, taxi's, etc. Hope that is the case for Lloyd and he just wants to spend more time with the grandkids.

but I have heard stuff (I know, who the hell am I right?) from people who have highly enough placed sources that leads me to believe it is probably true. But not enough that I'd be willing to wager a large amount of money on it.
Regardless, I wish Coach Carr the best, whatever his health concerns are.

Ten years ago I worked for MCARE. At that time every U of M employee had that health insurance. I worked with a lady who later claimed she looked at his medical records. She said she didn't see any Parkinson's diagnosis. Believe me she is that type of scumbag. Looking at his records never crossed my mind.
I currently work with a Spartan scumbag who Is a freelance writer. He claimed he was in someone's office when a call came in that confirmed coach Carr's Parkinson's. He says he called Bruce Madej to tell him he was going to write an article. Bruce told him that would violate HIPAA so he backed off. That guy would do anything he could to try to undermine this program so it's difficult say if he is full of crap or not.
I saw coach Carr at my son's flag football game the day after We lost to MSU. His son was coaching a team in Saline. He looked fine. He looked like a 71 year old man. He didn't look unhealthy. He was in good spirits. If that game didn't kill him, nothing will.

Don't committee members associated with a school have to recuse themselves when discussing that team anyways? So it wouldn't have an effect on Michigan.
August 19th, 2016 at 2:51 PM ^
This is true, he would not have been able to particpate in discussions about us directly. However, it couldn't have hurt having a Michigan guy when debating OSU, State, Bama, ND, etc.....
I kid, I kid.....sort of.

Fla. State in between OSU and Bama. People in this region of the B1G could for whatever reason think you were talking about Michigan Staee in that group of teams. Sorry for the unsolicited advice. Honestly trying to be helpful not insulting to you. After all you do make a very good point. +1

Double Farts!

Hopefully the CFB appoints another highly-respected former B1G coach. John "L" Smith and the Senator need not apply.

Looks like they're not replacing Coach Carr's place on the committee:
The CFP will not replace Carr and will have 12 members like it has the previous two seasons.
"As a former head coach, he would've brought excellent insight to the committee but we will be just fine," Hancock told ESPN. "We've dealt with this before. There are 12 strong and dedicated people on the committee -- the same number we had last year. They are eager for the season to start and eager to get to work."

Smart.
Avoids any conflicts of interest this December.

First thing I thought too.

NOICE!

Glad you put "Former UM Coach", otherwise I would have had no idea who Lloyd Carr was.

I figure maybe there's some young Wolverines who don't remember Coach Carr (it's been about 9 years since he's been a coach at Michigan) or maybe isn't as familiar with him. Also to recognize his former title - he'll always be Coach Carr to me.
It's an informative title that provides everything you need to know from just reading it, whereas an alternative title may lack details e.g. "Carr Steps Down from CFPC." I don't see any harm to include the details aside from the occasional snarky comment. =)

How dare you be detailed and write in complete sentences!

I know why he is stepping down, it is in fact for his health. It's pretty obvious to anyone who read the article so I'm surprised no one has pointed it out.
When you're on the committee you have to deal with Barry Alvarez. Clearly no one told Carr earlier.
August 19th, 2016 at 4:27 PM ^
I think I get it - Alvarez Syndrome. As far as the committee goes, I imagine that could be a rather jarring diagnosis.
In all seriousness though, I hope it isn't serious. My father is 74 and we're dealing with some issues with him that aren't serious but will eventually be sadly, and I don't wish that on anyone.
August 19th, 2016 at 5:00 PM ^
Hope it's nothing serious, I've always liked the Carr family and the Carr family has gone through enough recently. Old age suchs though, no doubt about that.

Barry Alvarez drives people away better than I did at 14.

There is no end to how horrible this year has been for the Carrs. I hope this is just out of extreme caution

Per Chengelis, he's considering surgery that will require extended recovery. Hopefully, it's something not so serious like a knee replacement.

I hope he ends up writing a book about his time at Michigan. He was an avid reader so I find it odd that there hasn't been a book about his life yet. Would love ot read some inside stories about the 97 team and his time coaching with Bo.
