OT- Myrtle Beach

No offense, OP, but I've never understood why (assuming a Midwest origin here) the hell anyone would go south for a holiday in the summer. It would make sense only between November and March.

I'm sitting on the Anna Maria Island beach this week.  I agree with 1974's take on not taking southern vacations during the summer.  With three kids under 8 it is tough to take them out of a week of school during the fall.  We did that a couple years ago and it was nice.

There is a dental seminar there this week.  The seminar got old and we are heading to Captiva Island, FL Saturday.  If you need any things to do, I would recommend some or you can just use Tripadvisor.

Remember, they are the home team!

I wonder if I'll like it as a parent. OP, aside from golf and beach, what's MB have to offer?

I went to Disney world last week, going to New York today, then Disney world in August. Maybe I can find time for the traverse city area as well.

to Michigan for Art Fair next month. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm in charleston right now. The fiancé is trying to convince me to apply here for residency. It's a beautiful place, just 15 degrees too hot for me.

My cousin and his family are out there right now. A bigger UM fan you won't find.

I've never been to Myrtle, but a lot of my friends and family go. Have a good time.

Live in SC in the midlands so only a few hours away. My choice of beaches however are far away from the tourist destination, I would much rather go to Charleston and Isle of Palms. Hilton Head is an awesome destination as well.

Oh, I also live close by Lake Murray so I plenty of nearby watersports.

 

Heading to MB for my son's baseball tourney in three weeks.

How late in the season is MB still enjoyable?  We aren't going to make our usual trip to Ocean City this year and I am thinking about taking the family to MB or Wilmington later in the season.  But, I want to be able to swim in the ocean without it being too cold.

I'll be there in 10 days. The 4th at Myrtle is a riot.

Going July 22nd for the first time. My daughter got a National bid on her cheerleading squad and that's where the competition is at. I've heard that I'm pretty much going to melt to the concrete that week from the heat. Hooray.

Been once. It was meh. A few places I enjoy more. Also, it is correct you vacation in the north in the summer, south in the winter, and Europe whenever you can (though summer is far better).

In da Yoop. Doesn't get any better than sittin' by a bonfire on a Lake Superior beach with a cooler of cold ones.
