I'd just search the net for the helmet, and you may want to tidy up your thread title a bit, such as "Where can I buy a winged helmet?" You may get neg-bombed anyway, mostly because of your low point total, but for the vanity post and title as well.
The first time I got negged, I curled up in the fetal position with a gallon of Rocky Road, whimpering like a lost puppy and repeating "Why can't I have nice things?" over and over and over.
You know - just like after Rich Rod's first season.
I ended up with -126 points the first time I commented. It was something along the lines of thinking Urban Meyer should be approached for the HC job if he were available because I thought (and still do think) he is one of the best offensive minds and recruiters in football.
Needless to say, even before he was the OSU coach, he wasn't popular around here. I almost swore off MGO cause I was so pissed lol.
The Board is acting contrarian today apparently.
"Beware the negs" you say? Let's go uber positive!

The first two results when you search "buy winged helmet near detroit" are MGoForum posts.
You should try to Google something like "Where can I watch the Michigan - Ohio State game in Budapest?"
The first three pages of hits are all MGoBlog links yeling at the poster to Google it.
Google ain't a magic brain just waiting to answer your question, folks. It's just a fast index to stuff that has already been posted on the internet.
There certainly have been less relevant threads started here

Talk to his high school coach when I was a youngster we were able to borrow the helmet for summer camps and 7 on 7 tournaments/leagues.

Yep. That's how we did it in high school, and helmets have already been sent in and returned after recertification by now. If you hit up his high school coach, he will almost certainly help you out.
Reminded me of the band Helmet. Forgot about those guys. UNSUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Betty and Meantime were excellent albums.

Meantime was a constant listen for me in the late 90's. Gonna have to revisit that one today
I'm thinking 90% of the Michigan football helmets you're going to find available for sale are not going to be rated for actual football use. Given that you also need to find the proper size for your son's head, it seems like a tall order.
Yes, forget about being "cool", get him a new, safe, reliable helmet.
If it has wings on it, great.

This suggestion makes sense. The only question is how well the decals will fit, depending on the size of the helmet (OP never said how old his son is).
I tried to "duh, just google" suggestion and I couldn't find a single source for a Michigan-themed youth football helmet - only a bunch of replica or actual helmets.
The answer is that a wing decal will not likely fit well, if you can even find one.
The Michigan helmets are not blue helmets with yellow decals. They are yellow helmets that have blue painted around the outline of the wings.
When the paint on a Michigan helmet is scratched off, you see yellow not blue:
If you are trying to do-it-yourself with a blue helmet, you will just have to cut some yellow contact tape and make it look as good as you can. You may need 2 layers of tape or the yellow will bleed through to the dark blue background and look green.
You get a fandom loyalty badge for this.
Edit: Looks like you can get a pre-fab yellow "Michigan Wing" decal and save yourself some time. See the "Schoolpride.com" link in one of the comments below.
grab a wire brush and a red brick.
Then scuff the crap out of the front of the helmet.
He will be the man of the camp.
He's 13, 5'11 @ 175 DE future 5* . Going into 9th grade this sept. I tried to get mom to hold him back a year but you can't tell women anything. Anyone who has read outliers knows what I'm talking about.
