Can You Get the NCAA's On-line If You Don't have Cable/Satellite?
Mates,
We live in the boonies and get satellite on a month-to-month basis during college football season, unplug it and have no TV the rest of the year. Last year we were able to get a number of NCAA games on CBS Sports.com over our regular internet provider. We even watched the Michigan game yesterday when we found out it would be on. I will add that last year also when we would try to log on to CBS it sometimes wouldn't let you, or would only let you watch a certain, timed amount.
Assume we are not going go buy a sling/shot/rabbit ear/pirate special set up to get the games on the internet. My question is this: Do any of you have a more certain way of simply accessing the games on-line?
Thank you in advance for any help. And here's hoping that the need for this becomes more urgent in about 2 hours with some good news for the maize and blue - otherwise we're gathering up all the pitch forks and torches, meeting at Mabel's, and starting trouble.

I'm pretty sure CBS streams all games online free of charge.
Anything on TBS or Tru, etc. will require a login and a matching cable subscription.
I have watched full games on CBS Sports online in previous years. Maybe something has changed since then, but it worked well when I did it.
we used that last year, but it was weird b/c some games would either 'time' you out, or even though they appeared to be on CBS, we couldn't get them. maybe those were the games they were co-oping from TBS/TNT?
That is exactly right, all games are streamed on cbssports.com but only the CBS broadcast games are free (and this year not even the final is on CBS, if I'm not mistaken). With a cable login you can watch all the games there though. Would loan you mine if I didn't need it (we split time between CA and AZ and have cable one spot and use the login at the other).
Also, this plan comes with the added benefit of being able to charge a bunch of porno to the person who loaned you their password (so yeah, you can't borrow mine).
It's too bad that there's no way to get free porno without a cable login.
But you can watch them online with a cable provider password. I would just ask a friend/relative for their password for one-time use during the tourney if you're cool with watching on the computer screen.

All of the games are on cbs sports.com
They even have a panic button in case the boss is coming and it brings up a blank page or something.
i'm sorry but i can't help you. if i were you i would not google up the site firstrowsports. i would not make sure i had ad block because the popup ads on that site are not at all annoying. They don't have basically every game from every sport free from european satelites, so it's pointless to even look into it. sorry that I can't help you.
so noted. i always worried that with all that ad nonsense came boatloads of phishing/virus fun that sooner or later you'd have to pay the piper. hypothetically speaking.
The last two years, they've made games broadcast on CBS free to stream online, while games on cable (TBS, TNT, TRU) are free for a limited time (they use a ~90 minute counter, and your stream stops after that). However, you can easily get around their streaming limits by using incognito mode or deleting cookies.
how do engage 'incognito mode' (and are there other areas in life this can be utilized...) and how/what cookies would i be looking to boot?
thank you.
If you're using Chrome, then all you need to do to open an "incognito window" (which means nothing you do in this window will be saved) is go to the menu (should look like three horizontal bars - upper right corner of the browser) and click on that and select "open incognito window".
To clear the cookies, go to the same menu and look for "Settings", then click "Show Advanced Settings" and you should see "Clear Browsing Data" somewhere. Be careful what you select there, however, in the event you have stored passwords and the like.
i just asked oldest daugther about what you wrote and she think she can make it go.

Since CBS is a broadcast station, if you really want to watch games that are on CBS, spend 20 bucks and get yourself an antenna. It'll look better than the HD feed from the dish, too.
that means, 'ain't no TV out here, lessen you got on o' them fancy cable things'! and i add, there isn't even cable out here, we're so far away. it's satellite or nothing.
but it is a blessing i can't even begin to summarize for our family.
where you can have your beer and food brought to ya. While watching the games on a really big screen. But if you prefer to stay married, ask the little women along and try not to stay all night.
and besides, the 6 oldest kids all play basketball so where would the fun be in watching without them?

Search google for "NCAA March Madness Live" for the website version of the phone app. The app is also available for FireTV/Roku.

If you have the internet you can stream every single game from the NCAA March Madness app free of charge and on their website. Download it on your phone and buy an HDMI adapter/cord to plug it into your TV.
Only the games on CBS are free of charge.
Cut and pasted from Google Play download info:
Log in with your TV provider to enjoy unlimited access to live streaming video of all 67 games across TBS, CBS, TNT and truTV. (Paid TV subscription required for games broadcast on TBS, TNT and truTV; a temporary 3 hour live video pass is available on mobile devices prior to logging in; CBS games do not require a paid TV subscription).
it be possible to get 3 3-hour passes by using 3 different browsers one after the other (Firefox, Chrome, Safari)?
'ma! get the kids and the dog, get the gun! we're goin' to ohio to watch us some hoops!
20 reasonably good channels for $20, requires no special equipment (can play on computer and hdmi to tv), and you can cancel anytime. We just signed up for 3 months and got a free Roku 2 out of the deal.
Like you, I live in the boonies with no access to cable and I refuse to pay for satellite. VIPBox.tv was my go-to. Used to be I could watch games on this as long as I had Adblocker installed and watched out for pop-unders. Without Adblocker you'd probably get a bunch of nasty spyware in a matter of minutes. Now most of the windows won't even load unless you disable Adblocker. But worth a shot if you're desperate.
stuff those sites funnel, at least for me. but thank you.
Last I checked they were very strict about that and stringently took down any violating links. These companies aren't stupid. They want you and everyone here to pay 100 per month for cable so they can watch the tournament.
Ever since they've foolishly moved the tourney to cable I just listen on radio to the games I can't watch.
You used to be able to watch from the NCAA website or the NCAA's March Madness App without a cable provider, but I'm not sure if it still works the same way:
