So proud and honored to be the coach of Michael Shuster who just got off the phone with Coach Harbaugh and committed to Michigan!

Hearing #Michigan's 2016 QB addition is a preferred walk-on. 5th most passing yds in PA history: https://t.co/5KLjwRGwAN

Welcome to the family, Michael.

Harbaugh looks lIke he's thinking "Crap, did I say scholarship or PWO to him?!?!"
October 29th, 2015 at 4:57 PM ^
or he's got to go to the bathroom.
I forgot, the bathroom comes to Jim. (The world's most interesting man is envious of Harbaugh.)
And BTW, does he ALWAYS wear the same outfit? I remember a Happy Days episode where Richie saw Fonzie's closet. It was white t-shirt, black t-shirt, white t-shirt, black t-shirt, and so on and so forth. I assume Harbaugh's closet has a row of those shirts lined up one right after the other.

Definitely, in that second pic the resemblance is striking.

One thing I learned from his highlight video...high school DB's are not good, generally speaking.

Commit to UM and Harbaugh as a PWO QB, Redshirt, spend 4 years learning from the best, take your 5th year to Deleware/Youngstown/Purdue and start and be an NFL 1st round pick.
Sounds like a good plan....

Work like crazy, be the best, and earn the starting job. Sort of like this former walk-on:
Or ... do exactly as you said, while also gaining the added-in bonus of building the foundation for a 4-decade coaching career.

If he transfers to Delawre, he'll still hear "Go Blue (Hens)!"

They have some cool uniforms. I think I've seen something like them before, but I am not sure where.

Seems to have good mechanics, pocket presence and great accuracy. I trust in Harbaugh!

LOL'ng at the Nancies in this thread that were freaking out.

Always good to have more players get on board and walk-ons are an important part of any team. Welcome aboard and Go Blue!
October 29th, 2015 at 4:21 PM ^
Also, welcome aboard Mr. Shuster!

After the last four years, I'll never complain about too many quarterbacks.
Welcome to the team.
October 29th, 2015 at 4:44 PM ^
will end up as a generic 3* in a few months, but that would have been due to his last few games in HS, right?

Some guys don't get any evaluation due to multiple things- I.e. Not attending camps, lack of visits, etc.
It's not always because they suck.

But RB is a way different position. A good team can easily rotate 5-6 guys at RB. No way that happens at QB.
If you get down to your 3rd stringer taking meaningful snaps, you are pretty worried about it... in spite of how it worked for OSU and Jones last year.

Here's hoping that Harbaugh's staff keeps tabs on these threads so they can be reminded of what roster spots to prioritize for upcoming recruiting classes.

I'd never tell a kid not to come to what i think is the best university in the world. But I have to wonder what his expectations are? And how many QB's is enough?
I'd love to hear what they are telling potential QB's about who's staying and who's going.

We have 8 QBs on our roster right now, including walk-ons. Do we have 8QBs taking reps in practice right now? I have a feeling that Brian Cleary, Garrett Moores and Matt Thompson are not taking away too many practice reps that are needed elsewhere.

I'm trusting JH on this one over your judgement- I think he knows what he is doing

One of my good buddies, who's committed to Penn right now, was offered a PWO spot at Michigan (he's a QB). So I guess that spots taken then.

Roster size is limited to 105 players during fall camp, so the limit is until you hit that number.
October 29th, 2015 at 8:55 PM ^
Is there are any difference between a preferred walkon and a regular walkon or it simply a matter of a guaranteed spot on the roster without having to try out?
October 29th, 2015 at 9:04 PM ^
You've got it in the second half of your comment.
