Michigan # 10 party school in United States
September 15th, 2015 at 7:33 PM ^
CMU has the reputation as the biggest party school in MI from my experience/friends and those I've talked to who go there.
"I go to CMU" is usually said with a smile.
Also, no couch burners on the list? WVU and MSU?

Of course, the time I went there to visit a friend in college K-town was dead on a Saturday night at 10 pm. Weak sauce.

back in the day.
Ferris State was known as a big party school as well.

People I know who go there just call it Wastern.

I got a .77 at Western (you have to TRY to do that!), best time of my life, or so they tell me!!!
Only lasted a semseter an a half. Literally went home and told me Dad that I think I killed all my brain cells... thank God for neuroplasticity!
Then thought, hell NOW what do I do with the rest of my life.... thankfully that was my wake up call.... '93 Michigan Grad
Had the best of both worlds.... partied at Western and got my education from Michigan.

I mean, their freaking mascot is totally wasted. Look at those eyes.
Buster Bronco bears a certain resemblance to "Towelie" from South Park, the perpetually baked linen:

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space (bitches) and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, between the guards and the tackles, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge of the bubble screen. This is the dimension of imagination and Harbaugh. It is an area which we call ... The MGoBlog Zone.

I had a bunch of friends at Western and it was like going on Spring Break every time I visited. I post this here because on one of those visits, my friend banged the Bronco on one of those visits. She was so-so in the looks department, but the idea of screwing a mascot was too much for this friend. That is like taking the soul from another schools sports team.

I went there and there is nothing to do at Ferris other than drink and drink heavily.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing.

I went to WMU for three semesters before transferring to Michigan. We drank in our dorm rooms every night of the week except Sundays, and then quite a few Sundays. Just sayin'.

When I started my engineering career out of undergrad working for the Big Three, I ran into at least a dozen people who said they tried to go to Western, but couldn't handle the constant partying. So they transferred to usually Lawrence Tech (now GMI?).

Changed awhile ago -- 15 years or so, in order to make it less General Motors focused.
Lawrence Tech is still Lawrence Tech.
Both are not party schools.

Everybody forgets NMU and MTU... which only don't make the list because of size.

Have you ever been to an MSU party? They're okay, because they're parties, but they have nothing on Ann Arbor.

This is a totally random, subjective list. Michigan is a fun school, but not even in the top half of "party" schools in the Big Ten conference (in my view, IU tops the Big Ten).
How is Arizona State not on this list? UC-Santa Barbara? Colorado? No school from the West?
September 15th, 2015 at 7:48 PM ^
"Playboy magazine editors chose the schools on this list based on “access to nightlife and musical events, and creativity when planning social gatherings,” and a reader’s poll."
So basically this doesn't bring house parties into the equation. Kinda dumb.
A readers poll? No college kid subscribes to Playboy when they have unlimited free porn available.
September 15th, 2015 at 7:56 PM ^
Methodology is odd. Assuming the readers' poll would reflect the factors selected, seems to me that universities near cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles should dominate. Not college towns like Syracuse, Iowa City, etc.
September 15th, 2015 at 9:48 PM ^
Given Playboy, I wonder what kind of "musical events" they had in mind ... 50's beatnik jazz?

yeah ive been to over half of those 10 schools and while i enjoyed all of them, some should not make any list. obviously all depends on criteria, judges, etc. but i still cant imagine any list where a place like cuse ranks in top 10. and selecting michigan over the arizona or cali schools where 25k students rock pool parties 365 days/yr?

is pure crazy talk. I'm sure kids have a good time these days but calling Michigan a party school is an insult to party schools.
