17-0 with 4 playoff wins this year. Book it.

It's going to be so much harder to have teams go undefeated nowadays, especially when you consider the length of the schedule now as compared to years past. However, Hail Harbaugh, he is one crazy sob and will lead us back to dominance.

I dont think it is that far fetched if we get out of Utah unscathed.
I think if nothing else this year we clean up mistakes on offense and have a good special teams which swings a couple games in our favor right away.
Honestly what if we just cut the turnovers in half last year. What does our record look like then. I think Harbaugh is good for that.
August 20th, 2015 at 5:30 PM ^
What were we last year -16 or something like that? Awful. There were only like 3 or 4 teams worse. Half that number would still be painful. Don't see getting near double digit wins unless they hit positive range.

I absolutely agree with this, except i believe if we lose to Utah, we enter MSU 4-2.
I have confidence this team will vastly improve exponentially each week. The hardest game for Harbaugh will be this Utah game because he is still in the early stages of figuruing out what he has and teaching these kids. After the first game, he will learn an LOT more about what he has. And oh by the way, Utah is really, really good. 3rd hardest game on our schedule IMO.
IF we get by Utah, confidence will be high, the team will get much better week after week, and we will enter the MSU game (at our house) with an unbelieveable amount of confidence.
The Utah game is extremely important, and i believe if we win it, this is a 10 win team, maybe 11 and we split with MSU/OSU.
If we lose to Utah, we are an 8 win team (maybe 7) and lose the 2 big ones.

and an all world coach to finally coach that talent up.
The QB position will be much improved just from the fact that Harbaugh is coaching them, every game on our schedule is winnable, this team can go 10-2 or better very easily.
Evrywhere Harbaugh has been improved drastically right away and worsened as his fingerprints wore off after he left and SF is gonna suck right away, this is not a coincidence.

Stanford pretty much stayed the course. They had a down year this year with 8 wins, though, but before that Shaw won at least 10 games every year. Certainly Harbaugh laid the foundation for that success, but Shaw is certainly doing his job to maintain it.

not. expect excellence immediately.

they were a 1 win team and he won 4 and 5 games the next 2 years with what he had at the time.
And to Swazi, Do you think they would have been an 8 win team last year if Harbaugh was still there? Plus I think he wins more than Shaw has, I'm talking 12 and up win seasons, not just 10.

Couch is downplaying BYU, calling it 'manageable'. I want to think he's right, but a team that can run like BYU does scares me until Michigan proves they can stop it.
Get by Utah and BYU and we'll start talking.

Well I mean our run D was pretty good last year. And pretty much every year under Hoke/Mattison.
August 20th, 2015 at 5:31 PM ^
I was referring to Michigan's tendency to struggle against mobile running-type quarterbacks.

Taysom Hill is very good but their passing game isn't fantastic. I think we can lock down their receivers 1 on 1 and have guys like Peppers and Ross sniffing him out on options and keepers. I think we got em at home.
August 20th, 2015 at 5:40 PM ^
and fairly disappointed if the run D isn't anywhere from good to great, particularly if the offense protects them better this year, keeps them fresher for end of ball games.

Even if we struggle a bit early, we could easily go into the Ohio State game with only one Big Ten loss, thus giving us at least the chance to reprise 1969. I'd take that.

There's no winning in saying stuff like this. If you're wrong it feeds the common notion that this fanbase is delusional. If you're right, everybody is celebrating the wins and nobody gives a damn about your old prediction. Either take a critical/analytical approach or just keep your mouth shut.

In saying stuff like what? Predicting how many wins your team will have? Isn't that what fans do, isn't that why we have a community like we do?
August 20th, 2015 at 9:54 PM ^
opinion and passing it off as common notion.
August 20th, 2015 at 6:02 PM ^
I'd take that.

Anyway to lock that in McFly?

He won't be able to help you on the games that are after October 21st, 2015.

The Homer in me wants to believe we will be laying down the pipe on every single team that has the bad fortune to be scheduled vs Michigan. But I also remember Nick Saban had 6 losses his first year along...think Pete Carroll was the same and these are not slouches.
Anyway if JH wins 7 games this year he has done a very good job. Anything over that is gravy.

1) Michigan outgained Utah last year, 301 yds vs. 280yds. Gardener threw 3 interceptions, there was one fumble
2) Utah is replacing both their offensive and defensive coordinator. They were returning 2 CB's, one of them was kicked off the team for pulling a knife on someone
3) #Habaugh /micdrop

Great points. The preseason polls and such and predictions rely to much on what happened last year. As most of us already know things never happen like they did last year. With a team hard to read like michigan which has had huge upswing in the offseason predicting us to be a .500 team is just crazy.
