OT: Jed York and the gift that keeps on giving
On replacing coach Jim Harbaugh: “We’re trying to win a Super Bowl. We haven’t been able to do that. And I think what we’re trying to do is build a team that focuses on our core strengths. I think we got away from that a little bit. I think we tried to do too much and be something that we weren’t. I think you’re gonna see us get back to the basics, get back to letting our players go out and make plays….You look at our offense last year. It wasn’t I think where it should have been. I think we have better talent than what our results showed.”

Does he remember that the 49er's hadn't been to the playoffs for almost a decade before Harbaugh came? Does he really think 49er's fans are dumb? Does he really believe what he is saying?
Either way, thank you Jed York for being a complete moron and giving us Harbaugh.

We need to do another Jed York appreciation thread

Huh? If anything it sounds like the poster was surprised that he's a dope considering he's a millionaire.

This man is a treasure. Never let him go San Francisco. He clearly knows that the best way to win a super bowl is to have a team in which no one wants to be there.
But thank you for your idiocy, York. You gave us Harbaugh, so I'm eternally grateful that you ran a top-5 coach out of town so you could get your yes man. If you're not cleaning out your office in the next year or two, I'd be shocked.

He's the owners son so we might be blessed with the entertainment of continued nepotism for a long time. Either way, getting canned by his folks would be entertaining as well. Ah, the failures of dynastic tendencies.
The guy fired the NFL's most successfull coach over the past 4 years and replaces him with basically Brady Hoke.... good luck Jed....Thanks for Jim.
Does this guy remind anyone else of an NFL version of Dave Brandon? His my way or the highway attitude seems very much the same as DB. And we all know how that worked out for ol' pizza boy.
And he's so self-delusional, he thinks he's being a genious while doing something stupid.
Maybe had* better talent than what their team showed. Has he noticed that SF has lost a few players over the past couple weeks?
They are playing for draft picks now.

because we'll be stacked with first round talent for the foreseeable future

Most of them that I've seen are in the "laughing so that they don't cry" phase.
When you have personnel like Colin Kaepernick, Michael Crabtree & Mario Manningham in the NFL and can only get to the Superbowl it's CLEARLY an indication of under-performing.
Just wait until this year guys, with Tomsula running the show and pesky guys like Harbaugh, Patrick Willis, Chris Borland and Frank Gore gone, they're primed to win it all.

This man is among the most delusional in the league. Daddy's boy. Way out of his element. Your franchise wallowed in the depths of .500 hell for a long, long time until Harbaugh showed up, transformed the 9ers into a playoff team almost overnight, and now you're theorizing about what went wrong and poking holes in it? Seriously?
I bet he'd get impatient if Bill Belicheck was there.
I don't have much basis to back this up, but my gut feel is York is like a baby who gets his toy taken away from him. He doesn't like not having his way, despite not knowing what the hell he's doing. He struck gold when Harbaugh came to town, and then he somehow managed to run the best thing that's happened to that team in over a decade right out of town. He brings his own yes man in who won't challenge his authority.
But now he'll have to deal with the wrath of the fans and maybe even some of the players. Would not be surprised if the outcry is so much against him that he's essentially forced out in a year or so.

Listen, it's hard to keep perspective when you're born on 3rd base.
SF fans seem really bummed out by this team's outlook due to the ownership/leadership in the front office, and frankly I don't blame them.

Jed, put the crackpipe down no one needs to get hurt
Oh, beautiful. If Jed York is to be taken at his word, the team got away from its core strengths playing under Jim Harbaugh. That's going to be a fun line to sell to a fanbase that is clearly facing a rebuilding year. I can only think that a lot of 49ers fans put their heads into the nearest wall after hearing that. There's also this:
Jed York: "I think you’re gonna see us get back to the basics, get back to letting our players go out and make plays." Translation: 5-11

I think the 49ers are in for some Lions level shit for the forseeable future.
Another Daniel Synder in the making

Look how well he turned out for the Lions.
I think the thing that is going to really hamstring Tomsula is his staff. Harbaugh has been known for surrounding himself with a top-notch coaching staff. Tomsula has a bunch of who-dats. Combined with the massive turnover seen on that team...
