I referenced that very injury as the reason I didn't think he played high school ball. Since that's the reason he stopped before his HS days were over, that's hardly even a stretch.

I'm not even 0-1 in that paragraph, but since we're cherry-picking things out of posts now, I unearthed this illuminati message in yours...

"So far you are 0-2 in your claims about Jay Harbaugh. "

If we take the "Q" from Quattro and the "d" from suffered, add it to the above sentence, rearrange the letters, and then delete everything else, your post actually says GO AL QAEDA.

You terrorist son of a bitch.

Jay Harbaugh has three years' experience as an offensive quality control assistant with the Ravens.  Whether he was qualified for that job when Baltimore hired him is debatable, but at this stage, to go from a QC job to position coach is actually a pretty normal transition.

It really only looks weird because 1) the rest of the staff is loaded in terms of experience (although it's common to have at least one young guy on staff) and 2) he's Jim's son.

Now to be sure, #2 is the reason why he's here, but that's not to say he'd be unemployed otherwise - I think he'd have landed a job somewhere else.

Not when it's an NFL QC job.

Conventional wisdom in football holds that any NFL job is a grade above its college equivalent (which is also why NFL types still can't believe Jim left the pros to come here).

If you serve three years in an NFL organization - especially a Super Bowl-winning one - that's worth a lot on your résumé.

Some people here are really overstating the prestige of a QC guy, NFL or not. If it happens all the time, please provide some examples of it happening at other top 10 programs.

There is no reason to take mild criticism of a hire so personally. He is pretty objectively underqualified. That doesn't mean I think the team's doomed.

Matt Patricia, too. Syracuse offensive grad assistant 2001-03, Patriots Offensive assistant in 2004 when he was 29 years old, Linebacker coach in 2006 at 31 years old, Defensive Coordinator in 2012 at 38 years old. Jon Gruden went even faster. I wonder what it is about Harbaugh you feel makes him under-qualified to coach Tight Ends? I mean, we have essentially 3 offensive coordinators. Where's the problem?

no doubt couldve hired more experienced / reputable TE coach but harbaugh knows what hes doing.  if hes happier with his son by his side while hes building his empire, thats only a positive - and further increases chances of him staying (as if the challenge of getting um to the mountaintop isnt enough or dueling with meyer).

every great coach started somewhere.  even if jay does not grow into the best coach, everyone should know hes going to work as hard or harder than his pops and thats impressive.  plus his on-field impact is limited at TE should he for some reason not be up to it - unlike HC or OL coach, etc whos impact as obviously incompetent coaches can just ruin teams.

so HC is happy.  TE coach has work ethic and insanity in bloodlines.  and hell bust it to prove any doubters wrong and show he belongs.  the harbaughs may talk but they all seem like walkers too.

not to mention hes 25 and can and will relate to players and recruits.  much easier to keep it loose and bond with those closer to your peer group - and the TE coach doing so has more of impact than GAs of similar age.  that TE room will def work but it wont lack youthful banter which is great.  and theres 2-3 others on staff who can always help out with TEs for whatever reason.

i like the hire (though may feel differently if durkin, drevno, zordich, jackson etc werent home runs)

Wasn't Mattison signed for 750k as DC?  His lesser role would explain the lower salary, but I wonder if he's still going to get paid the difference?  Wasn't he under contract through 2016?

Fisch is basically a nomad - he is not even 40 but has had a bevy of jobs.  He stays 2 years and goes.  This sounds like a place for him to be for 1 year before the next NCAA/NFL offer comes up next winter.  No harm no foul there - I said that for those worried about Fisch's background that at most you will only have to "worry" about him for 1-2 years before he moves on.  Sounds like it will be 1.

More importantly, how much do you get paid as a Recruiting Analyst?  Like a TomVH, Brandon Brown, Steve Lorenz, etc.  Those jobs seem more fun.

I dunno I just keep getting these emails saying that if I click this link then I can get paid $6708 per day and they'll direct deposit it if I give them my bank account and social security numbers.  It was coming from 247sports or some other website so I figured that's the ballpark wage there.

people that work for cnn or other news sites prob barely make 50k, and they have way more viewers than recruiting sites. these guys aren't making more than $15 an hour, no way. if so, i'm quitting my job to facebook/twitter stalk recruits to get interviews and eventually get in w rivals/scout/247

tvh is def making the most of all the recruitnik alumni here no doubt....this may be taboo, and mods feel free to delete this comment, but any idea what brian/ace and the gang pull in here? i know they don't pay LSA a dime, and he's in every thread all day...

Honestly, I think there is a lot more money floating around than we think.  Some bloggers make quite a bit - like $250k plus.  I think the guy with the cat cheeseburger blog made a few million.

I also have a friend who works at the NFL - doing ad sales - and he makes like $300k, which is kind of crazy sounding to me considering that NFL ad space sells itself.
