Bellomy to Transfer
We all speculated it after reading Chris Clark's letter from Jay Harbaugh, but now it's official.
To those of you that know me well, I always try my hardest never to get emotional; however, I write… http://t.co/RkjaacIGEK

Wish him luck. His time never worked out here on the field, but he absolutely put his heart into his time at UM.

This isn't a reply to Bronxblue.

bored

He probably has his left hand on his junk while he negs with his right, and feels all puffed up and manly. It's an annoying part of the MGoBlog ecosystem, like mosquitos at a campsite, but you just have to ignore it.
January 30th, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
(Nobody negged the thread, though?)
January 30th, 2015 at 12:37 PM ^
Can we blame him? If he wants to play college football over the next couple of years -- it is not going to be in the Big HOUSE! Nothing but the best be yours!

Hope he finds success wherever he goes.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:38 PM ^
Good luck to Russell. I hope he uses his transfer to go somewhere and get a good graduate degree as well as fight for playing time.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:38 PM ^
Good luck young man!

wish him the best, and that he goes somewhere that he gets to play - alot.
anybody know where he's looking?
January 30th, 2015 at 12:39 PM ^
Best of Luck. Go Blue.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:39 PM ^
He seems like a good young man with a good attitude. He may never play pro football, but I think he'll do well in whatever he pursues. Best of luck to him!

A new environment may allow him to prosper.
Good luck to him.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:39 PM ^
By all accounts he is a great kid and I look forward to seeing him compete on the field in 2015. Best of luck!
January 30th, 2015 at 12:40 PM ^
Best of luck to him. A lot of fans were too harsh on him, but he always represented the program well.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:40 PM ^
Ruh roh. That QB depth chart...
January 30th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
4 QBs now with Gentry...
January 30th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
Bellomy likely wasn't going to get any real PT either way. Our QB was going to be Shane, Speight or one of the two incoming guys.
Either way, it's going to be an interesting year at the QB spot for us. Let's see some of that Harbaugh magic
January 30th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
...is in no way impacted because Bellomy was going to be behind at least Morris and Speight.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
He wasn't going to play anyway.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:41 PM ^
Russell was likely not going to get any significant PT here, but will have a shot elsewhere. Harbaugh and staff get another schollie spot. Best of all, Russell gets to leave here with his degree.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:41 PM ^
Wish him the best. I have no doubt that he played his hardest and took a lot of hits for Michigan.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
1. " I hope y'all know that every day I busted my butt for you"
and
2. "I will receive my degree at the end of this semester"
He then asks us to respect his decision! All the Best!
January 30th, 2015 at 12:48 PM ^
.He was thrust into difficult situations and is handling it all with class!
January 30th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
best of luck.

I honestly dont think I've ever felt as bad for a player (other than an injury) than I did for him @ Nebraska 2012. The kid was more than willing but it was painfully obvious from almost the minute he was put in the game he wasnt going to be able to do what was asked of him and that's not his fault!
I hope where ever he ends up he gets good coaching and an opportunity to play. He certainly deserves it.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:52 PM ^
I completely agree. One of the worst coaching moments in the last couple of years. Coupled with just nasty weather conditions (IIRC).
I wish him the best.
January 30th, 2015 at 1:02 PM ^
Yes, tough spot and bad weather ... but as my memory serves, Bellomy was not helped by his receivers. There was at least one quite catchable ball -- his first pass, I believe -- in the flat that was dropped. Outcome of the game didn't hinge on that, but his confidence could have used that catch at that point.

It was cold and windy (of course I was sitting in the nosebleed section, so it might not have been that way on the field, but I ended up with wind burn on my face). The place was rocking, too: a night game, and at the time the second largest crowd in stadium history (they've since expanded the stadium).
January 30th, 2015 at 1:02 PM ^
It's my understanding that he got pretty injured on one of his early snaps during that Nebraska game.
The fact that he continued to stand up in the pocket and take the heat despite being in pain was heroic.
The fact that many fans still to this day lambast the poor kid simply for him having done only what was asked of him by his team just makes his behavior even more classy.
Best of luck Bellomy. Always a Wolverine in my book.
January 30th, 2015 at 4:57 PM ^
Good luck to the young man, God speed.
That 2012 Nebraska game was the beginning of Hoke's end. By showing how thoroughly unprepared we were to replace Denard at the game's most critical position, Hoke was totally exposed. While Nebraska was decent that year, having a deer in the headlights Bellomy was a killer, and Nebraska pounced. Enough so that a starting WR took over the next week and for the next 2 years.
Contrast that with Urbz who swapped out one Heisman caliber QB for another, and then for another in comparable situations.
THAT is why Hoke is no longer at his dream job.

Kid deserves a ton of credit for not transferring out immediately after that Nebraska game. Kudos to him for fighting through all the fan-nastiness and sticking it through.
Congrats on the degree to him.

I have some close ties to the AD, and I was told that the Neb game a couple years ago REALLY REALLY fuck up his mental state. Basically, he shut down for a bit, even in the classroom. I hear he's much better. I hope he continues to improve and excel at the next stop.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:58 PM ^
I'm sure we all suspected this, but terrible to get confirmation. Glad to hear he is doing better now though! Much respect to him for sticking it out here at UM and earning his degree.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:46 PM ^
Thank you for coming to Michigan when we were in turmoil & we had a new coach. Best of luck to you wherever you go!
January 30th, 2015 at 12:47 PM ^
For Bellomy, particularly with the way things are evolving now, this is probably a very sound move. It is a shame that it did not work out better for him at Michigan though you can tell he worked extremely hard, but he gets his degree from Michigan (huge plus) and hopefully a shot at some extensive playing time somewhere. Good luck to him in the future.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:48 PM ^
Hopefully he'll find a school that can use/develop his talents.
January 30th, 2015 at 1:03 PM ^
Texas is looking for a QB after they lost Zach Gentry - and it is Bellomy's home state school.
January 30th, 2015 at 12:50 PM ^
Ah great, it's Ryan Mallett all over again
January 30th, 2015 at 12:51 PM ^
Best of luck Mr. Bellomy. Thanks for all your hard work. May you find success throughout your life.
