Brady Hoke went on a recruiting tear and got kids to commit like Kalis (who initially committed to OSU), D. Thomas committed outright and Dunn was wavering.
Then urbz gets hired and threatens to pull his offer if he still consiers Michigan. So he sticks with Ohio State.
In retrospect you get the feeling that the ultimate mark of shame of urbz is to lose a commit to Michigan.

shocking news
and in 3 years we'll have a headline about Mike Weber doing the same
January 27th, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
He was a sure thing. As sure as Dee Hart.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:05 AM ^
Dunn just didn't seem to pan out.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:08 AM ^
FWIW, Dee Hart had a very good year at Colorado State this year and declared early for the NFL Draft. Unfortunately for him, it looks like he might go undrafted.

realized he doesn't fit Urb's style. Urb is all about speed.

Wasn't Carlos Hyde pretty much just a 'Gradfathered' in type player? He was the pounder to the Elussiveness that Braxton was... I think it was the complete inverse for the Playoffs this year... the QB was the pounder in Jones and the speed/elusiveness was Elliott, if I'm not mistaken? THat's the only reason it worked, in my opinion. If it was any other combination Jones-Hyde or Miller/Barrett-Elliott, I don't think you see the ridiculous success the b*ckeyes have against Alabama that they did. Again, this is all just my own opinion.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:21 AM ^
Carlos Hyde averaged nearly 8 yards a carry, it worked. OSU could always run, they learned how to throw this year, that's why they won.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:51 AM ^
The best players play, I don't understand your opinion. Also, Elliott is 6 ft 225 lbs.
January 27th, 2015 at 2:56 PM ^
Carlos Hyde wasn't grandfather'd into the starting RB position. During the 2012 season, Urban was splitting carries pretty evenly between Carlos Hyde, Bri'Onte Dunn, and Roddrick Smith.
Hyde didn't pull away as the feature back until about 5 or 6 games into the season.
January 27th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
Dude's a freight train going 100 mph. The idea that big backs should stray from Urban's offense is so dead. If you're a big back with a lick of speed, Urban's offense would be so fun to be in

Oh please let it be true. It's not like I need a reason to see what he's up to, but I would delight in what he'd have to say.

Yeah...that's not going to work. He's an in-state kid who was once committed to Michigan, and he goes to a high school that is/was a pipeline to Michigan. People are going to be talking about him on this board for the next four or five years in some form or fashion. You might as well just get used to it.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:18 AM ^
Same Scenario with Webb (Although Idk if he ever was a committ, just a highly targeted Cass player Michigan was interested in... )

Should we talk about Tate Forcier?

Hopefully nobody is trashing the kid. His cousin is Dymonte Thomas. Sometimes things just don't work out. Wish he came to Michigan but can't blame him for going to OSU. He'll have a shot at YSU and maybe get to the next level.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
on RBs or lack of them in this class is that they do not need 3 years to develop and their success is largely contingent on the OL play. Lineman on both sides of the ball are more critical in order to allow time to develop into a system. If there is no RB in this class its not that big a deal. If some kid is enamored with Meyer then let him go he wont be a good fit in AA. Meyer is going to the NFL after next year anyway.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:11 AM ^
It'd be hard to blame him. Elliott has a stanglehold on the starting job, and with all the different guys OSU can hand the ball off to, a lot of whom got meaningful playing time this year, that just doesn't leave a lot of room for Dunn. Especially if Meyer can convince Braxton to stay and switch positions.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:21 AM ^
on the QB position?
Injuries happen, and they change things, quickly.
January 27th, 2015 at 11:25 AM ^
He's behind Curtis Samuel too. And potentially Warren Ball, Mike Weber, etc. Unfortunately for Dunn he got buried behind Hyde and Elliott, two elite talents. Dunn's most impactful year was 2012, before Hyde really became Hyde.

Michigan (and the fans) rolled out the red carpet for Dunn. He was our savior, but chose to go to and subsequently not play at OSU. Good for him. Maybe he can sell used cars in Youngstown.
