OT: RAGSNOWROK Open Thread
I'm in Connecticut, and the governor declared a state of emergency beginning at 9pm EST. My establishment of employment is officially closed until said state is lifted, and it might not happen until Wednesday midday.
How's everyone on the east coast handling things thus far? Do we drink? Or do we re-enact a disaster film?

I spent a week in Dublin a few years back, not much fun.

At least Dublin is asthetically nice. It doesn't smell like coolers in Columbus on gameday.

As both a snow lover and amateur meteorologist, I'm jealous of you guys in the NE. Stay safe!

Road my bike to work today as it was 70* and sunny in Downtown Denver. Sorry MGoEast Coasters. Hang in there!

In my home in SE Michigan, living about a mile or so south of the main tower at Metro Airport, it is 17 degrees, clear for the most part, and rather dry. Indeed, we're not expecting measurable snow until Thursday here. For the MGoCommunity on the eastern seaboard, stay safe, don't go out unless there's nothing else for it, and drink and stay warm in general.

You guys have special taxes just to pay for your titanic snow removal operations. That said, I suppose if a glacier e3ver comes to town, you'll be able to contract yourselves out as some sort of wizards.

I never understood why people rush out to the grocery and stock up on all this food in preparation for these kind of things. What is the longest someone would be trapped in their house? 2 days? This isn't 1820.

I don't understand the people who wait in line to go buy water, bread and milk. I've got 3 cases of wine; I hope it lasts 48 hours.
January 26th, 2015 at 10:55 PM ^
If you run out of milk, you can pour some wine on your cereal.

Right? If you're truly worried about snowpocalypse, why wouldn't you get, oh.. I don't know... NON PERISHABLE FOOD?
January 26th, 2015 at 9:48 PM ^
That is all...all is well!

In Howard County. Took a nice 30 minute walk with the wife and dog. Pretty snow, not much acumulation.

wish we were getting that up here.
question: what does 'RAGSNOWROK' mean?
be safe, have fun, drink heavily until the snow stops.

In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is a series of apocalyptic events that will define the end of the world, where giants of frost and fire will together fight the gods in a final battle that will ultimately destroy the planet, submerging it under water.

explanation. still jealous they're getting all the snow though. bring some of those frost and snow gods over to our place, i'll front end load them onto the kids' sledding hill. hah, that'll teach them.
