CC: Baton Rouge Writer: "Take the Job Les"

Very neat article regarding Les' situation at LSU. Apparently one of his kids is considering Michigan for college. It also talks about how he is under appreciated at LSU and that he should follow his heart.
Personally, if both of the Harbros don't end up here (which seems pretty likely).. then my coaching list would be
1) Stoops (if genuinely interested)
2) Miles
3) Frost or Herman?
FWIW...

How is Harbaugh divisive. all of the fans love him. Maybe Debord and Carr would be upset at him for some reason but who gives a shit. Bo would like Jim to be our head caoch.

Do you know what's too devisive? Losing to OSU and MSU.
December 4th, 2014 at 4:32 PM ^
I sense this is a back-handed way of saying that many LSU fans (or at least, the one who authored the article) want a new coach.
December 4th, 2014 at 7:51 PM ^
yeah, but that is going to completely go over everyone's heads or be dismissed as SEC craziness. The truth is, LSU fans have wanted Les gone for a long, long time. There is a reason they rather vocally talk about him coming to Michigan even when our job isn't open and a lot of it is wishful thinking.
Posters here will continue to ignore this reality because it doesn't fit the narrative of Les Miles, coaching genius who is dying to come to Michigan. I predict I'll be negged no fewer than 4 times for this post, but you can go read their opinions for yourself. You can also look at people like Cowherd actually laughing at the idea to get some idea of how well respected Miles actually is outside of the Michigan fanbase.

What is all this about a search committee? If there was such a thing wouldn't Hackett have mentioned it at his press conference?
December 4th, 2014 at 4:46 PM ^
I don't care how popular Miles is with some of the fanbase, I'd take Mullen, Stoops, and Gundy before him assuming we can't get Harbaugh. I'm not saying Miles would be the worst hire, but his record is meh considering the institutional advantage LSU gives him and his offense is fucking horrid.
December 4th, 2014 at 7:23 PM ^
Well Michigan gives at least as much institutional advatage so if he comes here and wins just as much that's OK with me.

I'm just going to leave this here
From your permanent SEC Western Division opponent, welcome back to league Coach McElwain. Will enjoy continued great competition w/ Florida.

Les has never been, and will never be, an option for HC at UM. I sound like a broken record but with the Bovada odds at JiH, Les, and Schiano in that order, it is looking more and more like Schiano is UM's next HC.
December 4th, 2014 at 6:00 PM ^
Hackett is not that dumb. I don't care what Vegas oddsmakers say. Hackett cannot and will not hire Schiano as HC.
December 4th, 2014 at 7:25 PM ^
So he congratulated a coach? Big deal.
Any by permanent, he means LSU, not that he'll permanently be there.
December 4th, 2014 at 8:58 PM ^
Oh, so he felt the need to point out that LSU will be a permanent fixture in the SEC West? Seems pretty obvious and unnecessary. I'm not trying to say it's anything, maybe it's just a smoke screen. I just didn't see it posted anywhere, and felt it didn't need its own thread.
Carry on living.
December 4th, 2014 at 8:10 PM ^
I don't know what I'm suppose to get from that. What else would he say?
December 4th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
I don't know...nothing?

I don't know why Les would want to leave LSU. It's a match made in heaven.
He gets great recruits, he has Death Valley (at night for the really big games), he's in the SEC West which means that he can make the Playoffs without even winning the Division, and they let him be him . . . grass, pressers, game clock, all of it.
He's batshit crazy and they love him for it down on the bayou.
At Michigan, the first time he gave a less than articulate press conference (which would pretty much be his first press conference), we'd be all over his case. And he'd start out with half of the AD hating him before he even arrived.
Truthfully, if I was someone close to him, I would whisper in his ear "Don't do it. It's not the homecoming fantasy you think it is."

Just think what some on here will do to him for poor grammar, speech, phrases, etc. bolivia will at least have a new head coach.

they really don't love him down there, did you read the article in the OP? He is not highly thought of by LSU fans at all... basically the narrative down there is that the chimp could have achieved the results Les has and that they've fallen permanently behind Alabama because Les is an inferior coach. It's all right there in black and white.
If Les comes to Michigan it's because he wants to get out of the heat and I am not talking about Louisiana weather
December 4th, 2014 at 8:41 PM ^
Somebody sure likes him down there. Everytime Michigan needs a new coach, he gets a million dollar raise to stay at LSU.

We think we can lure every coach away. Saban is next on our radar.

People are jumping...no jetpacking to conclusions based on hearsay that no one as of yet has proven to actually have been stated.
Certain people need to calm the fuck down and let the process finish. Once we see who they hire then we can committ seppuku or write a chanson de geste in Hackett's honor.
December 4th, 2014 at 7:40 PM ^
Why leave a successful program, where the recruiting is easier and you get all the support you need? Why leave a comfortable situation? Why risk it all?
To move on to the next challenge, that's why. Because for some, routine = boring, and they thrive on building the next great thing, and building a legacy.
I'm intrigued by the possibility of Mullen, but I really like the idea of a Harbaugh, Stoops or Miles because those guys would be giving up something to come here. Skin in the game, actions speak louder than words. All that stuff.
