Sweet. Though I am pretty sure he had no flight risk to begin with.

Forcing your kid to play for Funk? Borderline child abuse
October 30th, 2014 at 11:39 AM ^
I highly doubt he'll be playing for Funk...
October 30th, 2014 at 2:12 PM ^
Good call, BostonWolverine. Runyan Sr knows that the University of Michigan is still, despite David Brandon's special "brand" of arrogance and bumbling incompetence, one of the top schools and top football programs in the NCAA. He knows that a housecleaning will happen in November.
Whoever Michigan decides to hire, Runyan Jr will be in good hands.
October 30th, 2014 at 4:22 PM ^
I mean, that kind of depends, doesn't it? After all, last time, they hired Funk.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:51 AM ^
Yeah, I'm a mandatory reporter, so hopefully Hoke and Funk get canned and I don't have to make that call to CPS.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:34 AM ^
Damn Right!
Hopefully he has also placed a call to San Francisco.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:37 AM ^
I have a better likelihood than Funk to be the OL coach next year. And my resume reads "IT guy and bartender." And I never submitted my resume to the Michigan athletic department. Still. I have better odds.
EDIT: In response to the child abuse comment.

Do you teach at pad level?
October 30th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
My thought here would be that, depending on the bar and its clientele, he would have rather a lot of experience with requiring good pad level. If that's the case, I think we could probably arrange this somehow through the blog's newfound prominence. The IT portion simply means this will be a forward team as far as integrating technology into the sport, I assume.

The Annexation of Puerto Rico... works Every. Damn. Time.

Jon Runyan Sr. approves that guy.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:41 AM ^
A question...do you believe past players who have their sons coming or thinking of coming to Michigan to play football have a different viewpoint on our current coaching situation? Maybe a bit less support, being a little more quiet, etc.?
Always easier when you aren't a parent.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
The answer to this question is most definitely a yes. Past players are some of the only left in the house still supporting Hoke. Additionally, his dedication to the livelihood of his team (regardless of wins, losses, and perceived development) is exactly the kind of dedication a parent should want for their child.
If you are a parent and you want your child to be on a winning football team a different opinion is warranted, but what parents cares most about the success of the team, rather than the success of their child?

"Michigan is an awesome school. I know you liked coach Hoke but they'll hire someone better, someone who will make you better and you still get to attend the greatest university in the world"

0 Cred from an institution that seems (rightly or wrongly) to be doing a terrible job lately at this whole "hiring thing."
October 30th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
Edit: Double post thingy.
October 30th, 2014 at 11:52 AM ^
Tell you what - if and when Hoke and crew get taken out of their current roles each and every one has a job with me if they want it. I've spent virtually my entire adult life either selling stuff or managing people to sell stuff and say you want about their ability to coach - THOSE DUDES ARE CLOSERS!
I mean it's easy to sell kids on going to Michigan when the team is good and the players are obviously getting better each year. But those cats are selling Michigan and the team sucks and just about everybody seems to regress in their development. Now that's a salesman who can make that deal a reality.
These guys are just in the wrong line of work.

Mitch and Murray have great leads. . . . Don't settle for second place and the set of steak knives.

An improvement in coaching by next year is a reasonable expectation

This would seem like a perfect time to come to Michigan as the program has nowhere to go but up.

I hope he's just speaking on his behalf, as opposed to speaking for him, lest it sound like Chris Speilman, "I'll tell ya where you're going..."

Senior said he didn't pressure Junior to choose Michigan, it was completely his choice.

What about Tyrone Wheatley Jr., he was considered a Michigan lean before the dumpster fire started in earnest?
October 30th, 2014 at 1:11 PM ^
Is it beneath his payscale?

plenty of time for him to remain hopeful especially when I turn this cluster**** around.
