10 men on the field for a punt return.
Just like the title says. At 10:45 in the 2nd, Rutgers is punting from midfield. Norfleet is deep by himself. 5 guys on the line. 2 players covering each Rutgers gunner.
1+5+2+2=10.
How in the blue fuck does this keep happening?
*****EDIT*****
Decided to look at the rest of the punts.
Next punt happens at 12:58 in the 3rd. Michigan was set with only 10 men. Had to run the 11th guy onto the field.
Next punt comes at 6:42 in the 4th. They have all 11 guys on the field this time!!
So, 10 guys for 1st punt.
11 guys for second, after they noticed they were 1 short.
11 guys for third.
I guess that is progress?

Sorry, don't know how. I pointed it out it on twitter, so we'll see what comes of it.

You need to upload to an image-sharing site like imgur and then link to it.

It needs to be uploaded to a site that hosts images (Flickr, imgur, ect) and then you can either drag the picture into the comment box or click the picture tab at the far right of a reply box. More details here.

OT and unrelated but have you been watching the Pitt games at all this year? Even though they've lost the past few games, I feel like Pitt has a great young team and the ability to make big waves in the ACC the next few yrs. I remember you said you had a connection there as well

Evidence Michigan had only 10 players on its punt return team at Rutgers. Norfleet's the only one deep. pic.twitter.com/iaPyvebuCF

shows only 9 players on the punt team. It's possible that two have already moved down field along with one Wolverine.
October 5th, 2014 at 1:13 PM ^
There are at least 10 Rutgers players in the picture.
October 5th, 2014 at 1:31 PM ^
There is 1 at the top of the field
There is 1 at the bottom of the field
There are 3 engaged with #3 & #4
There are 3 engaged with #5, #6, & #7
There is 1 punter
1+1+3+3+1 = 9
October 5th, 2014 at 2:46 PM ^
You are correct. Three pages of outrage, but no evidence it happened.

just keep on fighting the good fight, GoBluInTX.
I bet Hoke is about to turn it all around too.
October 5th, 2014 at 11:02 PM ^
He shouldn't have to also fight off made up allegations.
Edit:
Have now seen the entire play, there are indeed only 10 Wolverines on the field. If you scroll forward to 50:43 you can see the play both from the EZ and the sideline.

a version of one of these things on the sideline. Don't they fucking know how to use it?
October 5th, 2014 at 3:19 PM ^
just cause an amazing revelation that I must share immediately with the board:
None of these kids on the Michigan team grew up in the days when '10' really meant '10'.
As far back as any of them know, back to the mid-90's, there have been 11 (or more) teams in the Big Ten. How the hell do they get it right in a conference that can't get it right? How can Coach Hoke get it right when he never coached in the conference before faulty arithmetic took hold?

unbelievable that it could ever happen again after already getting burned for a punt return TD earlier this season while 1 short.
And then to nearly have our punt return team one man short a 2nd time at Rutgers last night? Piss-poor team management, piss-poor sidelines communication and preparation, piss-poor special teams coaching, PISS-POOR all the way around.
Can it all just stop???!!

Like I tried to explain in another thread- this was necessary. The 11th guy was on the sidelines looking for Brandon's helmet so he could QB

COUNTING IS NOT THAT FUCKING HARD

Pop Warner teams get this aspect of the game right consistently. Eleven men on the field is potentially in the first paragraph of the rule book.

October 5th, 2014 at 12:33 PM ^
There are so many things about this team that make zero sense. Most TFLs allowed in college football. Worst turnover margin in college football. 36 for 36. Negative rushing yards two games in a row. Not reaching the red zone two games in a row. I struggled for a long time trying to figure out what it was, but I'm at peace now knowing that it's all due to our coaching staff's incompetence. It's always better to know.
October 5th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
What if the 11th guy is responsible for counting the other 10 to make sure they are out there? It is entirely possible that he became so engrossed in this activity that he simply sometimes forgets to be on the field occasionally. Fundamentals, right? RIGHT?

why did we hurry to run a play near the end of the first half, only to give Rutgers additional time to score a TD at the end of the half instead of a FG, thereby costing us the game?
October 5th, 2014 at 11:47 AM ^
because if they screwed this up again then each member of the coaching staff should be outfitted with an abacus so they can keep track of things.

I went back to the recording, as painful as that was, because I couldn't believe this was true either. There is no way they screw this up again. BUT... yep, 10 guys. I counted 11 times to be sure, it wasn't that hard.
These things really shouldn't surprise or upset me anymore, but unfortunately they do.
