OT - Jayru Campbell Arrested...Again
I'm sure many of you remember the story of Cass Tech QB Jayru Campbell. For those of you who do not, here is a refresher: Jayru was a one time Michigan target (never offered but I believe he visited a couple times) and Michigan State commit who was sent to jail earlier this year after body slamming a security guard at his school.
Per a tweet from The D Zone (they follow HS players in MI) today at 4pm EDT, Jayru Campbell was released from prison this afternoon.
Per a tweet from The D Zone at 6pm EDT Jayru Campbell has been arrested again.
At first I thought I had read a tweet from months ago. I did not. Apparently, and amazingly enough given the NFL news this week, Jayru has been arrested for assaulting his girlfriend. The story is still developing, but here is a link to the breaking story on Channel 4 News Detroit:

He is most certainly not going to receive an offer to play for a D1 school any longer, which is a shame, as he had a lot of potential. Hopefully he can get himself the help he needs. There is no excuse for assaulting someone you supposedly love.

He's a preditor. There is not going to be a "pretty please" solution. He will need some hard tough limits placed on him that are not negotiable. And it still may not work.

management counseling was part of his sentence. It seems to have worked well.
I don't think there is hope for him. He seems to have something wrong or still feels entitled. He will have a new permanent residence soon.

When he was in court the first time, the judge sentenced him under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act.
It only took him two hours to violate the conditions of the program and if he had finished, he had the opportunity to walk away with no charges on his record.

Toledo took Csont'e. Why not Jayru?

Article isn't clear if the assault happened before he went in or not. DA easily could've been investigating a previous complaint and just now decided to press charges. Either way he needs serious help.

It's pretty clear. It says he was released, went to the school, and proceeded to attack the girl after he took her phone and read her text messages.

He would be captain material in East Germa........er Lansing. Naw I fun ya....its sad to see a kid throw away his chance to make all his dreams come true. Possibly ruin his life. Also put the school on alert, he could do something really drastic God forbid, he only knows what and I don't want to speculate but this story could end very bad if someone doesn't give this kid some helpful guidance.

Getting arrested 2 hours after getting released from jail is just crazy. This is a troubled young man, and I hope that he gets whatever help he needs. However, in my opinion, he is not doing a very good job of convincing anyone that he wants help or that he has learned anything from his previous punishment.

How many of you came from stable two parent homes especially where a father was involved in your life?
All you need to do is research the break up of the black family where ~70% of the children born typically have no father figure in their life.
There lies the problem we have seen for a few decades and is only getting worse. All you have to do is look at hip hop culture, for one, to see that a culture that doesn't respect authority, education, women etc is bound to self explode. Jeyru and countless others are examples of it. And there is no easy fix.
Misguided public policy are turning boys into monsters.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear about him going in and out of jail for the next few years.

I'm with Magnus though, lock him up until he's proven he's rehibilitated.
His football career is over for the most part...maybe he gets a shot from a community college down the road and can play semi-pro or something. But none of that is important right now, tomorrow, next week or next year.
Keep him away from innocent people until he's proven he can exist in our society without committing crimes.
