Evening / Late Night Games Open Thread
I was frankly shocked that no such thread was currently up as we're typically so conscious of the slate. No matter, a few notable ones:
Florida State / Oklahoma State - currently 10-0 FSU with the first quarter nearly over.
LSU / Wisconsin - this should be an interesting one. I think it is the only SEC / Big Ten game scheduled this season.
Oregon / South Dakota - Prediction? Pain. No, seriously, the line has Oregon winning by an amount yet to be computed.

load up the box so they can't run and dare them to throw.

I wonder if Gordon got hurt. Makes no sense to not utilize him for 10 minutes.

Where's Nick Toon? Isn't in his 9th year of eligibility?

What about Abbrederis?
August 31st, 2014 at 12:36 AM ^
He ruined his knee... somewhere in the NFL.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:33 AM ^
Well that was a good play
*fart noise*

Looks like that LSU player got a concussion and is staggering along the sideline and no trainers? Boggling.

Not necessarily a bad strategy. They had 4th and long inside their own 10. Of course, youve got to be confident in your defense to get one more stop.

No one is back deep for LSU
Miles is strange.

Agreed on both counts.

He could have been defending against a fake.

Letting the ball hit the turf and bounce around kills time. No way was that going to go to the LSU 20 so no return needed. I was yelling at my TV for the Wisconsin players to "down the damn ball".
Horrendous coaching. I would love to see mathlete's analysis of punting with less than 2 minutes left vs going for it on 4th down when you MUST score a TD.
At that point, Wisconsin couldn't stop LSU's offense so why give it back to them?

Injuries, etc, but Wisconsin got outcoached as much as anything.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:36 AM ^
McEvoy is moving from Sheridan to Bellomy-against-Nebraska rapidly. Wisco passing is so mind-blowingly incompetent I can't even be mad about that decision to punt.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:40 AM ^
2 great parallels. I had Steven Threet in the first half rather than Sheridan as he actually made 2 rope throws on the run... but your 2nd half parallel is dead to rights.

That was definitely the turning point. It was what, 24-7 then? Then LSU went right down and scored and the choke was on

Bitter loss for Wiscy.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:42 AM ^
Wisconsin truly fucked this up in a painful way.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:44 AM ^
If those 2 defenders are gone all year - and both look like they could be, and Iowa today is the real Iowa, looks like Nebraska will be the team from that side. Wisconsin is basically Minnesota right now but with a better RB.

As Mike Valenti would say...PUCKER PUCKER PUCKER

So was the most impressive opponent defeated this week by the Big 10 Navy? I guess them, Centra Florida or Washington State. Thanks Rutgers...
August 31st, 2014 at 12:48 AM ^
Why? Just, why?
August 31st, 2014 at 12:48 AM ^
is why did Wisconsin decide to stop giving the ball to Melvin Gordon? He's one of the best back in the country and he had 3 carries in the 2nd half. He was well on his way to having a great game of potentially running for over 200 yards.
That would've take the ball off McEvoy's hands who was terrible all game long.

Did i hear that right? Wisconsin doesn't play Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, or Penn St this year? Wow did they just piss away a golden opportunity to run the table and go in the playoff.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:08 AM ^
Somehow this is also true of Iowa. Big Ten scheduling is baffling.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:20 AM ^
That's what happens when you only have 2 games against the 7 teams in the opposite division. The B1G is too big.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:40 AM ^
the division is unbalanced in competitiveness.
August 31st, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
14 teams is too many, period. Every year we miss five league opponents, and in our case all but Nebraska are traditional B1G teams.
August 31st, 2014 at 9:35 AM ^
On the other side, Rutgers plays Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn State, us, OSU and MSU.
What a way to welcome a new team.
August 31st, 2014 at 9:37 AM ^
Not necessarily. Isn't Barry Alvarez a playoff voter?
Edit: this was in response to 7words above.

I went to bed before it was over but how did Wiscy manage to choke that away?

Well yeah but they were dominating that game. They were up 11 when I fell asleep! Looks like they only had about 30 yards of offense in the second half.

They looked like a bigger Air Force out there and the wheels fell off when they had to throw. That's gonna be a big challenge for GA. On the bright side, Fournette looked like crap so, wooo, bullet dodged.
