Countdown to Kickoff - Day 22
I haven't watched it yet but how does the O-Line's form look in THIS video? /s
The OL really struggled in pass coverage. Footwork was all over the place, could flip their hips, and frankly just let the WRs run right by them. Guess that's why We don't have Mags lining up at NB in an effort to immediately move Peppers to starting SS.
Damn, we're going to lose so much now
You must not have been here for yesterday's fun. It was glorious
it was interesting to watch. Unfortunately, we won't have that type of fun again until after the season starts. /Bolivia'd

But tell me you wouldn't love to see LTT playing a deep half.

My childhood had a plethora of hours wasted (not wasted) doing such activities on Madden/NCAA football. I REGRET NOTHING!
or watch videos of recruit Roseboro playing RB and almost SS like position.
I've watched the video now 61 times in both slo-motion and super slo-motion and having watched a lot of football on TV through high school AND college I can give you an expert's take on what's going on. Suffice it to say it's NOT pretty.....
To begin with the right tackle is up and out of his stance too early thereby losing leverage. It's also clear the right guard's footwork is a complete mess as he's using a jab step far to early to get proper hip rotation. Center's head is down and stays down which is a problem when trying to pick up his line calls and any blitz assaigments. Left gaurd is back on his feet and will be unable to deliver a decent first punch. Likely he will get blown off the ball unless he gets his center of gravity down. Right tackle is a bit out of frame but it appears while his footwork seems solid his hands are down and he's likely to catch the hit instead of delivering it.
Funk's clearly got some work to do.
Apparently you know a lot about football. Apparently the rest of us don't know shit. Apparently you got up a 5am, mowed the grass, fed the dog, washed the car, painted the house, played with your 3 month old, porked the wife, fed the cows and will now get drunk for the next 7 days on your rented pontoon boat.
Why don't you go tweet teenagers?
Because the girl's Fathers always tweet back.

Absolutely brilliant!

Apparently YOU don't know just how fucking smart I am. Well let me tell you - I'm pretty goddamn fucking smart - that's how smart I am. I just wish the dumbasses on the board (and let me tell you - there are a shit-ton lot of dumbasses on this board) could fully appreciate my smartness.
Sadly they cannot. Because they are dumbasses.

I love this place. Damn it's fun.
August 8th, 2014 at 10:50 AM ^
That's enough about me, lets talk about you. What do YOU think of ME?
August 8th, 2014 at 10:55 AM ^
You're on the board right?
And you're not me.
Therefore you must be a dumbass
from an Army commercial about doing more before 9am than most people do in a day?
This is incredible! They got guards in the backfield! The center's on the right! And the quarterback isn't even there! ( They are just standing around Butz!)

I call it "The annexation of Puerto Rico......."

What about the thumbs?
they're not opposable?
We aren't qualified to say.
I like the guy a lot and what he has to say, but his voice is grating to my ears. Count me as someone who's happy he's not the play-by-play guy.
He strikes me as a high-character kind of guy and seems pretty down to earth. It's easy to root for him, I hope he can bring along the other guys at the vacant safety position as well as take that next big step in his game.
Man, already two different plugs for Peppers in these segments
August 8th, 2014 at 10:21 AM ^
It's good you've tempered your expectations, but let's be honest with ourselves, every is hoping Peppers really is Woodson, and not just a Next Woodson as Seth called them a while back. I can rationally say it's ridiculous to expect any kid to replicate Woodson, but damn, if anybody can reasonably come close it's Peppers. I'm not sure who Woodson had to beat out in '95, but he started all 12 games as a true freshman and had 5 picks. CB/Nickel is a position which a talented true freshman really can make an impact; he doesn't have to change his body, doesn't require as intricate reads, and can make up for some mental deficencies with pure athleticism.
That said, even if he doesn't have a true freshman year like Woodson, even Patrick Peterson didn't start until the last 4 games of his freshman year and only had 1 pick that year, and he's the only CB I can really think of since Woodson that came close to being Woodson. So yeah, it's not the end of the world if Peppers doesn't destroy the world his freshman year, but it's totally understandable why everyone is focused on him.
Huh, I don't know Jarrod Wilson at all, but isn't saying Peppers is a"hard worker" kind of like saying a girl has a "nice personality"?
Probably means nothing. If Wilson had said Peppers was the best football player he'd seen in his life, I'd probably be leery of that, too. Anyway.
August 8th, 2014 at 10:37 AM ^
I've got a pretty strong feeling that Peppers' work ethic is a tad excessive. One of those guys where your first response upon seeing it is to say "that's crazy and stupid" (despite how it sounds I'm complimenting Peppers here).
Probably just reading too much into stuff I've read and heard, though.
I'm excited about the secondary this year, though. And that excitement has little to do with Peppers.
August 8th, 2014 at 11:27 AM ^
I do like the cut of Jarred Wilson's gib. Interesting he was asked to comment on Peppers I would have liked to have heard him say "Is he one of our new freshman? I think he will make the cut."

Boy, I tell you, that was a Heisman-like punch he put on that wall.
August 8th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
Sorry, but he had poor hand placement on the wall and his head was down. He was not shuffling his feet fast enough. This kid has a long way to go before he sees the field for Michighan.
Now excuse me while I go cut the grass and do whatever else I need to get done today.

There is really nice experience and depth all over the defense this year. Added depth will really pay off late in games where we will pull away or close the gap. I'm still wondering who will win the open safety position. I am hoping DThomas wins it, just because I would love to have that much more speed on the field. If you have Countess, Taylor, Wilson, Thomas, Peppers in the secondary, then I think the team speed at the back end would be deadly. I wanna see these guys fly around and fk.sht.up. We will see a ton of 3WR+ sets and the need for a third corner will be often.

First, let me say that the parody in this thread is something I would expect from this blog and did you ever deliver on it - I was almost rolling on the floor at my desk in the middle of a very large office area.
Second, the secondary is one group that I will most interested to see in terms of the supposed depth chart (note: supposed, because "depth chart"...) later this month. We're at a point, I believe, where we are rather deep here, so I am intrigued to see who the projected starters and #2 players will be at each position. For me, part of that is just curiosity about where Peppers fits in at the end of camp, but I do believe that we are looking at a position group that will do well this year.
calling you arrogant.

My expectation - and do feel free to tell me if this is lofty - is that you, as someone who purports knowledge of the sport, would present your opinions in a constructive and non-abrasive manner. If someone disagrees, I expect them to do the same and I expect that your reply - if you choose to provide one - be in kind. If you can't agree with the other person, "eh, whatever", but try not to come off as "I am right and the rest of you can suck it".
What I don't expect - and what could eventually get you a ticket out of here - is what you're still doing in this this thread, albeit to a far lesser extent. I don't expect you to come in here and belittle people who may not have as much technical knowledge of the sports as you claim to have. If that's the approach you take as a teacher of the game, I have to question why you are in such a position.
Oh, well.
do you keep coming back? and IIRC nobody called you an idiot, just that you come across as arrogant, defensive and dismissive. You might have the best football mind in the world but if you can't share your knowledge in a way that people want to learn then go write books or become an obnoxious broadcaster.
But, at least I'll get my 100th MGopoint with this post!
pandering was occurring just so I can get you sub 100.
(I'll toss you random plus ones at a later date).
edit: and you got an upvote while I was typing that out, ruining my entire scheme.
Tiny fist shook in your direction.
You're not going to have that job much longer.
