OT: Jameis Winston In Legal Trouble For Stealing Crab Legs

Submitted by Sports on

The headline says it all. "Jameis Winston Citation for Shoplifting Crab Legs at Publix."

This has to be one of the strangest offseason arrest notices we'll see.

EDIT: Original headline reported he had been arrested. Following a press release, it's been revealed that he was only issued a citation. Header changed to account for that.

I wonder what must have been going through his head (other than "I'm hungry") to think that no one would stare at the HEISMAN WINNER as he left a Florida Supermarket.  I mean come on, there is no good way to hide crab legs!!  There is absolutely something a little odd with his judgement.

You can say what you will about this young man's long history of perplexing and very disturbing behavior, but there is no doubt that he has great culinary taste.

I won the Heisman Trophy, the QB of the winning NC team, had a very high profile legal issue, still live in that same college town, nobody will ever reconginze me - Let's do it!

This dude has some serious judgement issues... The stupidity of stealing crab legs is unbelievable.

Just sit down at a red lobster with your non-football friend. Wait until someone in the bar notices you (should take about 30 seconds) and offers to pick up your tab. Order nothing. Have your friend order everything. Eat said friends food from a side plate. NCAA scandal overted. Bag Men happy. JaMIESSS is fulllllllll

But he is a 2 sport star, shouldn't he be given free food from all stores in greater Tallahassee? I mean the school simply cannot be expected to provide enough food for an athlete who plays multiple sports.

Can't afford to pay for crab?  Steal it.
Can't afford to pay for sex? Steal that too...and it won't even count if the prosecutor covers up for you.

Good thing he wasn't peeing into an NCAA-sanctioned cup when he was caught; he'd be banned for a lifetime.

Seriously, though, someone at FSU just needs to attach himself/herself to him 24/7 for another year and stop him from screwing up.  I get that whatever happened with that sexual assault probably won't come out until he's gone, but FSU desperately needs to keep him out of the police blotter.

I can't wait until someone makes the argument 'this is why we should pay players/give them money.' NCAA athletes should be entitles to their crab legs because all the other college students can eat them anytime they want. Give me a break. Such entitlement.

I mean, that's exactly what I thought when I saw the picture of Terrelle Pryor in front of his fancy (and free) rental car, which average Ohio students could rent at no cost without raising any hackles from misguided opposing fans...
