NCAA Tourney MBB v Texas Game Thread
There is some Steve Fisher halftime entertainment on TNT to kill time.
is only temporary. Efficiency will soon return.
I just hope this team stays hot
Gottta keep pouring it on. As we saw as recently as yesterday teams have come back from this much down with much less time to go
I hate the Walton ended up wasting a foul b/c no one else remember to after the substitutions.
Ridley 2 shot attempts, Holmes 4. Meanwhile their 3 starting guards have 19 attempts. Yes, that's coaching.
Knock em out in the first couple minutes of the half boys

Only semi-sarcastic. Heavily influenced by a fandom defined by gut-punches.
where JMo had 0 fouls?
Just keep being efficient on offense, snatch up those rebounds, and we'll be in good shape. We're putting on an offensive clinic right now.
I realize Va Tech's colors are kind of weird but what the fuck is up with Buzz William's wardrobe? Light blue shirt, maroon paisley tie, orange pocket square?
No, bro.
ill-advised passes and a totally screwed-up final 15 seconds, we're humming at full throttle today. No foul trouble, hitting 3's, hitting FT's, J-Mo fully engaged at both ends of the court.
Let's finish them off quickly in half #2!
College athletics being a business is smacking us in the face right now. When the head coach at VT is flying all over the country to get on TV during the tournament and talking about securing recruits hours after leaving his Marquette team it seems a little dirty to me.
Happy that Morford have fouls to give in the 2nd half. Worried that officals will start to call fouls they didn't in the first half and keep ignoring the fouls Texas is dishing out whenever we drive. If we can keep lighting it up from the outside that won't matter, but it was frustrating to see none the less.
But according to people in the last game thread, we were lucky to win another game.
We haven't won this one yet.
Texas has to come out and contest the threes; I would look to iso Nic/LeVert and get them some drives or drive/dish looks
At least they called it both ways. A lot of times, they let Matta and Izzo maul us and then call us for everything on the other end.
Apropos of nothing, Amedeo della Valle is leaving Ohio State to play pro-ball in Italy so he can be a negligible benchwarmer but get paid a pittance in lira
Everytime I saw that guy, I couldn't help but think we dodged a bullet. I never saw him do anything good.
Min | Pts | Ast | Reb | Stl | TO | |
Albrecht | 834 | 198 | 101 | 69 | 29 | 31 |
Della Valle | 501 | 171 | 10 | 80 | 11 | 27 |
Euros, but yes.
The other thing to work on is slowing down the UT OREBs. Getting nit picky after a great half, but it seemed a good chunk of their points were second-chance. We may just be out-sized here, but would be nice to see that number lower in the 2nd half.
One of the most unbearable halftime "shows" in history. Did VATech pay the sponsorship fee?
With all that's happened in the first rounds of the tournament and CBS acts like it's some sort of major exclusive to interview the new coach of a very poor ACC team. Strange and awkward to see the panel try to fake interest.
Wouldn't surprise me honestly if I found out they did. College athletics is a business, gotta spend some money on advertising
Best quote from Longhorn's board "just foul them every time! At least they can only score 2 points that way."
and then just hold it to the end. I'll be (possibly unnecessarily) worried if Texas comes out and makes a litte 4-6 point run
Frankly, Wofford was more threatening though. At least they played hard defense and could get inside. Texas isn't doing much of either to this point.
I'm worried refs will try to even up the team fouls at the expense of Morgan
I was terrified Texas would go down low early and often and would get Morford in foul trouble but for whatever reason it seems like they've barely tried it. If I was coaching Texas that's for sure what I would've done. Texas will lose a game of horse badly.
Holmes went down to post GR3 quite a few times in first 4 minutes. GR3 played nice defense. The lack of going to Ridley is just stupid but I'm thankful.
Amadeo Della Valle is the most Ohio person ever.
It feels like because the refs don't want to seem biased by calling lots of fouls for the other team and few for the other team, they are reluctant to call the mugging that Texas is doing right now. This is all despite the fact that everyone knows we don't foul so there's no need to "balance" the calls to make the refereeing fair...
avoid having them come out on fire and cutting into the lead by more than a couple
Texas will make a run, teams half decent always will - please refrain from panic unless they get it to within 4. TIA.
2-3 zone. Yes please.
