M Lacrosse wins 11-10 at Bellarmine; first conference win in program history!!
Didn't get to see or follow the game as I was watching Basketball.
But holy cow, this is a huge win for Michigan.
Before the season started, when Logan went out with an injury, we all thought the season was going to be a wreck. Michigan is now 4-4, DOUBLING their COMBINED win total from the past TWO seasons!
This is the second road win in program history, the first-ever conference win and their first win in the ECAC.
And don't look now, but Michigan is in FIRST PLACE in the ECAC. The preseason favorite buckeyes are 1-4 on the season.
You are not going to believe these stats-
Faceoffs: 21-3 Michigan (!)
Groundballs: 31-21 Michigan
Shots: 45-40 Michigan
Thomas Paras had two goals, but the game was a true team effort with NINE Wolverines netting a goal. This should give Michigan some jump into their step as they return home next week to face the #1 team in the nation, Maryland.
First D1 win. Club lacrosse was sooo much easier.

C'MON HOCKEY TEAM
If hockey wins, cloud fucking nine.
They need to win tonight or have to do the same old BS of winning the B1G Tournament TO get into the NCAAs.

The top 4 teams make the conference tournament in Columbus the weekend of May 2-4.
Is the red/gray team bad to the point that we could take a game off of them this year? I bet that's still just a pipe dream with the raw talent they have stockpiled.
i don't have a wealth of lax knowledge by any means, but it seems to me that considering how well we played Cornell, we have some sort of shot against Ohio.
We absolutely have a shot. Hell, we played OSU close two years ago when our team was far worse (and theirs was better). But we also lost to High Point and played like crap. So it depends on how we play that day.
Doubtful. OSU is a very fundamentally sound lax team, and Cornell is definitely down, and they will be better later in the year than they are now, now that they can practice on a full field. I was very impressed with them when I watched Ohio play Hopkins early in the year. That game is probably still available to watch on WatchESPN if you want to check them out.
OSU is not closing out games very well this year, but they are still dangerous. They got a lot closer to JHU and Penn St. than we did, and took UMass to OT (UMass beat PSU today).
However, Cornell did just beat Virginia and Yale in consecutive weeks, so they are not quite dead themselves. It's the same old story: tough to infer things from common opponents.

The game is at Ohio Stadium, not in Ann Arbor. We've hosted it the past two years.
We all knew that it would be a tough transition - and this win is HUGE!
Hail to the Victors! Go Blue Lax!
This puts us in a good position for the ECAC tourney, with a possible NCAA bid on the line

What is your vision of where they should be in five years? Competing with Maryland, Hopkins, PSU and OSU for Big Ten championships? I have no doubt they will get there, but I think 5 years from the inception of the program is a bit ambitious to be at that level. At least it's ambitious to be at that level consistently. But I do think they will be a very good lacrosse team in a couple more years. Think in the 20-30 range on Laxpower.
Their results this year are a pretty good indication that they are on the right track. Winning what was essentially a tournament game, on the road, outdoors (I assume they have not practiced outdoors at home yet) yesterday was huge for a team this young. But keep in mind that they won that game in OT despite winning almost every faceoff. If Lott doesn't go off, do they have a shot?
Is the Maryland game on Tuesday in Oosterbaan or will the Big House be ready? If it's inside, I like Michigan's chances to make it fairly close. If it's outside, could be ugly.

mgoblue.com says the Tuesday game is outside at the Big House, and I haven't heard anything to contradict that. I think they will have the stadium ready.
