B1G 10 Tournament Session 2 Open Thread
2 Wisconsin vs 7 Minnesota 6:30 (already started)
3 Staee vs 11 Northwestern 25 minutes after
Lets go Minnesota and Northwestern
Working on the probabbility matix for the BTT as I was this morning in between spurts of work, the evening matchups here are actually the more lopsided games per their algorithm, although not by much. Wisconsin has an estimated 72% chance and Michigan State has an estimated 85% chance. Actually, the most even game in their simulation was Ohio State-Nebraska (64% for OSU).
Wisconsin on a 14-5 run. Up 9
I fear this is going to be a really boring game.
It kills me that Kaminsky is probably not an early entry guy. He's so damn good.
Always bothers me when a big man can shoot the 3 too. It just seems unfair to be so huge and also be able to shoot the 3
To be big, to be able to shoot the three, to be able to compete on the block, and to be mobile - that is a tough combo.
Damn you, Bo Ryan.
So I've been watching for 14 minutes real time, and 20 seconds have come off the clock. Way too many commercials.
And very unevenly. Partly due to the nature of dead-ball timeouts, but you often get 6 minutes of play,(commercial) followed by 3 30 second segments(3 commercials), then another 6 minute segment (commercial), then the end of the game is usually at least 3 commercials in the last 2 minutes. Not sure there is a way to fix that.
The gophers are getting killed. Going to be uncomfortable on Sunday for their fans. Still think they make it given the weak bubble and the extra four spots (thanks first round).
Iowa State is looking like final four material...they look TOUGH...inside and out
also playing right now. Both teams are competitors for the last 1 seed. And unlike Wisconsin we cant beat them.
Kansas tied 46 46 on ISU with a minute to go
NC State up in Cuse with a minute to go
Is Louiville not in contention for a 1-seed because they play in the AAC? You'd think they would have a shot at one at 27-5 and winning 10 of their last 11 games (ranked #5). Despite that, Lunardi still has them on the 3 line.
Nigel Hayes (spelling) is going to be a burden on us and teams for the next few years. Dude has game.
Damn, did not know that. Watching him it seems as though he can play in any system but I do agree, it would be a different fit.
Not the BTT but Iowa State is leading Kansas in a foulfest 66-57. 11 and a half left and Kansas looks awful in the second half.
Go U Northwestern
w/NC state
Seems like none of the top seeds want to win any of these tournaments. Nova is out, KU is on the ropes, UM struggled a bit but at least held on. They win tomorrow, I figure they're a lock for a high 2 seed at the least regardless of what happens in the BTT final, and honestly they could be a 1 if Duke struggles.
Could just be the final piece of evidence to say confidently that there isn't a group of elite teams this year. With the lack of elite teams, and talent spread out everywhere, everyone is saying this is the year for true madness.
Russ Smith dropped 42 against Houston.
Perry Ellis has 30 so far against ISU, but it looks like they are going to lose.
Team at the top of my Do Not Want List:
Louisville. O. M. G. that team is on fire.
CJ Fair is 3-15 from the floor. Ew.
A player that maybe should have left last season in the weaker draft...?
LOL at the end of this Cuse/ NC State game. How many attempts was that? 6?
That possession by 'cuse looked like something from the IM Building.
Holy onslaught by Syracuse!
Cuse got 6 OREBs on that last possession and got nothing for it. NC State is going to win
Syracuse had 6 shots by my count and missed them all. One of the crazier finishes I have seen. None were even close. Syracuse out of the running to pass Michigan.
Holy crap! Syracuse down 3 to NC State with 30 seconds left. They had 6 offensive rebounds to try and tie the score but missed them all.
That's more offensive rebounds than Michigan gets in a entire game.
...the color guy at this NC State/Syracuse game wondered how 'cuse wouldn't be a one-seed if they won this tourney. Um, becuase they suck?
Or Demps. Or Olah. Or anyone else on NW. Just as long as someone has a career night against sparty.
win this tournament and the #1 seed is ours.
I saw Villanova still falling and Wisconsin and Michigan getting closer. I think if one of those teams win out they get a #1 seed. I know bracket matrix is a guide and not absolute and it may depend on if MSU beats Wisconsin.
KU Goes down too, is that a lock for KU at a 2 seed then.
I doubt they are a two. They may fall to three.
that looks pretty good. Admittedly, I know nothing about American or Baylor/AzState.
That should kick them out.
How in the world was that a charge on Crawford?
This Tournament (NCAA) is looking like it's going to have scarier teams along the 2-4 seeds than the 1-seeds (though I'm one of the few that think Wichita St. is legitmate). But Cuse', Kansas, UNC, Louisville, Wisconsin, etc are all off of the 1-seed line but are scary as hell, making for a probable scary bracket for all teams. Hell, Iowa is probably a 10-seed or so at this point, and if they can figure some things out over the next week, have fun with that unfortunate 7-seed!
Oh boy. Izzo already having to call on some wierd guys.
If that is a charge on Crawford, then B1G refs owe Spike about 20 calls for all of the "blocks" in which he got steamrolled with a lowered shoulder and/or extended forearm.
Payne's body language just doesn't look right. He looks like he's laboring going up and down the court. Or maybe he's mad they never give him the ball in the post?
