Catapult rumors
Not sure if these rumors about OSU and Catapult will amount to anything https://gbmwolverine.com/posts/michigan-wolverines-news-ohio-state-embarrassed-catapult-rumors-heating-up-01hjxcd9wcf7
but for now that + the epic Cotton Bowl performance has made this a pretty good Saturday so far

This feels like one of those player safety issues?!
December 30th, 2023 at 12:58 PM ^
Seems like a convenient conspiracy to fire Day for some kinda cause
December 30th, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
I said yesterday that it's probably a leak from Galloway for exactly this reason.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
Ironically (in that I don’t for a second believe the media wanted to actually cover this), they kind of got forced into covering it because the Alabama players had mentioned in interviews how they were watching film together, rather than separately on devices.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:12 PM ^
They were very happy to cover it when they thought it was all about Michigan cheating. Now they're reluctant because it's apparent that Michigan is a victim.
I still can't quite figure out why Alabama decided this was necessary. Michigan is not the one stealing data from Catapult.
The charitable view of Bama is they just simply decided better safe than sorry, not worth the risk if Catapult is having any possible issues. The cynical view is they let it slip the way they did on purpose to try to make it seem like Michigan was up to no good and cause a distraction.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:14 PM ^
Right? Right.
I tend toward the charitable, just in the sense that the first time I saw it come up in an Alabama interview was in the context of how it fostered team bonding.
December 30th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
@Henson Mobile,
Because once the data is out there, it starts getting leaked and shared between teams- just like OSU colluding with other teams to share UM’s signs.
All of this was a huge nothing burger, but Day, media, and Pettite (most likely because he is a tv guy and not a football guy and was bullied into believing bs by opposing coaches because he lacks knowledge on how common this all is), went all in on destroying UM’s season and gaslighting Harbaugh and staff on the one thing Harbaugh holds most dear - fair competition.
Day is so cringe and a coward and soft as shit coach - accusing others of that which you are guilty of- and possibly much worse- is a classic passive aggressive, born on 3rd move. Everything about OSU under Day is glorious and absurd..the crying, the softness, the excuses to the unhinged rants- Lou Holtz, penguin pregame whistle dance, stressing on signing day about 5 stars! like a fan in a chat room. He’s broken their program and fanbase- no matter the talent they recruit.
Dude is just not built for this. OSU is a top 3-5 program/HC job in CFB. Nothing about Ryan Day suggests he can handle the stress and responsibilities of running a multi billion dollar enterprise.
tldr: Stole signs and that can be shared; Ryan Day is bitchmade
December 30th, 2023 at 3:11 PM ^
Definitely better to be safe than sorry.
All it takes is some OSU staffer or Catapult employee who hates Saban or Alabama or just wants to change the odds on his bet, and suddenly, if not the actual video, a detailed "scouting report" shows up in the right coach's email.
December 30th, 2023 at 5:42 PM ^
Only one thing matters to Saban: Winning. If there was even a remote chance that Catapult could be breached again, he's not going to use it and I don't blame him.
December 31st, 2023 at 5:16 AM ^
I still can't quite figure out why Alabama decided this was necessary.
I don't think it was an orchestrated PR attack on Michigan by Alabama. The Alabama players being interviewed interpreted their restrictions on using personal devices as a Michigan thing since that is all they have been hearing for the last 2 months.
As far as putting restrictions on them using personal devices, that's a Saban paranoia thing. Once he got wind that there may have been some Catapult issues, he implemented them. So did we.

don't know if it's true, don't know if this has any credibility but it's funny to see Ohio state on the other end.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:07 PM ^
I've put out an APB for Thamel, Wasserman and Feinbaum among others. Perhaps they've just taken the holidays off.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
That's a fake news account. They also reported that Marvin Harrison Jr. is in the transfer portal.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:01 PM ^
It’s a more speculative account than fake news. I suggest people read through their tweets. It isn’t fake news per se.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
This would be entertaining.
Only problem is that I don't really want Day suspended or his employment at OSU in jeopardy... *shrug*
December 30th, 2023 at 1:06 PM ^
That's a tough one but I think it's a price worth paying. After the season is over, Michigan should issue a statement saying they want Ryan Day suspended immediately since the precedent has been set.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:12 PM ^
Yep. He needs to sit the first three games next year MINIMUM.
Edit: and make sure they don't inform him until 24 hours before the opener.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
They can inform the team by telling ESPN first.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:20 PM ^
No should be the last three games as opposed to the soft non-conference schedule they have next year. Wait, no, on second thought, we want Day on the sidelines against us!
December 30th, 2023 at 1:21 PM ^
I disagree.. the opener isn’t fair - which is against Akron. The B1G needs to look into this, and - Petitti needs to issue his ruling on Friday - October 11th - when the Bucks are on their flight to play at Oregon.
The three (or more) game stretch would be 1) at Oregon, 2) hosting Nebraska, and 3) at Penn State.
December 30th, 2023 at 8:36 PM ^
Last three you mean?
December 30th, 2023 at 1:03 PM ^
I don't see anything new from yesterday except a tweet that asserts it's OSU under investigation. They're just assuming it's OSU based on circumstantial evidence which, again, is not new. There are no sources that indicated it's OSU under investigation.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
Based on the reactions from basically all Michigan beat writers, it’s definitely OSU
December 30th, 2023 at 1:29 PM ^
As it should be. I could care less at this point if this story isn’t true at all about OSU. The way they were just flinging anything and everything about signgate would serve at least a little justice.
December 31st, 2023 at 5:20 AM ^
Absolutely. Kick them when they are down. They deserve it. Make them losing to Mizzou in humiliating fashion not even the worst news of their week.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:30 PM ^
I'm sure it is. We're probably the ones who accused them. I'm just saying it's not actually confirmed.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:14 PM ^
I can see why law enforcement wouldn't necessarily want everyone to know how much they know. I'd expect close-lipped "cooperation" from everyone for a while.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Nothing on 11 Warriors about this. I wonder why.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
There was a post last night on Eleven Warriors but their mods put the kibosh on it, saying no posts unrelated to the game were allowed.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:06 PM ^
there’s also indications, the mods have deleted any post related to catapult. if you Google Eleven Warriors and catapult, you’ll see a couple posts that have been deleted.
December 31st, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
Looks like easily more than a couple have been deleted/removed:

December 30th, 2023 at 2:19 PM ^
Well at least we know that Michigan is not the school that was targeted for the investigation. Because if they were it would be confirmed immediately by the NCAA followed by an authorized leak containing all of the details that would be front page news in every newsroom in the world.. even in North Korea.
December 30th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
I would not be surprised if Kim Jong Un was following through his good friend Dennis Rodman.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:04 PM ^
Shocked, shocked I say
December 30th, 2023 at 1:05 PM ^
Using the last few months as a guide, it looks like there is enough to DROP THE HAMMER. Maybe THE DEATH PENALTY. Where is the Big Ten and Pee-titty?
December 30th, 2023 at 1:08 PM ^
Whatever... ESPN had the chance on Gameday to say something about this, but they did not. They chose just to say that Alabama stopped watching film on their iPads. In a throw-away sentence at the end of the piece, Herbstreit also said Michigan threw away their iPads.
That's all there was to it. Don't expect any of this to get much traction nationally.
December 30th, 2023 at 2:08 PM ^
To be fair, there really isn’t much to this story for them to go on outside of Michigan and Bama saying they stopped using the cloud and someone confirming that there is an investigation. There aren’t any real details right now, what do you want them to say?
Once there’s some clarity on which university(s) are being investigated and the full scope of the investigation, I’d expect it becomes more of a national story. But so far there’s been nothing from the NCAA and Catapult has only confirmed that they’re investigating it internally and cooperating with external investigations. Not much for ESPN or anyone else to go on.
December 31st, 2023 at 5:23 AM ^
So NOW they are going to show mature journalistic restraint?
December 31st, 2023 at 9:33 AM ^
I don’t know that I’d say they weren’t showing any different restraint before. When there are details to report on, they report on the details. Their reporting may have seemed one sided with the sign stealing stuff, but how much of that is the fact that the NCAA controlled the narrative and what details were leaked while Michigan can’t comment on an ongoing investigation? So the details they had, were strongly against Michigan. Which allowed people like Thamel to really run with it.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
Waiting for all the analysis of
OSU with Catapult vs.
OSU without Catapult
You know, like how non-knowers of ball tried to analyze JJ without without accounting for level of competition or injury.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:15 PM ^
With cheating: Lost to Michigan.
Without cheating: Lost to Michigan.
Made no difference. They're off the hook!
December 30th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
This would only rate as the 2nd biggest scandal to rock CFB.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
Why hasn’t Day been suspended yet? Why isn’t Pettiti all over osu?
December 30th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
I'm disappointed that a private firm wasn't hired weeks ago to look into this. That's the only way to effectively get anything done...
December 30th, 2023 at 5:33 PM ^
They would have hired Day's brother...
December 30th, 2023 at 1:16 PM ^
I hate it when bad things happen to good people
December 30th, 2023 at 1:19 PM ^
IF this is true, this is still not nearly as embarrassing or egregious for OSU as:
1) last night’s nationally televised Cotton Bowl debacle
2) their quarterback room
3) their offensive line
4) their special teams
5) Ryan Day’s pre-game spasmodic convulsions with a whistle in his mouth
6) Ryan Day’s calling out of 118-year old Lou Holtz
7) Ryan Day in general
I could go on but I’m laughing too hard right now - lolololol
EDIT - LOLOLOLOL
December 30th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
8) Ryan Day's excessive use of Grecian Formula 16 on his beard.
December 30th, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
That is straight up Rustoleum
