Came to play in the second half, as expected.
November 11th, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
Is there something wrong with Jenkins? It seemed like he did not play his normal amount of snaps.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:08 PM ^
watching Grant track down that Penn State RB from behind was mind blowing in person. The Penn State fans all around me were asking who that was
November 11th, 2023 at 9:27 PM ^
This to me might be the iconic defensive play of the year (pending Ohio results). On par with:
2021 - Hutchinson putting a 5* first-rounder on his butt
2022 - Mike's PBU
November 12th, 2023 at 8:20 AM ^
I think that was the play of the game. That was a touchdown and he made sure it wasn’t. Pure will power to make that happen. He’d be my jolly good fellow for sure. The rest of the game is much tighter and harder for everyone if he doesn’t make that happen.
Brian knows who to give the points to this week.
November 12th, 2023 at 11:03 AM ^
Johnson would have tracked him down as well (though Will is not a great tackler and Allen is hard to bring down) and PSU did score on that drive, unfortunately. So not quite true, but still a remarkable athletic play.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:05 PM ^
How does 340 move that fast?
November 12th, 2023 at 4:47 AM ^
Sheer will power. As a fellow big man. Sometimes you know you have to make your body move ...and damn the consequences after you accomplish your goal

THIRD QUARTER-CONSTRICTOR STRIKES AGAIN
November 11th, 2023 at 4:13 PM ^
At the same time, we ended PSU streak of 0 3rd quarter points.
November 12th, 2023 at 8:21 AM ^
As stupid as it sounds, this was one of my most nervous points in the game. I didn’t want the D to give up the goose egg in the third. Keep that going all year.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
Amazing how much the "statuesque" Allar was able to get away from pressure. I bet a ton of uncalled holds show up in UFR.
Also Penn State's last TD was bullshit. Penalizing Barrett for celebrating an INT the Refs themselves called is insane.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
It's stupid that something like that doesn't get negated when the reason he did it gers overturned.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:37 PM ^
my son and I passively saw at least 4
November 11th, 2023 at 5:54 PM ^
Allar looks like a newborn deer when he runs. Somehow he makes it work though.
November 12th, 2023 at 5:23 AM ^
I had wanted Fashanu as a Bear in the draft, but he was holding all day long and Braxton Jones is developing. We got held all day. Even on the fumble recovery, look at how he has the defender—Mason, I think—in a Full Nelson.
Full disclosure: we also benefitted from some holds, so the refs really kept the flags to a minimum, to my surprise, once the game got into second quarter.
November 12th, 2023 at 8:24 AM ^
I wonder how much holding OSU gets away with. I thought it was weird when they picked up the running into the locker flag and didn’t go to replay right away. It looked obvious and should have been shown on replay. Luckily Michigan played well enough that it didn’t matter. Just don’t want the BIG to have any more shenanigans
November 11th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
Fuck yea Go Blue!!
November 11th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
Just need them to calm their cools (if not, the game would have been over even sooner)... Outside of that.. LIGHTS OUT!
November 11th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
Defense was good, in spite of the holding everywhere. Couple things to work on, still. they were gashing us in the run game, falling forward after contact, and we didn't put a spy on their qb, so he got a bunch of 1st downs with his feet. No complaints, though. All in all they carried the day.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:28 PM ^
That goal line play scared me. Sent too many to the boundary. Allar could have run it in. We need to copy this play with JJ or Orji.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
Assume you are talking about the 2 pt attempt? It looked like a play a middle schooler would draw up. PSU expected to have a 1:1 grouping on the side lines. M pulled DB’s away from that trickery and out numbered the PSU offense. Nowhere to run or pass.
November 12th, 2023 at 11:05 AM ^
They expected us to not realize the center was an eligible receiver. But Barrett spent like 5 seconds yelling to his teammate that 44 was eligible on the play. Then the play was dead.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
It turned out a QB spy would have been a good idea. However, I bet coming into the game Allar wasn’t viewed as a run threat.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:29 PM ^
Allar running was their only consistent option, and M could have done a better job expecting that and adjusting to it. But that was the only issue in an otherwise strong performance.
November 11th, 2023 at 7:04 PM ^
- gashing - didn’t happen
- falling forward - they’re on scholarship too and gravity is a thing
- no spy - that’s why they didn’t have explosives and couldn’t throw the ball
oh and those are at least three nonsense complaints for “no complaints”
November 11th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
Minter with another gem.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
When PSU had a fourth down in the red zone and called a time out, I texted my buddy: “Franklin called the time out to bring in the punter.”
November 11th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
Drew Allar is a terrible QB, and yet it feels like we had a close game against a team that can't throw the ball. I'm not sure what that means, hopefully nothing and I'm overreacting.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:26 PM ^
I don't think he's terrible. Slippery as fuck. He's 19. We recruited him hard... First offense to score 2 TDS on us. So how can you say he's terrible?
November 11th, 2023 at 3:49 PM ^
He had a single on target throw all day, one. How can you say he's good-because he's a five star? He did zero besides a run or two. He threw for 3.2 yards average!
November 11th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
May be our D is just that good?
November 11th, 2023 at 4:34 PM ^
looking at his stats previously no. 5-20 in completions over 20 yards. Maybe our defense is very good. But he is a bad QB
November 11th, 2023 at 9:33 PM ^
I’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks have their “breakout game” against Michigan in the last 20 years. I’m glad our successful game plan mitigated that possibility today. Allar has the potential to do that, it will come someday…
November 11th, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
Aside 2 passes he threw behind his WR every play. Think he had 8-10 attempts. He is objectively horrible. The best thing he did today was scramble.
Trevor Lawrence at his age was leading Clemson to a National Title.
November 11th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Trevor Lawrence...that's the threshold for good QB play at his age? Damn...
November 11th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
He may not be terrible but he sure looked like a deer in the headlights in the fourth quarter.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
Allar is the second coming of Christian Hackenberg, minus the sacks.
November 11th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
excellent reference
November 11th, 2023 at 5:31 PM ^
Hackenburg looked unstoppable his freshman year. And then the sacks started piling up.
November 11th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
Come on, this is the kid's first year as a starter and it's not like he has a running game or 5-stars at skill positions to fall back on. He'll be pretty good in a few years.
November 11th, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
I'm not saying he's permanently awful, but he's terrible right now
November 11th, 2023 at 9:07 PM ^
Well, actually, preseason-and even today the claim is that their RB tandem is one of the best in the country. And, their OL includes an All-American tackle and they were touted as perhaps the best OL ever at PSU.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:23 PM ^
Superb second half, the Boa Constrictor rises again. Kudos to Jesse Minter and all of the players that stopped PSU for nearly all 60 minutes.
They made Allar look like a 19 year old. It was a great shwoing.
November 11th, 2023 at 5:46 PM ^
Um, because he is 19? :)
November 11th, 2023 at 3:23 PM ^
TY Minter.
Kenneth Grant one of the best first halves I've ever seen. Running down the RB may have changed the complexion of the entire game.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:29 PM ^
Agreed. I was thinking the same thing...had Grant not chased him down that could have given them momentum.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
I think the RB scores if Grant doesnt grab him, he had no one ahead of him. Guy is 320-330? - just shocking athleticism for a man that size.
November 11th, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
I was leaping around the room when Grant made that tackle!
