U-M Hockey vs PSU NCAAT - Sunday Open Thread
In calendar 2023 PSU just won their 5th game (5-10-1). May it be the last of this season.
Let's get started on time, make simple plays, go to the net hard, and skate, skate, skate. And stay out of the damn box.
Time: 6:30 PM ET
Watch: ESPN2, TSN+
Listen: Varsity Network audio
Let's Go Blue! Beat PSU! And no majors/GMs/DQs for us, plz!
My apologies - once I muted the TV (midway through the 3rd) we were in business.
FROZEN FOUR !!!!!
MUPPETS!!!
cardiologists all over michigan just came off of high-alert thanks to that OT goal.
go blue, happy for our guys.
Mr Brightside giving me goosebumps from my couch
Me too! I cranked it way up.
Goosebumps.....let's say that's all it gave me. Spring clearly here in CA today. Allergies acting way up.
We can also celebrate that OSU did not make it to Tampa!
All is well. OSU loses, Michigan wins. Bliss... and booze.
Unbelievable. I was worried as hell. Heart cant take this shit. Feel like ive been running.
Samoskevich 1G, 1A
Adam Fantilli 1G
1A ea: McGroarty, Duke, Casey
This game will be great prep for QPac.
Like I told you guys between periods!!!!!!!!
Props to you Rob!
Gonna be a really run frozen four. So glad our boys pulled it out!
Awww. But they told us that they. Were. Penn shtate.
I hope this was our shitty game.
Quinnipiac probably cursing the gods right now
Nothing in the world compares to that!
This team is meaningfully better than they were on January 1. Still a few defensive whiffs, but much much better on the blue line and Portillo very solid. Guys kept rolling, stayed poised when PSU tried to goad some penalties, and just went rinse and repeat until they got the W. Feel like this team has matured a half season over their last four games.
And we're winnin' here in Allentown
'Cuz we had to put the Nit'ny Lions down
And Mackie put the game away-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay-ayyyyyyyyyyyy
Yay!
I rewatched every replay several times. The shot was such a rocket that only on the overhead shot could i see it go in. Amazing shot. It'll be a legend.
I was sick at the idea the refs might disallow the goal on appeal. Couldn’t watch. Thankfully, there is mgoblog to update promptly.
Me too because we just had a goal disallowed for Too Many Men a couple of weeks ago so I'm glad the decision was fast & decisive
Hockey is the one sport I can’t watch if my team is playing in high leverage. Used to tape the Wings and watch when it was safe. Turned this off and was hoping to come back and read what I read - then I could go back and watch the end. Yeesh.
When I watched the wings I’d always go to another room during a PK
Need a good crowd in Florida. A lot of Michigan people in Florida. Fill it up blue!
I'll be there. Look for me on the glass.
We will be there!
Go Blue!
Totally agree. Midwesterners predominate all up and down the Gulf Coast; I expect Michigan fans to be the most present, followed by Minny.
Not just midwesterners - I'm born and raised in California.
Postseason OT hockey is wonderful.......until your team is involved. Then it's pure hell.
Adrian and Hobart College are tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, headed to OT. NCAA Division III National Championship is on the line.
I am not stressing out over the NCAA Division III National Championship. At least not tonight. I didn't even know it was on.
Still haven't managed to relax. This Minnesota Toronto Premier Hockey game is making me nervous....and I don't have a clue what the hell this is.
So happy to be wrong about this game! Hell yeah! The better team ACTUALLY won it after all.
M has paid their dues tenfold with OT/close tourney losses. Its about cot dang time.
Oh, and fuck psu and their trash hockey, trash program, and trash fans.
For the first time in many years we're not having a second Seder. this year. So we'll be able to watch the game undistracted. (In case anyone's interested, we're going out for first Seder and waiting for the weekend for our in-home Seder so people can come in from out-of-town.) If we we were having a second Seder, it might make for a special Dayenu.
For those of you who have not been to a Seder, Dayenu means "It would have been enough," a blessing we say for all the things G-d did for us even before delivering us to the Promised Land. In this case, I don't think just getting to the Frozen Four is enough.
When we were in the final four, the seder was at our house. I got the first part done before the game started and we ate during the first half and finished the seder during halftime. This year my wife accepted an invitation to go to a friend's house and I don't know what I'm going to do.
If we make it to the finals, I will be in Columbus Ohio of all places.
I wear a Fitbit which measures when you are undergoing intense exercise, according to it I was just running for two hours, -from my chair in front of the TV.
Everyone is thinking the game almost gave them a heart attack, and you have proof that it was actually good for your health!
Hopefully we can blitz the Pollsters like we did last year (but not almost choke at the end).
And go BU. Obviously we can beat Minnesota, but we scored 9 on BU before we knew what we were doing really.

Had to have open heart surgery back in January. Seems to be holding up ok after this cardiac special.
