Dante Moore visiting Texas A&M in June
Not great news. He is going to visit Texas A&M unofficially which means that they can still take an official visit during the season.
I think we all know what is going to happen when he gets to College Station. He is about to get a "strong-a$$ offer".
I am not saying that Dante will simply pick the highest bidder - he may well be the type of kids that looks at the bigger picture / 40 year plan. HOWEVER, imagine being a 16-17 year old kid getting and getting a 7 figure offer, that would be very tough for ANYONE to turn down.
@ Mods - please delete the "Diary Post". That was posted in error.
Given its last recruiting class, it would not be absurd for someone who wants to win a championship to consider throwing his lot in with TAMU, with or without a huge NIL deal. I have no idea what the kid will do, but I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion it was all about money if he signed with them.
Good point, A&M beat Bama last year. They could easily compete for a NC.
Yet it was Michigan in the CFP…
Remains to be seen. Bad teams have beaten Bama in one-offs before and last year's Bama team was unimpressive by their standards. Even with beating Bama, they finished 5th in the West. Not to mention they have one double-digit win season since 1998. ONE.
They have gobs of talent, but it remains to be seen what they can do with it
Moore has been interested in/visiting the big time NIL players for a while. Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon, and now TAMU are all a part of his recruitment so we are definitely behind in that regard
He is 10000% about the money.
Not blaming him, but he's chasing the dollars.
He gone.
Way to crap on a Michigan high school kid who you don't really know, 'Whatchoo'!
#BeClassierThanThat
You understand nothing in this regard. Watch any interview with this 16 year old kid-Dante's maturity dwarfs that of most interviewers-certainly this applies to fans like you as well.
Just quit it.
Just saw your diary delete request, will delete.
thanks!
Let's all take a deep breath and stop paying so much attention to the decision process of teenagers. The guys who play for Michigan will arrive when they enroll; we'll cheer for and get to know whoever shows up, and we'll all have a good time.
To tag on to this: I wish everyone here had the good fortune and pleasure of recruiting these players. As with Dante, the significant majority of them are very bright and incredibly well-informed of their talent and their options. This is a process and they are simply practicing due diligence in their own best interest. These kids are a warm ray of sunshine in a sometimes dismal world in which we live-let them do their job.
Can’t blame the kid. Why the hell not check it out. I’d never attend a pseudo military academy, but to each his own.
Now that that genie is out of the bottle---College ball players should go to the school guaranteeing the most money. Period. It is now a business and if your good it doesnt matter where you play you will eventually make the NFL someday. Heck in the next few years it may become the highest paid college players will make more than your highest paid NFL players. NFL is small time as compared to major college football---if the gloves are taken off College Ball will run right passed the NFL
Can't be mad at Texas A&M for being completely competent and maximizing their resources to attract recruits nationally. Can't be mad at the kid for taking a look at an institution that is completely competent and maximizes their resources.
I could be wrong but the kid will go somewhere other than Michigan. Having JJ here is stiff competition. Carr is on the horizon for 2024
Except people are saying we are doing worse with Carr than Moore.
Until this school opens up the MIL Money Cannon - Elite Players from Michigan will go elsewhere for Elite Dollars.
What's the deal with Carr? I sort of just assumed he'd end up at Michigan given his grandpa and where he grew up.
From a competition side, JJ will only have one year of eligibility left when Dante steps on campus. I believe any hesitancy here is related to a perception that there is a lack of meritocracy being practiced relative to playing opportunity.
How much will they offer? 5, 7 or $10M
Yeah he could always look to Shea's career...
I’m waiting for the day when a kid earns more than his coach.
How do you NOT take the $$$?!? We’d all choose 7 figures in College Station over 50k at UM.
Michigan doesn't put QB's in the pros. Michigan wants to run the ball and feature the RB as the focal point of the offense. Michigan doesn't buy recruits.
I am surprised he is even still visiting.
He really doesn't fit Michigan's offense anyways, coping somewhat, but also kinda true. Neither does Carr, really.
My hope is Michigan recruits athletes at QB and runs smash mouth power read option.
It's more or less Meyer's old offense and unironically the perfect counter to what OSU is doing under Day.
What makes Texas A&M not the better overall offer regardless of money? Lot of assumptions get made based on narratives. He’s going to get offered money by Michigan and he’s going to pick the school that does the best job recruiting him. Stop infantalizing kids as being incapable of making the decisions that are best for them long term because you might not like the conclusion they come to.
Whore.
I don’t see him coming to Michigan. Just a hunch and nothing more. I think he picks a place that surprises everyone.
This may well be true but the stronger indications are that he would like to play in Ann Arbor. It appears as though he is needing to both convince himself and be assured that this is a good place for him. And if this is not so, why would he be doing what he is doing???
Dan Patrick was saying on his show that a 5* qb in 2023 class is calling for $8 million.
it's getting out of hand.
I don't know if he is accurate, but it's heading in to that direction.
With the crazy wild west that is NIL I can't wait for some 5* to get a crazy offer and then be a bust. Happens every year. I wonder if that will change the needle?
Nico Iamaleava is getting $8M from Tennessee. That is the current market for top 5* QBs
5* athletes are going to be the next child tv stars.
That kind of money that young is going to destroy the lives of some of these kids.
to hell with notre dame
If Dante Moore is all about NIL what what happened with LSU, Oregon and Miami?
All three are major NIL players, with Oregon being one of the biggest, and all three apparently thought they had little shot of landing Moore as they all quickly offered other QBs afterward.
P.S. People keep thinking of NIL as upfront 'sign with me money'. You can be all about NIL and have a longer term view for your brand (which school give me the best platform to establish the widest brand).
Would you rather get 50K from a Miami Hospital or 25K for a podcast on under the Fox Sports banner?
