Yes, now he has done it TWICE.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
No, this was the first. He’s 1-12
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:58 PM ^
Pretty sure they were an underdog when top 10 Notre Dame came to town and got beat down in 2019.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
Unfortunately not. The line changed *just before* kickoff, to Michigan being favored by 1 point.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:35 AM ^
There is no single "line" - there are numerous sports books offering them. Some still had ND as being favored at kickoff that year.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
you would think that but it's not true, the line moved when it became clear there was rain in the forecast and we entered the game as a 1 point favorite
October 3rd, 2021 at 5:32 AM ^
Nope. ND +1 was the line at kickoff.
October 3rd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Okay... just for the sake of discussion, JH is 2 - 11 and not 1-12.
Is 2-11 something to puff one's chest out about?
For an $8MM coach?
October 3rd, 2021 at 4:20 PM ^
1) he doesn’t make $8mm per year unless he wins the conference/makes the playoff and since smart guys like you keep crying about how terrible he is, that seems pretty unlikely to happen. Your entire premise is either outright bullshit or just straight up ignorance.
2) can you point to any teams/coaches who have great records on the road as underdogs? Didn’t think so
3) still dying to know when ‘the reckoning’ is coming.
October 3rd, 2021 at 11:57 PM ^
Your entire premise is either outright bullshit or just straight up ignorance.
LOL
You're projecting now troll.
October 4th, 2021 at 9:16 AM ^
Can’t even meaningfully respond at this point, can you? Were you flat out lying about the $8m, or are you dumb enough to not actually know? From your posting history, one is just as likely as the other. All you have are petty insults and more bullshit.
And seriously, when’s THE RECKONING?
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:43 PM ^
Sorry to threadjack but I am curious… when was the last time we won as a road underdog? I can’t even recall one since Lloyd days.
Edit: 2010 ND must have been one.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
I don’t think he’s won in Lincoln. (I also don’t think he’s coached there.)
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Probably his record vs. OSU, but glad to see this one bite the dust
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
That’s a legit gripe. Much more than whether a win comes as a 1 point favorite or 1 point underdog.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:54 PM ^
Great win today, obviously! Very happy with the team and Jim's coaching. But that doesn't mean prior criticism of his results suddenly becomes moot. It did take until year seven to win a road game as an underdog. Let's not spike the football on his critics quite yet. Will be much more satisfying to do so after a OSU win and Big 10 title!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
"Michigan has never beaten a ranked opponent on the road that is favored by more than 1 possession... on a rainy Saturday in November with the wind blowing less than 10 MPH... while the Pope was having his afternoon tea."
Just a guess.

I'd love to see this years team play in the rain. Or snow for that matter.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
But but but but but.... Wisconsin shouldn't have been favored! So it doesn't count! /s
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
It is pretty amazing that a 1-2 team was favored against a top 15 team. That’s gotta be an Aflac Trivia at some point.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:45 PM ^
Don’t worry this narrative is alreasy being pushed by the haters….
”good job beating Wisconsin in a down year”
”Wisconsin was overrated”
”Wisconsin should t have been favored”
“I’m not going to support them until they beat an actual good team”
“they’ve played 9 halves of good to great football but that one bad half against Rutgers outweighs all other evidence this year”
”they beat Wisconsin but I think they need to beat everyone else on the schedule and win the National championship before I will accept it and then if the lose one game next year, I will lead the pitchfork and torches crowd”
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:54 PM ^
If I can score tickets to The Game we're beating OSU in November. They have never beat us with me in the stadium
Guess I should try to make it more often.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:22 PM ^
Let’s start a Go Fund Me for this man!
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:23 AM ^
What the fuck man you're telling me Michigan is undefeated when you're at The Game? Where the fuck have you been all this time?? Get your ass to that stadium this year and every year henceforth!
October 3rd, 2021 at 11:04 AM ^
So the past 20 years are your fault?! Dick!
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
Goodbye and good riddance to that useless stat! Here's to breaking more norms and streaks this year!
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
According to RCMB this win does not count since Whisky is a ‘bad team’. But for some reason their shit win against Miami counts.
October 2nd, 2021 at 7:13 PM ^
It's almost like it's not worth knowing what rcmb thinks ?
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:05 PM ^
Beat OSU?
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:12 PM ^
How is this a BS worthless factoid?
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
How is it not?
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:57 PM ^
So Harbaugh not being able to win big games is irrelevant?
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:46 PM ^
“Big games.” Lol
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
I doubt you are asking in good faith, but as an example …
The morning of the 2019 ND game, ND was favored -1. By the time of kickoff, Michigan was favored -1. Michigan wound up winning the game by 31.
Was the blowout win any less meaningful because Vegas changed the line by two points a few hours before kickoff? People who tout that stat would have to insist that it was, and that is beyond stupid.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
I’m sure there will be a single sports book somewhere that had Michigan favored by half a fucking point so this won’t count. <rolls eyes and sighs>
There is an entire group in this community criticizing a guy who has taken an NFL team to the super bowl (and apparently they are all smarter than the love child of Knute Rock e and. Once Lombardi). They will NEVER be convinced that Harbaugh knows jack shit about football. I can’t wait for that crew to spin this behind the woodshed beat down.
Go Blue!
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
This team and Harbaugh deserve credit for this win. I am no longer a fan of Harbaugh as HC and thought the program should have moved on from him. I will say that he surprised me today. I knew Michigan’s only chance of winning would be to air it out more than they have. I just didn’t expect them to do it. There were some issues but they did it enough to make the offense effective and the defense played great outside of the last 2 drives in the first half. I have to give credit when credit is due. Go Blue!
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
Yes, but they still haven't won a road game as an underdog while wearing white or maize pants so let's not get too excited here.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:54 PM ^
Harbaugh doesn’t get enough credit for having figured that out and fixing the problem.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
His record is what he is or has been. Its Harbaugh who has caused this little stats you hate so much. Yes, Michigan is no longer the only FBS team to have not won as an underdog since 2015. But Harbaugh is still 1-12 as an underdog. How do you change that? Keep winning.
I'd also like to see him lay to rest his record against MSU, PSU and OSU. Not to mention no Big Ten Championship games, no Big Ten championships and no playoff appearances. Here's to hoping he crushes all those tropes, which HE created. If you want to irritated at someone about it be irritated at Harbaugh. I sure hope he has finally turned that corner much as Dabo Swinney did.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
You can’t really change that by winning and playing well, because then you’ll be favored. That’s the reason why this stat is so stupid.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
Plenty of winning teams still have a few games per year where they are underdogs. It could be conference championship game, NYD bowl, or the playoffs. Since 2015 they have all managed to win at least one of them. Glad Michigan has too (now) but I think the gist of the post above is that none of us will be happy if Harbaugh only wins one game as an underdog. I can think of at least 2 more games on this schedule that if played today, Michigan is an underdog. I want Michigan to win those games.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
Beautiful little coaching snowflake you got there. If only there were a place to put it.
But the idea that he couldn't win as a dog was a stupid theme to advance about a coach who is famous for one of the greatest upsets in CFB history. Everyone knows that Harbaugh can win as a dog. Just ask Pete Carroll.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
Going for it on 4th down twice on the first drive?? Going for 2 in the 4th quarter up 3 scores?? Calling a go route with 5 mins left in the 4th quarter in a blowout??
Harbaugh is back and I’m here for it
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:53 PM ^
Turning it over on the first drive with a predictable place call ? Turtling before half time and allowing your opponent to score in 30 seconds ?
I'd agree, he's back.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:03 PM ^
I was feeling bad about my considerable pessimism towards Harbaugh. But you are next level negative. It really takes some anti-Harbaugh glasses to see things like that.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:28 PM ^
Next level? Bro, he basically tried to give the game away in thirty seconds. He is an awful coach.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:35 PM ^
Lol at boasting of a new 1-12 record by beating an unranked 1-2 team that had no QB. I think the fact that UM was an underdog is more indicative of how Harbaugh is viewed nationally.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:16 PM ^
We'll let izzy enema know if the Wolverines win some more.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:32 PM ^
You’re getting downvotes for making too much sense.
