Other Sweet 16 games thread
There are other games??
Who’s the better matchup for Michigan?
The L.A. Lakers.
Season wise you would say Bama but watching this game so far Bama seems all one on one and jacking up threes and UCLA seems to be running an actual offense. Overall I’d say root for UCLA but Michigan has done pretty well against these athletically dependent teams.
Yeah I know Oats seems to be coaching defense at Bama, but I followed him at UB and he always seemed a little 'roll out the ball' coach to me there too. Those UB teams played a little out of control. We've shown we can handle that
Wow, UCLA is surging.
UCLA is still playing well.
I can see a weakness to exploit on Bama, they jump passing lanes a lot so the back doors and screens will be there
I’ve always liked the Song Girls. Oh, that’s USC.
UCLA got damn.
This UCLA team looks completely different than the one I witnessed against MSU
Am I the only one who would prefer to play Alabama than UCLA?
Bama looks very disorganized and relying solely on iso so I may be with you on that. We have the defense to stop them.
I haven't been watching to this point but isn't UCLA all iso as well? Just saw the halftime highlights and it just looks like UCLA's shot-making was ridiculous.
A fair amount but at least they’ve done some back cuts and such.
Ucla's shot making could be a problem for us
UCLA appears to be no joke. Maybe once you make it so far people can stop saying things like “well they’re just an 11 seed” etc.
I've said elsewhere that single-elimination tournament games and fun and stupid and this tournament is a prime example. There's a non-zero chance that a quarter of the Elite 8 will be teams who barely made the tournament.
How has UCLA been playing so well? They were toast in the play in game before they finally decided to play against Sparty (not that I didn’t appreciate that outcome).
Has a play in team ever made it this far?
VCU in 2011 is the only one to make the Elite 8
I think I’m rooting for Bama. UCLA looks to be on a mission.
Was just checking out the box score for our game and then glanced at the UCLA-Bama score...wut?
Bama’s top player got 2 fouls in the first 46 seconds. He played 6 minutes total. I sense a Bama run coming, but I’m rooting for the Bruins.
There’s a reason UCLA is 11. Would still rather face UCLA.
Not saying either team won’t be tough. At this point all teams are hot but UCLA did lose 9 games this year.
Seriously--Michigan has dominated better teams than this, so I'm not sure why everybody's got their hand on the chicken switch right now.
Oregon State was a 12. USC is playing Oregon next. It’s clear the selection committee ignored the PAC-12 this year.
Any team playing in the Sweet Sixteen is capable of beating just about anyone on a given night. Having said that, on average an 11 seed will eventually play like one again. That’s why true Cinderella’s are so rare.
Give me the team that barely made the tournament all day, every day. I will take my chances against UCLA vs a team like Bama who has shown elite ability all year.
At the end of the day, I want to play the 11 seed vs the 2- yeah, that sounds easy, but I don't know how you can root for Bama. They are infinitely more talented than UCLA.
Bama seems to be relying on Quinerly a tad too much.
Kenny Smith just analyzed both Bama and UCLA and basically cursed them for the iso basketball tendencies.
really interesting game with Bama/UCLA right now...
Quinerly is quick, but UCLA is really playing well... not sure who'd I would rather play to be honest as there are pluses and minuses for both teams
I would lean to UCLA though, for reasons mentioned above...ride is going to end for UCLA at some point
33-14 run by UCLA to end the 1st half.
The Tide don't know what hit them, and really, neither do I (even though I did pick this upset in XM's thread a few days ago).
At first I thought Alabama was going to blow UCLA out, now it looks like these SEC teams have trouble with offenses that pass the ball around for open shots. We may actually match up better against Alabama.
I know neither one of these teams have shit inside against Dickinson. I’m not really worried about either one as I’m watching this.
When Riley gets in foul trouble, UCLA will bring in that high school kid and Hunter will feast. He could score 30 against UCLA.
You should hope UCLA pulls the upset against a superior team that is playing a very poor game. UCLA beat BYU and Abilene Fergodsakes. The rooting interest to go to the Final 4 should be a no brainer.
Agreed. Don't get why people would rather play Alabama here.
If they are playing a poor game against this defense then they would definitely have trouble with ours.
J23, you are one of the best at Basketball analysis here, but one game does not translate to the next.
Oh I know, I just think we have a really good defense and could stop them enough to win the game. I haven’t watched Bama enough to really say one way or the other as far as their overall abilities.
UCLA dying by the three right now
Michigan’s offense would probably be better suited against UCLA than Bama. Bama also stretches the floor completely making Dickinson have a precarious defensive assignment.
Do other coaches even care about offensive flow and shot selection? This constant iso garbage and contested long jump shots is killing me.
Both ucla and bama seem to be playing a lot of iso, which aim now qualified to identify having watched our game against FSU.
Welp looks like Alabama will take control soon enough..
They just got to pretend they’re facing MSU
There may be 3 pac 12 teams in the elite 8, I’d say they certainly weren’t seeded correctly.
I think the only chance for UCLA was to keep it close, I just think giving up the 11 point lead will sink UCLA.
