Here's the take of one person on the CBS Sports site on the NFL head coach openings:
Notice some names appear more than once and that some names do not appear.

And none were named Harbaugh. Oh my.

Just like the Scooby Doo meme above, I scrolled down to find “Harbaugh” in the comments.
Thanks for the help!

So, we missed our window on JH moving to the NFL???
January 6th, 2021 at 8:26 AM ^
There is alarmingly little interest in Harbaugh from the NFL being reported. If the NFL really won’t welcome him back, there is still a path to Campbell for 2021.
Step 1: Fire Harbaugh
Step 2: Hire Campbell

Wow! That's easy! Why hadn't I thought of that before?
January 6th, 2021 at 10:06 AM ^
How can Warde actually feel confident in JH to do his job the next 3 years if he's shopping around before the extension? Pull the offer, and go your separate ways. He has had plenty of time to figure this out by now.
January 6th, 2021 at 11:20 AM ^
Because he looked at all the options and decided that it was not worth taking a $10 million gamble? Seems reasonable.

Step 3: Profit?

Are we really sold on Campbell? He's doing ok but he also lucked into an NFL QB (potential 1st round QB) from the #839th ranked recruit. Campbell can get some credit for finding/coaching him but that's still a lot of luck. Last year he was 7-5. He had a pretty good year in a pandemic and suddenly he's our savior? I felt much better about the RR and Harbaugh hires than Campbell. His recruiting is about average for the school at both Toledo and Iowa St. His time in Toledo was about the same as his predecessor and worse than his successor. I don't know what's right but acting like this guy is an easy choice seems naive. I am definitely not arguing for Harbaugh, I just don't get excited about Campbell.

People value potential more than anything else. I don't get the Harbaugh hate tbh. These same people arguing for Campbell were arguing for PJ Fleck.
I am annoyed that this isn't resolved yet though. Personally, if Harbaugh wants to move on to the NFL then let him. If not, then let's make the deal and move on.

His 2-3 and 2-4 record against Texas and Oklahoma respectively at IOWA fucking STATE looks a lot better than 3-3 against MSU, 2-3 against Wisconsin, and 0-5 against OSU at MICHIGAN (fer godsakes)

Harbaugh is holding this program hostage and should be fired for it.

Not that it means anything, but former NY Jet Keyshawn Johnson was advocating they hire either Harbaugh or Caldwell.
He believes a team like the Jets would be much better off hiring a retread as opposed to one of these up and coming coordinators.
Again, doesnt mean much, but I am wondering if one of these teams feels the same way and will give Harbaugh a shot. It doesnt look like it, but you never know.
January 6th, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
I think Harbaugh would be an excellent choice for the Jets*!
*or any team that isn’t Michigan.
January 6th, 2021 at 8:48 AM ^
Harbaugh to the Jets would actually make sense. Even though the Giants have not been the good, the Jets are decidedly second fiddle in New York. At a minimum, Harbaugh would make the Jets “interesting“ and would keep them relevant initially. If nothing else, the Jets like drama.
January 6th, 2021 at 10:17 AM ^
So, the Jets are the Mets? :)
January 6th, 2021 at 10:30 AM ^
And the Mets are the nets
January 6th, 2021 at 11:21 AM ^
Nobody from Jets (both management and fans) listens to Keyshawn. Loved him as a player but he has said some bat sh!t crazy stuff since.

This means nothing. All the names on the list (other than Urban) are NFL coaches. In the NFL one team has to request another team's coach, so the interviews are easily leaked and general knowledge. There's no such requirement to interview college coaches, so there's inherently going to be fewer stories and leaks.
January 6th, 2021 at 8:59 AM ^
Yep. Doesn't mean there is great interest, but we would never know that there is unless NFL teams and the college coach being interviewed wanted it to be known. With college coaches, they would appreciate discretion more as they want to appear as committed as possible due to recruiting.
January 6th, 2021 at 9:01 AM ^
Right. This is the equivalent of a mock draft. Beyond the first two or three picks, it's really anyone's guess. Teams make decisions based on info that none of us are privy to.
January 6th, 2021 at 10:04 AM ^
FWIW, my college roommate is an agent, I know Harbaugh doesn't really have an agent, but he told me that Harbaugh's name is not really involved with any of the openings, believe it or not.
January 6th, 2021 at 10:31 AM ^
Who is your roommate an agent for? Unless he's this guy I don't trust him.
January 6th, 2021 at 11:33 AM ^
That's been my expectation given JH has failed miserably at UM and is a bit of a PR nightmare given bumbling, stumbling public appearances.
Seriously, what pro owner would give JH tens of millions of dollars and entrust their franchise to him?
January 6th, 2021 at 12:03 PM ^
Stephen Ross?
January 6th, 2021 at 10:05 AM ^
Rex Ryan is still available
January 6th, 2021 at 10:33 AM ^
I don't get the John U tweets. A few weeks ago he fluffs up Harbaugh saying that 4-5 teams are definitely interested, and then this week he is 80% confident he'll be back.
January 6th, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
This list feels...generic. Like, they had a list of 6 candidates and then just sort of slotted them into a couple of existing teams. I'm not saying there aren't kernels of truth here but I do honestly wonder if Marvin Lewis, for example, is only on Detroit's radar as a #3 option after they booted Jim Caldwell for being consistently okay, which is sort of Marvin Lewis's MO.
January 6th, 2021 at 1:01 PM ^
Derp, that's the real reason Harbaugh will be back for 5 years and Campbell will be long gone by then.
