Indiana Removes Big Ten Logo from Jerseys, Helmets Prior to Outback Bowl
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:13 AM ^
This doesn't mean anything
If Tom Allen and the Hoosiers wanted to make an actual difference they'd drive to the B1G offices and take a HUGE shit on Kevin Warren's desk.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:22 AM ^
Some people have a hard time pooping on command.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:25 AM ^
If that's true then I guess Tom Allen shouldn't be coaching at Indiana.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:14 AM ^
You seem to have developed a fascination with fecal matter, at least of late. I have not bothered to research your posting history. This is merely an observation. I hope this does not negatively reflect on the condition of your bowels. If it does, I am sure there are a great many posters with ideas of how to resolve your concerns.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:23 AM ^
They should do this after paying a visit to the Indiana state fair.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:55 PM ^
So perhaps the flaming poop in a bag trick would suffice.
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
I think covering up the logo is their way of taking a shit on him
January 2nd, 2021 at 3:15 PM ^
If you're going to pull a stunt like this, it's best to go out and win the game and not poop your pants in the process.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:14 AM ^
I hope he has coverage from the AD
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
Allen is near the top in terms of job security.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:46 AM ^
Him and Pat Fitzgerald
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:21 AM ^
Maybe they should've just beaten OSU when they had the chance
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:24 AM ^
Nah. Why not kick and scream while hoping the big ten would just hand it to you for winning 6 games in a down year?
January 2nd, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
I think their issue is the notion that the Big Ten would not even consider changing the rules if the roles were reversed. I can't say I wouldn't also be pissy, but I also don't exactly blame the Big Ten. Their goal is to, like, win stuff and get money for it. One of the reasons Larry Scott is so hated is because he isn't good at putting Pac 12 teams in good positions.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:27 AM ^
Nebraska starts the season suggesting it has issues being in the Big Ten. Indiana ends the season removing the Big Ten logo from its uniforms.
If this keeps up, the Big 10 may once again have only 10 schools.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:08 AM ^
Addition by subtraction?
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
I'd be ok with only 10 schools. I thought it was odd when Penn St. was added. That was a good addition though.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:30 AM ^
Penn State made sense. The additions after that did not. Instead of Nebraska I would have liked to see Notre Dame, and then Pitt when Notre Dame inevitably turned us down. Just skip on Rutgers and Maryland altogether.
Notre Dame/Pitt maintains the high academic standards of the conference, brings in a quality football/basketball program, maintains the footprint of the conference and gets us to the 12 that guaranteed a conference title game (before the NCAA changed the rules to allow the Big 12 to have one with 10 teams)
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:49 AM ^
Have always liked annexing Missouri, then keep Nebraska, annex Kentucky, drop MD & Rutgers and let them go the ACC. Good academics at Mizzou. Mizzou shares borders with IA, IL, NE & KY. KY shares borders with OH, IN, IL & MO.
KY would also be a good fit in BB, at least as good as MD.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:31 PM ^
The Penn State addition may have made sense but I read—somewhere? can't find it again—that it was orchestrated by a former Penn State administrator who'd moved on to a Big Ten school.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
Bring in Cincinnati! Need a true #2 in-state school in Ohio.
January 3rd, 2021 at 9:59 AM ^
OSU would not permit the Big Ten to allow another Ohio school
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:18 PM ^
Nobody is leaving the B1G. Some schools may bitch and complain when they get the short end of the stick on scheduling or bowl games or policies, but there is no conference that mints money the way the B1G does. Also, where would they go? No one can hack it as an independent anymore, not even Ohio State. The Big XII Conference that Nebraska left is a shell of its former self. No one wants Indiana. Penn State could theoretically bolt for the ACC, but again, why take such a drastic step only to face higher travel costs and a lower annual payout?
When it comes to beef with the B1G, everyone is all talk. No one wants to give up their fat checks.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:38 PM ^
The one school that really should leave the Big Ten is Nebraska.
Getting back in the Big 12 could improve their recruiting footprint a lot.
But maybe losing the Big Ten Network money probably makes it impossible.
Money considerations lock them into a conference that kneecaps their football recruiting.
January 2nd, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Nebraska left the Big12 because of Texas. They now realize in the Big10 there is OSU. Maybe they finally realize they are not the program they thought they were regardless of the conference they are in.
January 2nd, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
But wasn't Nebraska THAT program a while back? One of those 3-4 programs that dominated national football.
January 2nd, 2021 at 4:34 PM ^
So were we if you go back far enough . . .
January 2nd, 2021 at 4:25 PM ^
It's true that Nebraska (and Colorado, and Texas A&M, and Missouri, for that matter) left the Big XII because of Texas, but it had nothing to do with how they fared against Texas on the field. It had more to do with Texas constantly throwing its weight around to skew the conference's politics and finances in its favor. This was especially grating to the original members of the old Big 8 (with the exception of perennial bottom-dwellers and basketball schools like Iowa State and Kansas, who had no choice but to put up with it), but also to the other Texas schools who had MSU-like inferiority complexes vis-a-vis Texas dating back to the Southwest Conference days. The final straw for Nebraska and Colorado was the creation of the Longhorn Network, which basically destroyed any chances for the Big XII to have its own TV network like the B1G, ACC, Pac-12, and SEC.
Texas is like the Bruce Willis of college athletics programs. Major star power, major pain in the ass to work with.
January 2nd, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
I'd love having the Big Ten adding another Ohio school like Cincinnati to break Ohio State's firm lock as the only viable power 5 team in the 4th/5th richest football state. Drop Michigan State too so we don't have to compete with them for our paltry talent in here too. One can dream.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:27 AM ^
I’m laughing at IU. One good season in how long??? And they making demands? GTFOH. They don’t even have basketball anymore to puff their chests out
January 2nd, 2021 at 2:24 PM ^
Thank goodness IU took that B1G patch off it’s really paying off proving their point...buuurrrppp
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:28 AM ^
At least they’re not afraid to call out the big ten, something Michigan is never able to do after repeatedly getting screwed over and over and over and over by them..
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:36 AM ^
Yes. Michigan needs to step up and look out for themselves. I congratulate Indiana. Would like to see Michigan do the same.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:50 AM ^
I'd like to see Michigan handle their internal business first, like why they haven't been able to keep up with many other football programs with whom they shared parity in the not-so-distant past.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:52 AM ^
It is all the same problem.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:37 AM ^
Appropriately enough, these are all correct answers. Yes, we need to handle our business. Yes, we need to stick up for ourselves in the conference. Yes, it all stems (ultimately) from the same place.
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:47 PM ^
The University has an obligation to fans of its athletic programs, and sometimes that includes answers to things we'd like to know.
However, it has many other obligations as well, including memberships in a wide variety of organizations. That sometimes requires public opposition to an organization's policies. More often it requires being a good "citizen" of those many organizations, working privately with its various members. Not everything should be hashed out in public.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:51 AM ^
Seriously. We should've thought of this patch idea for the Orange Bowl vs FSU.
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:53 AM ^
With the way we perform in bowl games I’m sure the conference and other members wouldn’t mind if we scrubbed the conference logo from our jerseys and helmets.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:02 AM ^
Removing the logo, then denying it means something isn’t exactly calling out the conference. It’s more like passive-aggressive petulance.
And Harbaugh did let the conference know about it after the spot in the OSU game.
January 2nd, 2021 at 8:18 PM ^
On the one hand I can’t stand Tom Allen, but on the other you have to respect the way he loves and stands up for his team. That said, I don’t think taking the patch off was the best way to make his point. It really isn’t just a shot across the bow of the Big Ten as much as it is a sign of disrespect to all of the other schools in the BIG that have to abide by the league offices’ shenanigans and yet hide their displeasure and vent their concerns privately.
There have been many times in the past with more valid questions, such as the history of abysmal inconsistent officiating, than Indiana’s perceived sleight that have been handled with discretion. They should not have made a stink the one time that they were on the wrong end of a judgment call. This is why that while I wish Michigan made more of a public fuss sometimes, unless your play on the field really backs up your argument it usually comes off as petty and opens the complainers up to deserved ridicule.

Anybody else crave eating at hooters whenever they see the word hoosiers?
January 2nd, 2021 at 10:40 AM ^
From now on I probably will.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:22 AM ^
I don't think eating is the main reason people go to Hooters.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
Hooters is tamed compared to Twin Peaks
January 2nd, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
The Twin Peaks ladies have a better attitude, too. At Hooters, it’s less talk and more “here, eat this” while TP has more ‘frisky’ conversations.
January 2nd, 2021 at 11:39 AM ^
Pro Tip- If you have young children get your buddies and their young children and spend a Saturday with everyone at a big table at Hooters.
Every girl in the place wants to come visit. The kids get balloons, crayons, and attention. The men get to drink beer, eat food, and watch football as well as taking the kids off mom’s hands for the day.
It’s better than puppies.
