Is Chris Partridge HC worthy for UM?
December 5th, 2020 at 5:02 PM ^
I’ll take that. Brown is the reason UM has sucked. Brown is a shitty coach and a shitty recruiter. I’d still stake Sarkisian over Harbaugh.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:04 PM ^
Browns defense has won more games for Harbaugh than Harbaugh’s own offense.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:13 PM ^
Brown’s defense hasn’t beat a decent team since he’s been the UM DC.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:07 PM ^
Brown is reason UM has sucked? Brown is brutal, but before this year he carried this sad pathetic O. Harbaugh’s O sucks and needs to wake up. If he gsts the extension it will go down as a defining moment in this program in a huge negative way. Screw Warde Manuel.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:10 PM ^
Yup. Rumors are supposedly on The Wolverine boards and I’m seeing them popping up on Twitter too
December 5th, 2020 at 5:19 PM ^
If thats the case, I say you kick the tires on Woodson for DC. Pay him as much as it takes, let him pick all new assistants on D and actually recruit DBs that can run and develop. If it all works out with him make him HC when Jim's contract is up.
I won't listen to arguments about Woodson having no coaching experience...the guy has excelled individually, and as a team at all levels of football. He fully embraces the hard work and mindset it takes to reach the expectations MI traditionally has.
A guy can dream.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
Do you have a single example of this ever happening successfully in college football? Where a legend from a power five program goes back to coach them and does it successfully? No? There's a reason OSU is coached by guys who went to Cincinnati and New Hampshire, and not freakin Eddie George or Archie Griffin. Because they're more qualified and are actually, you know, coaches
December 5th, 2020 at 5:52 PM ^
So your reason that it won't work is because its never happend before? Ok thanks for the analysis bud.
December 5th, 2020 at 10:53 PM ^
Horrible take. Love Woodson but man you must thinking coaching is easy.
December 5th, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
I figured it would be too soon for him.. Just surprised his name hasn’t come up at all, and I think he might be a decent HC at some point.
December 5th, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
Double post
Get rid of Harbaugh!!!!
December 5th, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
For some college team somewhere? Sure. At Michigan? Good lord no.
Harbaugh may well be fired. He absolutely should not be replaced by a former HS coach with no college HC position and barely any assistant experience
December 5th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
I mean Partridge hasn’t been a coordinator but has been an assistant for most 5(?) years now. Players love him. Need a leader and person people can get behind to be a HC. I believe there are better options than Partridge for UM, but just wanted to hear others thoughts.
December 5th, 2020 at 4:46 PM ^
No. His vaunted 2017 recruiting class was a complete sham. He was run out of the building.
December 5th, 2020 at 4:49 PM ^
Does the name Gerry Faust ring a bell with anyone?
(Yes, I'm old. Google it.)
December 5th, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
Moeller HS Cincinnati to ND.
December 5th, 2020 at 4:50 PM ^
No but Tom Allen is!
December 5th, 2020 at 4:50 PM ^
Not another one of these asinine threads.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:02 PM ^
Please don't tell me we just re-signed Harbaugh with Matt Campbell right there, knocking on the door of a conference championship at Iowa freakin State. That would be just utterly deflating for any hopes of greater success next year
December 5th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
Campbell would be a dud hire and is not the spark UM needs. He’s winning in the worst conference in football and his signature win is against the worst Oklahoma team in a decade. Campbell is Hoke minus 50 pounds.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:30 PM ^
Campbell beat Oklahoma in Norman in 2017, also. That was the same Oklahoma team that beat OSU in Columbus earlier that year
So...revise your take
December 5th, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
Hoke could have made it if he had left behind the offensive staff, especially Funk.
The D was solid, and the recruiting was to prior standards for sure.
What did him in was the OL.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:16 PM ^
Is this real life?
December 5th, 2020 at 7:18 PM ^
Is this just fantasy?
December 5th, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
no coach will succeed at michigan until the crap that sunk three straight coaches is fixed. culture, administration, whatever? michigan has become a destination for coaches to die.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:32 PM ^
Feelingsball
Nothing about the culture changed from Carr to Harbaugh and yet the results are significantly different
Hiring a one hit wonder, a dude over his head, and an admitted bust isn't a curse. It's just bad luck
December 5th, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
Come again ?
Shouldn't knock Carr. The program was good enough, and we had a monopoly on star QBs, with Mallett to be the next one.
The shade that DeBord got here was wrong, too.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
No. However, I would welcome him back as DC, also, a top recruiter,
December 5th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
Never should have left in the first place.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:33 PM ^
DC yes
December 5th, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
There’s bad takes.
There’s terrible takes.
...and then there’s this take
December 5th, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
The post wasn’t a take. It was an inquiry.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
Harbaugh will return. Chris Balas from Rivals reporting the same today and he states a 3 year extension is signed and will be announced next week. In addition, 5-10 players waiting to see what the staff changes look like before opting for the Transfer Portal.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:42 PM ^
Are these supposed to be players that are going to follow the fired coaches around? I find it hard to believe there are players on the team who won't stick around if Don Brown isn't retained, and would more readily believe they would leave it he comes back
December 5th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
He said a handful or two. That is significantly more than I thought. I was thinking 3-4.
December 5th, 2020 at 10:38 PM ^
I appreciate your insight here, but what the hell happened? We went from parting of the ways to a 3 yr extension? Sitting out Maryland and only losing to PSU by 10 was good enough to change course?
December 5th, 2020 at 11:25 PM ^
COVID and probably agreeing to sweeping staff changes.
Buckle up, I called a month ago a Harbaugh extension announcement followed by a series of “parting ways” releases on most the assistants.
Shoop: Gone
Nua: Gone
McDaniels: Gone
Brown: Gone
Moore: stays
Gattis: Unsure
Jay: Probably encouraged to find a G5 coordinator job or else he’ll be back
Ed: Stays
Zordich: Proooooobably safe
BJM: Unsure
Bet a new Chief of Staff replaces McGee.
Dudek: Stays
Herbert: Unsure
Most changes will come on defense. Think offense will get a pass with how young they are and injuries and such.
December 5th, 2020 at 11:51 PM ^
Dudeck stays!? Good god I hope not. Recruiting has been mediocre since he started, holes and busts all over the field. There's a reason OSU laughs at UM's recruiting strategy and results.
December 5th, 2020 at 11:17 PM ^
I don’t know about defense but I’m pretty sure if Gattis is on the outs that WR room is gonna get a lot less crowded.
December 5th, 2020 at 11:32 PM ^
Luckily there's already a lot of leg room in that WR room
December 5th, 2020 at 6:18 PM ^
I'm guessing RBs and WRs.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:39 PM ^
Absolutely not. 4 years in college is hardly “some time” and he’s in his first year as a CO-DC. Not even running his own unit.
You think our D is bad? Ole Miss is giving up the 2nd most yards in the country (~90 more yards per game than we are) and are 117th (out of 127) in points allowed per game at 38.8.
Partridge hasn’t even shown enough to be named our defensive coordinator, let alone head coach.
December 5th, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
No.
Next question
December 5th, 2020 at 5:58 PM ^
Worst post ever
December 5th, 2020 at 6:06 PM ^
Looks like a productive post to me.. got rumors about Harbaugh resigning out. Didn’t have to click it, fucking loser.
December 5th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
Is this a serious post? I award you no points...and may god have mercy on your soul
December 5th, 2020 at 7:05 PM ^
He would do a much better job as our DC than Brown and would jump at that opportunity.
