Sports Illustrated Daily Cover Story: Why Aren't More People Talking About the Ohio State Sex Abuse Scandal?
October 5th, 2020 at 12:36 PM ^
An extremely good read, and a good point
October 5th, 2020 at 12:47 PM ^
Sad, I do not subscribe to SI, but have they done a cover story on us yet for the Dr. Anderson's malfeasance or have they already done a few articles as we have taken steps to address this?
October 5th, 2020 at 12:51 PM ^
Don't remember seeing anything on their website. Found this one from back in July:

Because Ohio State fans are trash.
October 5th, 2020 at 12:45 PM ^
Amen to that!
October 5th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
Some might call them garb
October 5th, 2020 at 1:47 PM ^
....or poopers
October 5th, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
Or, cool poopers.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:44 PM ^
Exactly....
October 5th, 2020 at 12:44 PM ^
Isn't this an invitation for the NCAA to walk in and investigate? PED's by the athletic department?
October 5th, 2020 at 2:11 PM ^
Yes! Horrifying article, but I did find myself wishing there was more information about the distribution of PED’s by this pervert.
October 5th, 2020 at 12:55 PM ^
Just what every sexual criminal wants: A bunch of their victims jacked-up on steroids while dealing with emotional trauma.
October 5th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
First it happened to men, not women or children. Doesn't make it any better, just less moral outrage so people don't care as much.
Second, isn't the doctor deceased? If you can't parade him in front of a tv camera, people aren't going to take an interest.
I've known about this story for a year or two, so it's not exactly a coverup. Just not a lot of people care so it doesn't get much press.

The most sweeping sex abuse scandal in the history of American higher education—to say nothing of the history of college sports—played out over nearly 20 years on one of the largest campuses in the country.
I don't know that I personally agree with this, especially considering kids were being raped in the shower of the players locker room at Penn St by the defensive coordinator, but it is bad.
Maybe considering what happened at MSU, UM, and Covid, everyone is a little burned out with shitty news.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
Yep. It's a bit of a brutal truth, but it is the truth: some things "sell" more as regards media coverage than others.
This story simply doesn't have the "intangible" factor.
"Attractive missing female syndrome" is another thing folks here have talked about. A female pretty upper-middle-class missing 22-year-old University student will almost always get more media coverage than a female drab-looking lower-middle-class missing 22 year-old Community College student.
October 5th, 2020 at 2:35 PM ^
It has the Gym Jordan factor though.

Herbie, its Herbie protecting his flock

If you are going to have a major scandal now is the time. There is just too much going on for many news stories to get the attention they deserve. Once Covid fades (and national politics get less crazy…maybe?) there will be a few years of investigative reporting to be done on all the things that have been missed. At this point if you are an investigative journalist with information on a major scandal not Covid or national politics related do you even publish? How concerned are you that it will fall off the front page in hours and the majority of the public is too exhausted to pay attention?

In a letter to David Williams II, OSU’s vice president for student affairs, Strauss denied inappropriate behavior, writing: “It is unfortunate that the patient ejaculated in my office, but that’s his problem, not mine.”
Just wow man.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:31 PM ^
Yikes wtf
October 5th, 2020 at 1:50 PM ^
I mean, I'd say it's housekeeping's problem, but what do I know?
October 5th, 2020 at 1:16 PM ^
Besides the reasons listed in the article I also think there is scandal fatigue these days, unless it is something really extreme the general public won't latch onto the story.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
Because Jim Jordan is a powerful member of the House.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
Ding, Ding. Jordan desperately wants this story to die.
October 5th, 2020 at 2:17 PM ^
My wise ass response to the thread title was going to be, "Ohio State is paid up with the right people". Turns out this is actually true.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:34 PM ^
Just my humble opinion and someone can tell me I'm wrong, but the current media news cycle moves at the speed of light. Something that happened 12 hours ago, 95% of the time, is old news and few people care anymore. We have so much information at our fingertips now and we can learn about something happening on the other side of the world within seconds of it happening that its almost too much to keep up with everything that may have happened immediately before it.
No one talks about the OSU story, in part, because its old news. People already know about it, and are moving on to the next scandal. Also, as someone pointed out on the thread already, the perpetrator is dead, and I believe he's been dead for a long time. There is no face for the media to parade around on the nightly news like there was with Larry Nassar.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Why aren't they talking about Michigan and Schembechler/Anderson?
So much focus on Ohio State on this board. It seems like a little more self-awareness would be useful.
Are fans just completely unaware of what happened with Anderson or is it just ignored?
October 5th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
There was plenty of discussion about Bo and Anderson on this here board. Brian even did a front pager about it.
do your homework before you spout off next time.
October 5th, 2020 at 2:10 PM ^
OSU story is a lot older than the Anderson story. We don't see daily updates on Anderson, why would anybody be talking about this story anymore?
October 5th, 2020 at 2:42 PM ^
Looks from your join date like you might be new to this board. Trust me, we're WELL AWARE of what happened with Anderson. Every new article that comes out results in 200-post thread of self-flagellation. This blog even made it's opinion clear about what should happen to Bo's legacy.
Suffice it to say that this board has established the right to question OSU's lack of accountability.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:39 PM ^
We are in an election cycle and Jim Jordan is a visible and important member of Congress. People will use any tool at their disposal and anything that can be twisted, even remotely, will be used.
Why else is Ohio State the focus and not Michigan or PSU for that matter. Think about it.
October 6th, 2020 at 3:27 PM ^
It's why Trump had to make it a point to tell everyone in the debate that be brought back big ten football this season.
He WILL carry Ohio because of that statement.
October 5th, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
This is typical of Ohio State and everything they represent...I hope this creep is rotting in hell and that their University leaders have learned a lesson (highly doubtful!).
October 5th, 2020 at 2:08 PM ^
Yeah, it felt like OSU hasn't received the media heat that UM has received for Anderson. Maybe that's because every article on Anderson was front-and-center on this board so I'm just more aware of that coverage (which we deserve, by the way).
Sexual assault in any form is sexual assault, full stop. But the accounts from some Strauss victims are another level of depraved as he would incapacitate and then sodomize his victims.
October 5th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
Not sure too many outside this forum are aware of Anderson. Doesn't seem to get a lot of attention either.
October 5th, 2020 at 2:48 PM ^
It was on the front page of ESPN before the COVID and quarantine hit, shifting coverage away from just about everything to the pandemic.
October 5th, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
I think the hard truth is men / college-aged men getting abused isn't nearly as interesting of news nationally as girls being abused (MSU) or kids being abused (PSU) is. The latter two made for great TV, the terrible things that happened here and in Columbus just won't get as much interest. Similar to why domestic abuse of men often goes unreported. There's still some underlying beliefs that men should just toughen up or deal with it.
October 5th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
At this point, I'll be surprised if there's a large midwestern school that hasn't covered up some kind of sex scandal in the past. What a disgrace
October 5th, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
96.3 classic rock station morning show in Columbus shamed the heck out of OSU and the local media for lack of coverage on a daily basis over this story. I'm not sure how much Torg and Elliott are actual OSU fans though. Elliott is from Michigan and I believe Torg is from Minnesota.

Repetitive.
October 5th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
Its what we have grown to expect over the past years. The saggy State School wins enough for every one to look away.
October 5th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
More of the same. Especially the PED situation is going to get squelched. The entire state of Ohio will not let their sacred institution (O$U athletics) be bothered by this inconvenience.
Isn't the Brett McMurphy at the bottom of Lake Erie now?
October 5th, 2020 at 11:13 PM ^
You do know that we had an eerily similar scandal.
I imagine their scandal is getting as much press in Columbus as ours is getting here.
October 7th, 2020 at 5:58 AM ^
He stopped practicing medicine for Ohio State in 1996, nearly 25 years ago.
He committed suicide in 2005.
Ohio State admitted fault and settled with the plaintiffs for around $50 million.
I hate O$U too, but what else is there to discuss?
December 20th, 2020 at 1:41 AM ^
I don't quite understand why people do this. After all, any man can go to a dating site and find himself a beautiful girl for various purposes and even for entertainment.

Greetings to all! I want to say that recently I found a great url where I could find a rating of great dating sites! But these are not simple dating sites, there you can find a certain fetish, or rather bdsm dating! If you have long dreamed of diversifying your life, then I recommend this source to you!
