OT: Duncan Robinson having a heck of a game
Robinson currently has 21 points (6 for 6 from 3).
Game airing on ESPN. Heat currently up 71-59
This can also serve as an NBA playoff open thread

I don’t think Duncan Robinson should ever be considered OT (at least if it is about his performance on the court).

My bad I got all hyped up to start this thread and didn't double check what I was doing

Didn’t mean that to come across as critical as it may have sounded. Just hoping that Duncan Robinson is a Wolverine we can all be celebrating for many years

I just had to explain to my son that, from a stats perspective, Duncan Robinson just had the best catch and shoot 3-point season in the history of the NBA (minimum 500 attempts). Better than Steph; better than Klay.
I'm not saying he's a better shooter (esp overall) but the numbers he is putting up (including in playoff games) are absurd. It blows my mind.
Miami has a legit shot at coming out of the East, and it's due in no small part to him regularly bombing other teams to the tune of 6-8 3-pt field goals a game while playing passable NBA defense.

From a Michigan perspective, this is the most fun the playoffs have been for a while.

Duncan is playing better and better D the longer the season has gone on too.

It's pretty interesting to see how he has developed. He has had perhaps a bigger impact in NBA games than he did at Michigan.

Agreed! And same could probably even be said about THJ the past couple years...

He hit a nasty 3 off the dribble at the end of the 3rd. If he can start creating his own shot, this dude could be a star. (Granted, that’s a big if. And he’d be a great rotational player without it)
August 20th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
He can create his own shot. He's one of the best players in the league at creating his shot off the ball and without the ball in his hands. I know that's not what you were trying to say, but that's just as if not more impressive and valuable to a team because he doesn't need the ball in his hands to create his own shot

I think he meant if he could drive the basket he can be a star. I’ve seen him do it in spurts but if he could do it consistently then he will make a lot of money in this league.

Understand the point but with the way he is shooting it, every time Duncan steps inside the 3 line, it's a win for the defense. Even if he is not getting consistently open for 3, he is forcing a defender (or two) to constantly chase him and play out beyond the 3 line. That's great for spacing.
August 20th, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
That’s the problem. As the NBA teams are finding out about him the more difficult and less chance he has to make a 3. If he could pose a risk of going to the basket he will have more chance of shooting 3’s.

Why doesn't it say Michigan next to education?

I blame the Russians. LOL

Maybe ask your buddy Julian to get on it?

Michigan basketball is the gift that keeps on giving. Flipping the game on now.

In coming years, DR might be the first NBA player to not miss a 3 point shot in the entire season (minimum 25 attempts).

I’ve started following the nba more since the bubble just because I’ve been so sports starved and I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve watched the mavs nets and heat (for obvious reasons) and have seen some great games

If the OP title read, "Duncan Robinson is Covid free and is also having a hell of a game" you'd have over a 100 responses already. Funny how the "let's play football crowd" is more interested in commenting on the pandemic then actual sports. Meanwhile we have the NBA, NHL, MLS, PGA, and all manner of fighting sports ongoing. Let's talk some sports guys!

Duncan Robinson is a restricted free agent after the 2020-2021 season. What do you think Miami will pay him? My guess is 3 for 36. Guys on minimum contracts don't typically sign for full value.
August 20th, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
IF he has another great year he will absolutely get offered significantly more than 3/36. I’d guess around 4/80

Duncan's dedication vs Jordan Poole's dedication.
August 20th, 2020 at 7:18 PM ^
Poole was dedicated enough to make the NBA. I believe there are less NBA players than billionaires in the US. Seems pretty damn dedicated to me.

CBS story focuses on Robinson, with clips of 4 of his 7 threes.
