Per his 2019 roster capsule, he was "Enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts".  Since no major is listed, I'd imagine he didn't graduate.  No big, he'll have all the time in the world after football.

Finally a second year in the same system with the same OC.

another year with a dedicated WR coach.

physical maturity which takes place he’s only 20/21 years old

mental maturity see above.

higher probability he would have seen an uptick in targets for to some transfers.

going into a season healthy without a nagging injury, was it his hamstring or quad?

You don't have to cover for China or the WHO.  You can hate orange man as much as you like, and still recognize the WHO's utter failure in this pandemic because of structural issues and influence from China (likely due to monetary influence/gain).

They parroted China's lies almost verbatim.  Here is a story from The Atlantic, it begins with a Berkley research scientist noticing this obvious issue.  Can we agree a Berkley scientist isn't likely to be a fan of orange man, and is very likely to be a fact-based researcher?  Ok then.  Put your stupid ass politics aside and read.  It describes the obvious deceit by China and failures of the WHO.  If you disagree, provide evidence against the conclusions of this article.

Hindsight is 20/20. Did we think that he should've returned? Yes. But I don't think anyone envisioned him falling that far in the draft. I thought there was no way he got past Day 2 just on his athleticism and upside alone

Slipping to day 3 did not surprise me at all. When his NFL scouting reports have comments like, "Release lacks twitch and suddenness", "Press jams find him all game long", "Play speed is very gradual and non-threatening", "Will have NFL cornerbacks parked in his pocket" and "Unable to shake tight man to open extended windows" it makes you wonder if he received that feedback before declaring.

I can see him not being happy.  OK, he’s not the best route runner, but we should have been at least chucking more jump balls to him.

Ah yes, the old “Just Chuck it Up!” offense, brilliant, and a close second to the, “call the TD play!” offense.

Too bad Harbaugh and Gattis forgot to tear out the “fumble the snap on the 10 yard line” and “drop the ball that hit you in the numbers just before the half” pages from the playbook.  All the while the should just been chucking jump balls!  How stupid!

DPJ will be fine, Nico will take away a lot of targets next year, I don't see how his stock would have improved much.  He will have a real chance to kill it with us this year in the slot.  Defenses will already have to cover OBJ, Landry and Chubb.  One of the best athletes I've ever seen being singled up on a safety or LB will be fun.

Yeah yeah yeah, ok we get it. And he knows it probably.  But let’s just wish the young man good luck and hope he has a shot in the league.  Hail.

Also, Nico and Ronnie might make some serious dough in the near future.  I think they are going to have a really good season. (That’s saying we have one).

Should we not get down on DPJ?  Absolutely.  Good luck to him and hopefully he turns it on.

Should we highlight this as a learning example future students who are deliberating an early departure?  Absolutely.  DPJ probably cost himself millions by making a premature move (not to mention adding further negative pressure to the next UM team by removing an experienced team leader and offensive weapon.)

Live and learn.

It's a choice, you live with and improve upon. You can use it as motivation or you can let it define yourself.

Devin Funchess, 6'4, 25 left Michigan a year early in 2015, when he went in the second round to the Carolina Panthers as a big target for Cam Newton, and lasted three seasons before going to the Colts where he caught 3 balls on 5 targets in the team's season opening OT loss to the LA Chargers, before being sidelined the rest of the year. He has since moved on to the Packers.

His best year in the pros was his third in 2017 when he grabbed 63 passes for 840 yards, a 13.3 reception average, a long of 44 to go with 8 TDs. The next season his catches dropped by 19, his catch yardage fell to 549, with his longest reception, 27 yards, and only 4 TDs.

Did he make the right choice? Your career is whatever you make it in any profession. At this stage, if you were ask the Farmington Hills HS graduate, he's probably feeling pretty good about his decision, all things considered.

DPJ suffered under the criminal lack of proper use by the Michigan football coaching staff. DPJ, Black, and Collins were the biggest waste of a talented receiver corps by a coaching staff in the history of Michigan football. Thanks, Jimmy!

The only thing we know about Black is that he was fairly highly rated. He had a good start to his career before the foot, but never really got back to that level (or so it seemed). There's a reason that other receivers were getting more PT.

Heard a rumor which I think comes from behind a paywall. Heard that it was either DPJ or Nico. If DPJ stayed, Nico was gonna declare. Since DPJ declared, Nico stayed. Take that for what its worth, but if it's either/or- I'll take Nico every time

I am betting that NFL coaches will make him the player we all hoped he was going to be at Michigan but didn't quite live up to.

Agreed.  There was bad blood in the WR room last year.  Black transfers.  DPJ bolts from his “dream school” before his degree.  Something is “rotten in Denmark”.  Those guys did not buy in to yet another OC ...

Doesn’t DPJ want to go to medical school? If he’s looking for a career that will require an additional 7-10 years of training and then last a lot longer than the avg 4 year NFL career, it makes sense to go make some tuition money playing football, then get on with life.

Well let's take a look. In addition to the issues already mentioned let me add that this young man was forced to play with a QB who had neither composure nor accuracy-for two years. That at this time Shea has not yet been picked up by any NFL team surely informs us that his play was indeed deficient-as many have maintained.  Why would DPJ stay for an additional year of inept coaching and no assurance that this year's QB play would not be cut from the same cloth as this first three years???

It is easy for us to sit here and second guess DPJ for things we know nothing about.

DPJ should have stayed in school

Agreed, it would have been nice to see him have a great senior year.  He's proven he can play and would be a starter and maybe he'd be more motivated to move up the draft boards.  And, Gattis is known for his work with the WRs.

Gott wonder why the #3 receiver would leave when they have another year

Because he was a 5-star recruit, probably had his eyes on the NFL since HS, had a great Combine performance, knows he has the physical traits, had injuries last year, and expected to get drafted higher.  Who knows, maybe he didn't get along with Gattis or just wanted to make some money.  Although, I thought I remembered hearing about him wanting to be a physician back when he was being recruited.

Yeah rough decision but a rough situation for him.

Eh, everything is relative.  Maybe rough for the top WR recruit @ UM all time.  But, dude is still going to get an opportunity to play in the NFL and will literally be a millionaire at 21 years old very shortly.  Hard to feel too bad the guy.  I'm sure many would love to have it that rough.
