Chase Young would be a perfect fit for the Lions. Doesn’t show up in big games when it matters.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:13 AM ^
In the three biggest OSU games this year, against us, Wisconsin and Clemson, Young had zero sacks and zero TFL's.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:20 AM ^
They only really needed him to show up in one game this year and would been fine rest of season without him
December 29th, 2019 at 11:12 AM ^
But Kirk Herbstreit said he was the best Defensive lineman since Reggie White.
December 29th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
Well those stats got Rashan Gary a first round slot.
Ill see myself out.
December 29th, 2019 at 11:50 AM ^
To be fair, he had a few borderline knock-downs on just-too-late pressures, and he did try to wrench off Trevor Lawrence's helmet after the hit that got Wade ejected.
December 29th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
Sort of like Matt Stafford - PERFECT!!!
December 29th, 2019 at 7:05 AM ^
I'm not sold on Chase Young. JK Dobbins was the best player on that team. The OSU offensive line was their best unit. Don't get me wrong, Chase Young is a great player but I don't think he's as good as Nick Bosa. Young has been pretty much shut down over the last few games.
And maybe the Lions need to think about getting a QB...
December 29th, 2019 at 7:07 AM ^
So do the Lions take Shea or Lewerke!?
December 29th, 2019 at 7:11 AM ^
+1 to you and point taken. Actually, if they're smart, they take Brady White out of Memphis (if he goes pro) in the second or third round.
December 29th, 2019 at 11:29 AM ^
Even I can see there is something wrong with his mechanics. He leans back too far when he throws. Nobody in the NFL got time for that.
December 29th, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
Not going to argue on his mechanics but the same could be said about a lot of great QBs over the years, including Favre. I've seen him play and throw ridiculously accurate passes even ok the run. Diamond in the rough, IMHO, that would be a steal in later rounds of the draft. Bet the Patriots take chance...
December 29th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
Smart would be doing whatever they need to do to get trevor Lawrence in 2021
December 29th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
Already have Blough
December 29th, 2019 at 7:55 AM ^
Stafford is literally the least of the Lions problems. I swear people won’t be satisfied until we’re back to having a revolving door at QB
December 29th, 2019 at 9:23 AM ^
Stafford has been too good for too long to continue playing for that team. They should trade him to a contender for as many picks as they can get (he deserves to play for a winner and his contract will look pretty good after Dak, Mahomes, etc sign theirs), draft Young or some other stud, and tank in 2020 with Blough at QB then draft Trevor Lawrence. While they're at it, trade any older vet for whatever picks they can get (Marvin Jones, Snacks, etc).
December 29th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
Can get on board with Tank for Trevor. Generational talent.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:28 AM ^
I think you are misreading my comment. I have no problem with Stafford. However, I think he’s nearing the end of his career and planning for his replacement should begin now.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:32 AM ^
He will be 32 next season. That isn’t nearing the end of his career.
Lions need defensive help in the worst way. Taking a QB high would be fucking idiotic for a team with so many other holes.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
With back injuries two years in a row...
December 30th, 2019 at 7:57 AM ^
Stafford's body is much older than 32, has been taking a beating for years, unlike Tom who gets hit occasionally. I say draft Tua and let him develop behind Stafford for a year or so. That is how good organizations develop qbs, but I suppose were not talking about a good organization....
December 29th, 2019 at 1:47 PM ^
We need a tight end.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:25 AM ^
Considering they already have a nearly 30 million dollar qb in his prime coming off his best statistical season ever.......um no thanks.
Every other team besides Lions with a qb that has a rating above 100 this season is in the playoffs. The offense is more than fine. Every one of those games except for one that they lost or tied with Stafford they had a lead in the 4th quarter but defense couldn't get a stop.
The Lions need defense, defense and more defense
December 29th, 2019 at 9:31 AM ^
The point isn’t that Stafford isn’t good, the point is he was injured and the Lions need to start thinking about grooming a replacement. How much longer do you think he has in the NFL?
December 29th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
No, they don’t. He has another 6-8 years.
Is that you Millen?
December 29th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
The guy has already broken his back twice. If you think he makes it to 40 in the NFL you're crazy.
December 29th, 2019 at 1:17 PM ^
Considering that most NFL qbs at his age and level play deep into their 30s nowadays without any regression either until late 30s.
Rodgers, Brady, brees, big Ben, Rivers.....no reason at all to think he can't play another 6 or so years at his current level
December 29th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
Respectfully disagree, chase young is a beast. Maybe you’re right about JK being the best player on that team, but Chase makes you game plan for him and maybe didn’t have the stats yesterday but he was constantly affecting the game,
December 29th, 2019 at 7:21 AM ^
The Lions should draft a toilet
December 29th, 2019 at 7:34 AM ^
Another one?
December 29th, 2019 at 7:37 AM ^
There is a lot of shit that needs to be flushed
December 29th, 2019 at 8:20 AM ^
At least if you draft one Chase Young you get a free cooler with him.
December 29th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
With the lid open I bet hes got a pretty good catch radius......
December 29th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
They already play in one. Would be a natural movement for Chase.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:21 AM ^
They should draft okudah over young. CB is a much bigger need than edge rushers
December 29th, 2019 at 9:14 AM ^
Torn on this--I agree Okudah is better than Young, but they really need an edge rusher
December 29th, 2019 at 9:27 AM ^
Hasn't been a corner taken in top 3 in NFL draft this century. If going to do that them should trade back few spots And grab some extra picks
December 29th, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
Anyone that watches OSU football knows okudah is far and away a high end NFL talent. If corner it's what you need, and he's available when you pick, you don't oass him up.
December 29th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
Seems an awful lot like the logic that got us a TE in the top 10.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:26 AM ^
Not sold on Young. In their last 3 big games, what has he done?
December 29th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
You can't evaluate a guy on how he performs when he's on a job action. I don't know what triggered it but I know "working to rule" when I see it.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:26 AM ^
Chase Young May not be overrated but he sure was from the Michigan game on. It kills me to say this but Ryan Day called a great game and OSU should have won. That was the most dominating loss I think I’ve ever witnessed.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:01 AM ^
"That was the most dominating loss I think I’ve ever witnessed."
Really? I've seen tens (not hundreds) of games like that. A team up 16-0 that gets outscored 29-7 the rest of the way isn't really that dominating, sorry. OSU had ~500 yards, Clemson ~400. It was a close game, could have gone either way, but come on.
December 29th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
Ohio state also ran a lot more plays than Clemson in the game. That's one reason why they had more yardage.
Bottom line their 10 play 65 yard drives were ending in field goals while Clemson was getting stopped 3 and outs more but when they did cross into osu side of the field hey were putting up 6 points
December 29th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
Might have been worried he may get hurt And wasn't going 100 pct. At this point he's got everything to lose and nothing to gain
December 29th, 2019 at 8:27 AM ^
After watching the bowl games w relevance Young would be a mid round pick. Lot of good d backs, interior d line. We’ll see if they trade down to take the LSU team in full. Clemson o line. Quinn fucks this up put The Ol Lady Ford at nose tackle and rid ourselves of the family.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:27 AM ^
you have to hate a guy a bunch to want the lions to draft him.
hey, OP, when are you going to 'draft' that sparty girl and ask her out on a date?
December 29th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
hey, OP, when are you going to 'draft' that sparty girl and ask her out on a date?
Oh, come on, man--don't encourage this...
