Fleck or Harbaugh
The question that must be asked, is PJ Fleck a better COLLEGE coach that Harbaugh. Legit question considering what both coaches have so far accomplished given the tools they have been given. It is categorically unquestionable PJ has surpassed JH in his time at Univ Minn., given the respective resources available...i hate Fleck's politics but think he is a better coach...

Revenge Tour 2018?
November 10th, 2019 at 3:35 AM ^
Dude, seriously. Stop. Yeah Minnesota has a better record, but they played Penn State today, and beat them. We almost beat Penn State. Big difference, because we play in the East and they play in the West.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:22 PM ^
How has Michigan done in Big 10 Championship games under Harbaugh....oh wait.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
Oh, OSU is better than Minny. Fleck is still a better coach than Harbaugh.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
I missed the part of why this question must be asked. If you don’t know the answer to that stupid ass question then I just don’t know...
November 9th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
If Harbaugh and Michigan were in the West we’d have at least 1 playoff appearance already, maybe 2.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:09 PM ^
We would still get blasted by OSU in the BIG championship game so I don’t think we would have made any playoffs

Unquestionable? Get the fuck out of here. Minnesota beat an overrated Penn State team while being ranked #17 in the country. Their best win before that was against Illinois.
November 10th, 2019 at 3:42 AM ^
Yes yes yes! Exactly my point. I keep saying it, Harbaugh is better beacuse we lost to Penn State. Think boys, think before you commient.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Harbaugh is better. All day. Every day.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
Tough call. Are 2 Pioneer League trophies shinier than 1 MAC trophy?
Inquiring minds want to know.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
Harbaugh beat Penn St. both times at home.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
Let's see PJ Fleck go into a Whiteout and come out with a W.
Harbaugh destroys Penn State at home.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
And he loses on the road during a white out. Both times. Harbaugh has not met expectations.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
Stanford Harbaugh is better than Fleck. Michigan Harbaugh is not. I think most of what people are frustrated about is looking so disjointed in big games. The WR drops and deciding to kick a 58 yard field goal against psu, running the ball under 1 minute at the end of the 1st half vs indiana etc. At Michigan with all of the resources that you have you shouldnt be struggling to get any sort of defensive tackle or corner to commit to you 5 years in.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
This is the correct take.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
PJ Fleck's accomplishments at Minnesota:
2017: 5-7, 0-2 against ranked teams
2018: 7-6, 0-1 against ranked teams
2019: 9-0, 1-0 against ranked teams
It's not bad, exactly, but he's had exactly one real good day, and that was today. I know we're frustrated with Harbaugh's record against OSU, but he's smacked around Penn State more than once, as well as a number of other ranked teams. Don't see how you compare them at this point.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:45 PM ^
Oh boy I saw this post coming a mile away
November 9th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
Good for you!
November 9th, 2019 at 9:48 PM ^
Fleck...hands down. The Jimmy Michigan got was not the Jimmy we was hoping for.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
Unbiased opinion is not the popular opinion. Minnesota isnt going to be down 35-0 to Wisconsin like we were.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:54 PM ^
If they'd played them in week 3 like we did, they might have. That was when they were struggling to beat Georgia State.
We wouldn't get blown out by UW in week 10, either.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
The question that must be asked....
Started disagreeing with you at this point. Didnt get much better either.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
Harbaugh all day every day. If Michigan had PSU at home like Minny did, Michigan wins by two scores minimum. Home Harbaugh >> away Harbaugh. I was totally geeked about Minnesota's win today because I hate PSU. But if I had to make a bet for next week, I think Iowa wins. And I think Wisconsin runs over them on Nov. 30. Great season for Minnesota standards though.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
idk. iowa's offense is terrible. minny might squeak that one out in a game with both teams in the teens.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
This really calls for a "Quit drinking and go to bed" response.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
Im drinking, but you are the one that needs to go to bed.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
So is Fleck a commie? He’s a commie isn’t he? I knew it. Him and his proletariat team attitude. ?
November 9th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Minnesota has now played...one team in the SP+ top 50 and just barely held on at home to beat PSU. I think Fleck is a good coach, but one of his greatest strengths seems to be capitalizing on opportunities that may or may not be sustainable. Like, his best year at WMU they had the #2 TO margin in the country, and this year they're in the top-20. They'll go to Iowa next weekend and that'll tell us a lot about how sustainable this success is; my guess is they come back to earth a bit even though Iowa is pretty meh.
November 10th, 2019 at 2:14 AM ^
I've been searching through this thread looking for reputable poster, it took me till the second page, but yeah Fleck seems to be a good coach but come the fuck on people, we are drooling over a guy who beat James Franklin by 5 points At home....
November 10th, 2019 at 3:52 AM ^
Exactly. How can Fleck be a good coach if his teams don't turn the ball over??? Makes no sense. Best coaches always have the biggest negative turnover ratio, that way they really have to coach hard to catch up.
November 10th, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
It will perhaps shock you to learn that Michigan's TO margin under Harbaugh has been
- 2019 - 57th (.11), and at one point they were the worst team in the country in TO margin
- 2018 - 38th (.38)
- 2017 - 90th (-0.31)
- 2016 - 24th (0.54)
- 2015 - 92nd (-0.31)
So of course, Jim Harbaugh and co. have remembered, forgotten, re-remembered, then forgot, then sorta stumbled into the idea of ball security and turnover generation since he's been at Michigan. Illinois is currently #2 in the country because they have picked up 26 TOs this year versus 14 lost, while last year they gained 20 but turned over 24. Two years ago they had 26 TOs but only picked up 19. It must be because Lovie Smith only now discovered the secret to holding onto the ball and getting from others in his beard and not, you know, semi-random chance that's hard to predict and probably isn't something you want to rely on repeating year-to-year.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Just wanna know why Minny pretended to be FSU today and if the dood from Ballers bangs PJ's wife she knows the difference.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
My opinion: Everyone who talks up Fleck right now as the 2nd coming of Nick Saban or Urban Meyer is not just quite ignorant about how college football works, but they should just go ahead buy a Minnesota shirt or something. Or whatever team Fleck will be at next, be it FSU or USC or what else.
November 9th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
That question "must be asked?"
The question that really"must be asked", is why are you allowed to create posts?

I was here at the beginning, when everything was flash and you were in 5th grade in 2008. Talk shit about being able to post to someone else son.

November 9th, 2019 at 10:06 PM ^
I remember when Commie High turned out quality graduates. That must've ended in 95 or so.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
I mean honestly I think Michigan beats Penn State at home as well, but you also have to compare Minnesota resources to Michigan resources. He's doing an excellent job with what he has to work with. We would be in a dogfight with Minnesota if we played them.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:48 PM ^
Nah. Easy win.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
What a dumbfuck post.
Comparing the dude who has given us our best records in YEARS to the dude who went 5-7 and 7-6 his first two years in one of the worst divisions in the power 5. This fan base man.
November 9th, 2019 at 11:01 PM ^
Upvoted.
Fleck's prior biggest win was in the f'n Quick Lane Bowl.
OP glossing Fleck is embarrassing.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:10 PM ^
Good Gotham. This self righteous black and white, political demonization bullshit is seriously effing tired. If you're so convinced that there's NO good reason to vote one way or another other than the fact that you're a either a skinhead or a commie, you're doing it way, way wrong.
He's a football coach, not your senator.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:12 PM ^
Dumb premise.
Harbs is the right coach for UM. Maybe not the best possible coach under whatever parameter, Doesn't matter. Right coach, right place. Gtfo my lawn.
November 9th, 2019 at 10:12 PM ^
Honestly there are a lot of better coaches than Harbaugh ...Lots of coaches have done more with less ..You should know by now in the mgo community Harbaugh is the greatest thing since Bo and should not be questioned

November 9th, 2019 at 10:14 PM ^
The important takeaway is to schedule cream puffs and play your tough games at home so you get a great record like Minnesota.
