Sunday NCAA's: KY v. Auvburn; Duke v. sparty
Mates,
Would be great to get more games like last night's barn burner with Purdue and UVA, or even T-Tech and Gonzaga.
Both of today's games are on CBS. Tip off for the first is at 2:20
1. Kentucky v. Auburn, 1 vs 5, with Kentucky a 4 1/2 point favorite
2. Duke v. sparty with Duke only a 2 point favorite. Tip off at 5:05.
Duke has looked very vulnerable and sparty has played very well this last month. Even Izzo deserves credit for what I perceive as his best coaching job ever.
Simple question: Who do you have in each game and if you feel like saying so, why did you pick that way?
Enjoy your Sunday,
XM
GO DUKE!!!
Why?
Because of those insufferable fucks in EL.
I don’t think MSU beats Duke, Texas tech and Virginia/Kentucky.
but if they do...can’t help but tip your hat to that tourney run. (Knocking off a 3, 1, 3 and 1 or 2)
and if they do make it to final 4 or championship and lose...they accomplished what Michigan did last year. No harm no foul.
I will never tip my had to Staee; doing so condones winning at all costs:
1. Garbage school
2. Garbage fanbase
3. Garbage BoT
4. Coaches that enable a culture of sexual assault
5. Garbage leadership (e.g., Nassar wasn't on staff so it's not really our fault)
6. Other garbage people there: glenn winston, William Gholston, Corey Tropp, Tony Mandrich, Spartan Bob, et al
You don’t have to like them, but a tourney run like that would be respectful.
Sorry. Integrity doesn't have an on/off switch. You either have it or you don't.
The MSU obsession is real.

Here... I'll lower myself to the Sparty level:
GO FUCK YOURSELF!
Trust me I do not want MSU to win and I agree that institution is garbage along with a lot of athletes they have.
I said from the day the bracket was announced that they had a cakewalk to the Elite 8. Yes, they showed well for themselves in the tourney so far, but they should have against the scrubs they played.
If they can advance any further, then a tip of the cap, but still, screw them. That program, university, and fan base deserves misery.
This^^. Go Duke!! (Just threw up a little bit in my mouth..)
On a practical note - we don’t really go head to head vs. Duke for recruits like we do with Sparty and I don’t think the conference reputation argument means much given the numbers and results already in the tourney.
i hope they all lose.
I think Duke will win because Nick Ward is so lumbering. Cassius is the man though.
I really like Auburn but how do they fare without Chuma?
The Dukes and Cats advance. Don't care for either.
I like Auburn to win. One of their top guys tore his ACL, but they've been very good their past two games. Their first game wasn't all that close for most of the game and had a last minute collapse, and I think they learned from that experience. And I think Kentucky has escaped the past two games
Also, with similar logic, I'll take MSU. Especially if Reddish isn't playing. I just think MSU's basketball IQ and balance outweighs Duke's. Duke is starkly more athletic, but they've been escaping against much worse teams than MSU.
We'll see though. Should be good games
If Duke didn't also escape VT, I would have picked Duke. But escaping VT and UCF makes me think this team is very flawed, and didn't just have a flukey scare against UCF
Dawkins played out of his mind and va tech faced duke not full strength so who knows...it’s madness.
It's the beauty of the NCAA's
Is va tech really much worse than MSU? Va tech had some big wins this year and losses. Pretty similar.
UCF with Dawkins scoring 32 shooting 7-9 for 3 is hard to overcome also.
I'd say so.
Also, Jones was 5/7 from 3 against VT and he's a 25% 3 point shooter.
Stuff like that happens where somebody plays out of their mind.
I just don't think escaping VT and UCF, regardless of circumstances, are signs of a champion. In fact I think there are only three teams ever to have two separate one-possession games prior to the FF that went on to win the title.
And mcpoyle scored 27 against Michigan, crazy happens, like you said.
I agree duke is very vulnerable, flawed and needs to play to what they are hyped to be to beat MSU.
But VA Tech did beat Duke, Syracuse, Purdue, Washington...so they are not complete garbage.
I do not want MSU to win. Trying to influence myself lol
I'm not saying they're garbage at all. They're ranked 12th on KenPom. But they're also -7 compared to MSU on KenPom too.
I'm just saying that Duke really hasn't been dominating good teams this year, and the public perception from Zion and that first game against Kentucky has made us think more highly of Duke than they really are.
Duke is very good. But they're flawed, and teams as young as them without a good upperclassman leader historically haven't won the whole thing.
The game should be good, and it's a shame one of them has to win
I don’t care if duke wins the whole thing. I just want them to win today. Hahaha. But yes leadership helps.
Duke by 6
kentucky by 8
Okeke out for Auburn may be too much to overcome.
Kentucky starting as hot as auburn is cold.
Kentucky has been playing well
Kentucky and MSU to advance.
*Welp, now that I'm wrong on KY, let's hope I miss just as badly on Sparty.
No don.
This game is proceeding so ugly compared to last night's games.
Can Viginia beat Kentucky?
Of course...I think KY would be the favorite though
I hate MSU more than anybody on this board. That being said, Duke hasn’t looked great.
When you get 35 points from Henry and Brown strange things are starting to happen...
It's funny, those are the exact reasons I expect Duke to win. They've looked sluggish while MSU has mostly breezed by and gotten a lift from their young guys. So I fully expect Duke to shoot 50% from three and for Nick Ward to single handedly ruin the season for them by being Nick Ward. It's Sparty Noooo season
Is this the slimiest quartet of coaches to ever coach in one day?
And if a few games had gone the other way, we wouldn't have had much of a drop-off. Kelvin Sampson would fit right in and Will Wade* certainly would've contributed to the cause as well.
*though the records will show neither he nor LSU participated in the tourney.
Seeing Sampson in that un-ironed blue button-up with the top 3 buttons undone just was the perfect personification of who he is. A guy who blatantly shows he’s a greaseball. Also, the shirt was Kentucky’s color which was kind of bizarre
Ordinarily, in a game between Duke and MSU, I'd root for Giant Meteor Strike. But ZION, man. I just want to see that kid play a couple more games before some shit pro team (oh, hey there, Knicks) utterly destroys him. Plus, Sparty can fucking kiss my ass. So, yeah, this one time only...
Go Duke
Tre Jones guarding Cassius will be intriguing...
Anybody but Duke.
Anybody but MSU
Purdue-Virginia last night was one of the more exciting games I can remember in recent tournament history. If I were a fan of either school, I might still be buzzed even now, although for vastly different reasons depending on the team.
That game kind of reminded me of Game 7 of the 2016 WS
I feel bad about how little I care about college basketball now that Michigan is knocked out. I haven't watched a single tourney game and will only occasionally check scores now. I remember when I was a kid never getting into March Madness because Michigan was never in it and I didn't care to watch a 64 team tournament of teams I had little to no interest in. When Michigan started making deep tournament runs, I definitely got the appeal of it, but I still check out after Michigan bows out.
Contrast that to college football, where I still watch most of the high profile games even if Michigan isn't apart of them. I guess college football just has an energy/pageantry that college basketball really can't match.
I don't really think you feel badly at all.
You basically just said "I like football and I don't like basketball". Which is totally fine.
Little bummed Purdue lost yesterday especially because they had the game and Edwards deserved a victory.
Hoping Duke crushes msu
I feel for their players, but it's a good thing when a team near Indianapolis continues their FF drought.
Indy is a very fertile recruiting base and we've gotten some very solid players from the area. The better Purdue does, the better their chance at landing kids from that area
Anyone but Kentucky and Duke.
I'm actually perplexed by all of the Go Duke from Michigan fans.
Duke basketball has pretty much always been the antithesis of Michigan basketball, which is why I've always hated them
