Don Brown apologist roll call. Reply here
December 29th, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
I would really love to see the people who act all high-and-mighty when Michigan beats Maryland and Northwestern try to defend this shit. Accuse people of being hot-take artists if you don't call Brown the best d-coordinator in the country. What a joke.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
The shine and polish are off.
December 29th, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
Shining a turd is hard.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:37 PM ^
That’s about 90% of the people on this board
December 29th, 2018 at 8:19 PM ^
The OSU game, 100% shitty coaching by him. But he's playing against Florida without an All American linebacker, two all-conference defensive ends either at all or at full strength, no depth at defensive tackle with Solomon gone, he lost a couple of guys during the game, etc. It wasn't a great performance by the defense, but that's a lot of talent not on the field to adjust for. And at some point, you've only got the guys you have to work with. People got mad Thomas isn't out there and I assume he should be, but if he can't dislodge anyone then that's a sign as well.
Brown needs to evolve his defensive schemes just like the offensive staff. But he didn't forget how to coach defenses that played much better against these types of offenses at other stops. I honestly don't know what's going on here with this staff, but the "now he's garbage" crowd are also off-base.
December 29th, 2018 at 9:05 PM ^
This was next year's defense though, for the most part. If anything, they'll probably be worse. Losing Winovich will be a big loss. The d line next year is going to be a big weakness.
December 29th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
No excuse for the OSU game but you can't lose the talent and experience and expect a good result.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:38 PM ^
Just what I was expecting. A Don Brown apologist. This board is filled with them
December 29th, 2018 at 9:09 PM ^
Right we can do better than the guy coaching a top 5 defense for the last several years.
December 29th, 2018 at 10:02 PM ^
You my friend are a raging apologist
December 30th, 2018 at 9:21 AM ^
The defense was not the reason we lost this game.
December 30th, 2018 at 10:09 AM ^
True. And our ball control offense, when it works, is a big part of browns success.
December 29th, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
So given that Michigan is going to lose even more talent and experience from the defense in the offseason, what are you expectations for the D next season?
December 29th, 2018 at 8:38 PM ^
I expect the defense to stink. Meaning we need to have a good offense, not going to if Shea can’t figure out how to hit open guys in the numbers. Might as well give McCaffrey a spin
December 29th, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Like any rational fan, if we don't win it all, it'll be a complete failure
December 29th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
103 points in 2 games is downright unacceptable.
December 30th, 2018 at 11:05 AM ^
Yup. That completely negates wins over PSU, mich St., Wisconsin, all big ten players and all Americans. Two bad games and we should just burn the whole thing down. Smh
December 29th, 2018 at 8:35 PM ^
I apologize I ever thought he was good. Is this how it's supposed to work?
Brown needs fired. He clearly can't tweak his system to work against good teams. Michigan D is plenty talented. His numbers are greatly improved due to the ball control offense. When that doesn't work... we get this.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:35 PM ^
103 points over the last two games of the year. Probably not the best defense in the country.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:42 PM ^
Paper tigers. Have been for quite a while. Excellent against slow ass Big Ten offenses, but all the holes show up against good/great teams.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Ill say it the millionth time.....I prefer Durkins D... this defense will send way too many players five yards upfield and leave nothing in the middle... a big gamble.... I prefer to see them rush 3, and blitz a fourth now and again, and contain....
December 30th, 2018 at 12:37 AM ^
Whose offense did Durkin's D contain?
December 29th, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
I think we have to come to terms with the fact that this defense cant really defend teams with any real speed on offense.
The defense actually made a lot of plays today - I bet you will see a lot of good defensive plays on the UFR. But all of the good was erased by a few big plays given up to blown coverages or a single missed tackle than ended up going for 50+
December 29th, 2018 at 6:08 PM ^
UFR?? Gahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa. You think Brian is going to watch that shit show again in exrutiating detail??
December 29th, 2018 at 3:36 PM ^
Frustrating to see other teams attack our weaknesses so easily.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
How about a defense??? When do we get one??? This is a disservice to all those hardworking kids to have this horrible scheme to make them look so bad on every big stage!!!
December 29th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Bush and Gary are helpful on defense!
December 29th, 2018 at 4:45 PM ^
Along with Solomon. Add in losing the backups to those 2 and it might start to hurt your defense
December 29th, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
Not having Bush in the middle hurt on numerous plays, QB draws and the third and 20 run. Of course, we won’t have Bush in the middle next year.
December 29th, 2018 at 8:14 PM ^
Not having Bush, Gary, Mone, and Solomon out there on defense pretty much confirmed all of the bad feelings I have about the D heading into next season.
December 30th, 2018 at 11:19 AM ^
I like bush in the middle
December 29th, 2018 at 5:38 PM ^
Losing Bush was a huge factor, but Gary is and always has been OVERRATED
Gary's production is easily replaceable. Whatd dude have 3 sacks this year. Gary has 9 sacks and 23TFL for his career at Michigan. What a joke. Josh Uche has had a quarter of the snaps yet already has 8 sacks for his career and had 7 this year when Gary went down
Just like Don Browns defense Gary's biggest weakness is OVER-pursuit of the QB
December 29th, 2018 at 6:04 PM ^
But he was the number 1 recruit so he is great! The guy has yet to develop any pass rush technique and he had better quickly or his first few years in the NFL will be frustratingly non productive.
December 30th, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
The overpursuit thing about Browns D would take two players out of play every time.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Until Michigan's defense can play zone coverage, we will continue to be exposed against good teams with elite athletes. Any team with a lot of time to prepare can and will expose a defense that is completely one dimensional. Playing only man coverage isn't "manly" or "tough". It's purely tunnel vision and refusal to acknowledge your weaknesses .
December 29th, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
I'm tired of this "It doesn't mean anything" meme bullshit on this board.
YES it does mean something. Recruits see this. It is an actual game that reflects our season, and where U-M stands as a team. It was embarassing and it DOES affect the program.
Also fuck Rashan, Kiran and JBB. They could have helped. Probably wouldn't have been enough, but at least maybe we wouldn't make them look like fucking Alabama. Hate the selfish attitude, and if they're that good and worried about their status they can take out an insurance policy. Devin's situation i understand.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
I agree with your feelings regarding Rashan, Karan, and JBB. Karan was a captain and Rashan was supposed to be some savior, but he didn't even reach his ceiling. They quit on their teammates. Guess what guys? You never won a championship or Beat OSU. Congrats on your times kicking Rutgers ass.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
Fuck you, too. Their teammates already didnt't have issue with it. Fuck you and your "The Team, The Team, the Team" attitude when our guys are busting their asses and get little in return from the NCAA/University.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Fuck you.
If they don't want to play in all the games, don't accept the role as a CAPTAIN.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
They've done more this year than you've done in your entire life.
They can do whatever the fuck they want if it's best for them and their teammates support it.
December 29th, 2018 at 6:12 PM ^
I'm not at all certain that their team mates supported it. Chase is on record as having been hurt by their decisions. I'm sure there was a lot of internal angst about it in the locker room. If you think otherwise, then I doubt you've been part of a real team before.
December 30th, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
You know jack shit what the players think about the decisions.
Spoiler alert: a lot of the guys aren’t happy!
December 29th, 2018 at 5:17 PM ^
Little in return? They get a six figure education for free!! The football players get free gear, have a platform to do good, and get to go onto make millions or graduate, debt free with a Michigan degree... man thats nothing lol bunch of indoor cats
December 30th, 2018 at 9:55 AM ^
Dude, they are treated like KINGS. This poor athlete being mistreated meme is total and utter bullshit without foundation. However, I do agree with your general sentiment that we shouldn't be criticizing their choices and that they have to do what they think is best for their future.
December 29th, 2018 at 4:48 PM ^
Watching their backups both get hurt (Pate and Gil) doesn’t influence your opinion? I’m pretty sure I know who is selfish here. Hint, it is you.
December 29th, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
So guys that care about their well-being are selfish?
Seriously, fuck people like you. People like you are shit bags that are embarrassments to society and why this country is ass backwards.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:03 PM ^
You are a real piece of shit. I hope you speak that way in person to some dude some day and he fucks you up.
I'd do it, but I threw my back out humping your mom.
December 29th, 2018 at 7:40 PM ^
How could you be humping his mom??? Because "I" was humping her too!
December 29th, 2018 at 7:41 PM ^
Annnnnd now we've gone full RCMB. Lovely.
