Some ND Info
August 22nd, 2018 at 6:58 PM ^
Great info. Thanks. I’m trying to temper my excitement for the season. And this urban situation has been a great distraction.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
Thanks for the great info Comrade. Seems to me that their DL against our OL is going to be the key matchup...
August 22nd, 2018 at 6:59 PM ^
What about the MSU scandal?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:07 PM ^
Nothing for you.....I think the OSU mess has taken over the billing. Screw
Sparty, just beat them and shut them up!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
Totally agree. Thanks for the update. Go Blue!!!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
I figured that could be the case. With all the effort reporters were forced to put into both OSU and Maryland the past few weeks its easy to see MSU taking a back seat. Maybe it'll break the week we play them!

Does the neighbor with the sister know Bill?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:04 PM ^
Nah, the neighbor is a Volleyball coach. But it counts. :)
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:01 PM ^
31-14
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
Damn Dr. stop it. Temper that a bit. You are getting me excited!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:03 PM ^
I get the sense that any chance ND has of beating us rests on the idea that their interior defensive line is going to dominate our offensive line, therefore making it a close, low scoring game. But if Bredeson, Ruiz and Onwenu (or Spanellis?) Live up to the hype of their recruiting status with the normalized gameplan and under Warinner's guidance, it could be a long day for ND. And a big day for our RBs.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:06 PM ^
I think Onwenu has pulled in front to stay for the opener.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:14 PM ^
Was his stamina/conditioning the biggest thing holding him back?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:07 PM ^
Thanks for the info.
i hope Jake Jarmel doesn't read this.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:08 PM ^
69-0 ... touchdown Jesus falls asleep on ND by the half
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:15 PM ^
69-0 will be the worst first half in Notre Dame history.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:09 PM ^
Thanks for the info.
Im guessing that means all returning starters have kept their jobs.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:11 PM ^
Thanks for the info! It was informative! And exclamatory!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:14 PM ^
"Issues" at RT. As frank as it gets. That Mayfield is getting a shot tells us...
Ugh. Basically the same position we were in last year at that spot, not good at all. Hopefully the level of play is at least a bit higher. In contrast, I feel pretty good about the interior.
Big news if ND is playing both QBs. We saw that it can be a disaster when we played Florida; however, against OSU the second QB was able to put a key drive together, and in a defensive struggle that was enough.
Great stuff, man.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
You continue to amaze me with your analysis. Did you coach at any level during your lifetime?
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
That's very kind of you to say. I have not. Holiday Inn Express, etc.
August 22nd, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
One thing Brian pointed out on the WTKA show is that Ole Miss' OL was as terrible as Michigan's, if not worse: Alabama NG/DTs were running up the gut unblocked on every other play. But because Shea could get the ball out quickly and evade the rush with his feet, Ole Miss' sack rate ranked in the 60s.
So, to me, an improved OL plus improved RB blocking plus vastly improved TE/WR plus vastly improved QB should mean more production.
August 22nd, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
RT doesn't sound as bad as last year. Mayfield pushing from behind > Ulizio pushing from behind. Second, JBB is now more of a known commodity and at least had rush game upside. Hudson clearly has upside and according to Webb, is likely to start next Saturday. All of that plus the transition from Drevno to Warriner.
If we get average pass pro from both tackles and Shea isn't an interception monster, the only thing stopping this team from a trip to the playoffs is a game in Columbus and then another potential one in Indianapolis.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:16 PM ^
Playing both Wimbush and Book would be the least surprising Brian Kelly move of all time.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:17 PM ^
I think it’s pretty obvious that ND’s plan will be to try to run the ball up the middle behind their best OL. If Solomon and Dwumfour can deliver on the hype then Michigan should be able to shut ND down.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
How many times has running the ball right up the middle worked against Don Brown?
August 22nd, 2018 at 8:39 PM ^
You’re right it hasn’t. And I don’t think they’ll be able to do it. But I think that’s the best plan of attack for them.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
I agree, they’ll try to run because Wimbush won’t be able to throw and we will be getting to whichever QB they put back there. It won’t work.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Intfermayshun!!!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:19 PM ^
You are an incredible asset to this board, sir. Thank you for your continued insight.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
It's crazy reading this and recognizing so many names that Michigan was recruiting. Kareem, Hayes, Bars, Mustipher, Tranquill. Shame.
If only RT is a question mark does that mean Runyan has locked down the LT spot? and I thought someone mentioned Will Hart as the starting punter for ND. Hopefully we don't need to punt at all
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:46 PM ^
one of the many reasons the M-ND games are so great...theyve recruited the same players forever and usually field similar rosters
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:20 PM ^
What is your score prediction for UM-ND if the game were played today?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:25 PM ^
You won't like it, so let's be optimistic instead.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
are you trying to keep things tempered? Outside of ND being at home, I don't see how we have difficulty with them. Especially with our defense.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
Why wouldn't I like it?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
He did originally predict 9-3 for the season, so this game may be in his 1 of 3.
THAT being said...
we got blanked by Notre Dame when we last played them; a loss will be utterly unacceptable.
August 22nd, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
He’s predicting an L like the analytics would say. It is HARD to win on the road at night. You need to be significantly better. Any Michigan fan that thinks we are going to cruise to a win, or even should win, will probably be sad Sept 2nd.
Theres a reason UMBig11 predicted 9-3. Talent improving, but schedule and weak points.
August 23rd, 2018 at 11:28 AM ^
This makes total sense but me and 95% of fans don't want to listen to that crap. We have waited 8 months and we shall be rewarded with awesomeness and splendor.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:21 PM ^
If their weaknesses are RB, WR, and QB they will have some serious issues on September 2.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:26 PM ^
What do you mean, they'll be sore from the game on September 1 or something?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
Well said. Field position, turnovers, which QB makes the least amount of mistakes.
Taking off my maize and blue blinders, I know this game is going to be a slugfest. Probably a 17-14 kind of final with plenty of three and outs. I like our defense’s chances, but their DL vs. our OL is probably going to be the key matchup.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:32 PM ^
It sure seems that way. Win the field position battle and make some plays. We need to win on 3rd down this year. Every possession needs to end with a kick. Extra point, FG, or punt! We win!
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
Just extending drives so the defense isn’t out there constantly. That’s really what killed them in 4 of the 5 losses. It wasn’t even scoring, it was just milking the clock and flipping the field.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:31 PM ^
This game has a 16-13 feel to it
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
Nice chunk of info there, thanks for that even though it sounds bad. I have a feeling this game is going to be decided by whether or not our d-tackles can hold up against the run or not.
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:51 PM ^
Anyone else find it weird that we barely heard anything about Aubrey Solomon all off season?
August 22nd, 2018 at 7:37 PM ^
I thought Hayes was leaving the program?
August 22nd, 2018 at 8:42 PM ^
Different Hayes. I was confused as well but looked it up in HTTV
August 23rd, 2018 at 4:47 PM ^
Boy, sure would be nice if HTTV had arrived by now... then I could look it up too and not get downvoted for asking these types of questions.
