We need a better coaching staff. Greg Mattison is on notice as is Borges. Both have done a subpar job this year.

It is not 2013's fault that our gameplans have been brutal all year. That will not miraculously change when January arrives.

With every game, I think we're all starting to realize more and more just how screwed we are with this coaching staff. It doesn't seem that they did one single thing to prepare for this game on the defensive side of the ball. There have been no apparent adjustments whatsoever on either side of the ball. Zero sense of urgency. The team looks weak and basically helpless out there. I'm not even sure it's a debate anymore; in a year or two we're going to be starting over again. This is depressing beyond belief.

I don't think its coaching. The players are subpar and the good players we do have are freshmen and sophomores. Once we get a Jabrill Peppers to replace Raymon Taylor etc. we will be much better.

No sense in getting upset. We might as well get used to it. This staff and AD, will be around till at least 2018. It's not all bad though, at least that clown DB... has a Michigan man at the helm.

UM would go through two subpar coaching staffs?
December 29th, 2013 at 12:41 AM ^
After dissecting your statement a little bit more, you're right. Subpar is the right word, and it's the staff as a whole. We're being outcoached. Shane can't catch the balls he's putting on the money. Tackling is incredibly poor. Zero gap responsibility, the zone is completely broken. This is higher up than the players. They're in a position to fail.

6 or more losses in 4 of the past 6 years. Dark days my friends.

I'm not bitching, but since this is a fairly meaningless game, the next best thing to a win is Shane's experience he is receiving.

Anyone watch the UFC tonight? Had it streaming on the computer. All I can say is wow!
December 29th, 2013 at 12:38 AM ^
That about made me throw up. I had to stop streaming immediately.

I watched it also. What a freak accident that was. Silva has to retire now. There is no way, at his age, he will be able to fight again after that kind of injury. He will struggled to walk normally for a while.
December 29th, 2013 at 12:42 AM ^
Yeah, I did. Miesha Tate did a pretty good job of defending, getting to the third round, but ultimately Ronda Rousey still won by armbar. Silva recovered pretty quickly from that punch - looked like he was out on replay, but man, freak break on the checked leg kick. Unfortunate.
December 29th, 2013 at 12:47 AM ^
The last fight I'll remember of Silva is his ridiculous antics and getting knocked out by Weidman last time. It's sad, really, because I'm a Silva fan. I hope the guy can walk normally again. I guess if Russ Smith could do it...
December 29th, 2013 at 12:52 AM ^
The ladies had a fantastic fight. Tate should of tried to stay on her feet instead of trying to take it to the ground. Rousey is way too powerful on the ground. Tate's corner gave her bad advice imo. The Silva injury was incrediblely disgusting. Weidman seems to be the real deal. He had him hurting early and the fight could have been called in the first. That actually would have saved Silva's career.
December 29th, 2013 at 1:00 AM ^
I don't blame Tate for trying to take Rousey down - but I'd say after you try and get taken down yourself (man, Rousey's judo is good!), then stop. Especially after it happens twice.
