noon games open thread
The noon slate isn't too great, but football is football. I suppose I will be watching the Northwestern/Iowa game.

Michigan should be able to PA Nebraska to death.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:39 PM ^
Oh man! Here we go. Come on, Iowa. Make this damned kick. An 0-4 NW team puts them out of the race. Hopefully Nebraska loses to MN and it will likely be between MSU and M.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:40 PM ^
Wow that game is almost over already?
Long kick coming for Iowa.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:43 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 2:45 PM ^
Iowa already has 2 conference losses and faces Wisconsin next week.
They aren't a threat. Only Nebraska (if they manage to come back) and State are threats.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:42 PM ^
Hm. Iowa goes for the long pass and gets picked.
BIG TEEEEEN
October 26th, 2013 at 2:42 PM ^
Seriously pounding on the blackshirts today.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:44 PM ^
In an alternate blog universe I wonder if Nebraska fans are currently going batshit about Bo Pelini and the defense at Nebraska?
October 26th, 2013 at 2:46 PM ^
For Husker fans going batshit over Bo Pelini and the defense, it turns out you don't need an alternate universe.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
Their Osborne era fans used to annual 10 and 1 seasons playing nobody in the Big Eight must find the modern era particularly loathsome.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:29 PM ^
Nebraska's most wins have come against Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:46 PM ^
Minnesota just willingly took a delay penalty to punt the ball.
I remember this not working out before in some game I cannot recall.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
We actually didn't do that on 4th down against PSU. (The delay penalty was before 3rd down.) We should have though, once it got to 4th down - five more yards and the punt probably lands inside the 10.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:48 PM ^
What a TD pass for Iowa. It looked like a prayer but fell right into the guy's hands.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:51 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 2:49 PM ^
Iowa scores a TD on their first OT posession.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:51 PM ^
4th and 8 for NW
October 26th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
NW loses on a Colter run for negative yards. Wow.
Was that the play call or was it a broken down pass play?
Edit: Gamecast updated, it was a sack.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:55 PM ^
It was a pass. It looked as if the OLine doubled someone and then an Iowa player came in unblocked. No idea who or positions but it was pretty doomed.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
Once again Northwestern was the popular "surprise" pick before the season, and once again it doesn't happen for them.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:56 PM ^
Their Under Armour uniforms are still awesome though.
Hear me Dave Brandon.

October 26th, 2013 at 2:54 PM ^
Iowa beats Northwestern 17-10 in OT.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:55 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 2:57 PM ^
I agree, after the first OT that is. There was no point in playing for a TD after Ficken missed his kick.
Damn that Gibbons and his low kicks.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
The team that goes first always plays for a TD. We did in the 2nd and 4th OTs.
The team that goes second adjusts its playcalling based on what happened in the previous half-inning. If Iowa had gone second and NW not scored, they'd have played for a FG as well.

I agree. Somehow that team will be up for us (and MSU). Lets not forget they played OSU tough at home. Mark is obviously a big key.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:56 PM ^
Just, wow Northwestern. The trendy pick to win the B1G is now 0-4 in conference play and out of any shot at Indy.
October 26th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
Couldn't have happened to a better guy.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:15 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
685 yards of offense combined in the Nebraska-Minnesota game. Strangely, and although it may seem like a lot more, Nebraska only averages 395 yards allowed per game. They are not quite there yet - Minnesota would still need about 28 more yards to get to typical Nebraska performance. Actually, that doesn't seem like a good thing for them necessarily.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:00 PM ^
Unfortunately for us, the Colter and Mark show will be full speed and will more than likely give us hell when we visit.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:03 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 3:06 PM ^
So there's that.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
Where does all this blind faith in NW come from?
Yeah, they took us to OT last year, but they were a better team in general then. This year they've looked mediocre all season. And at this point team chemistry is probably shot to hell, after four straight losses.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:07 PM ^
All depends on if Mark is back or not. They just aren't the same team without him.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:08 PM ^
Even with him they looked mediocre. They were better offensively, but still terrible in the red zone, and didn't play much D then either.

Miami back in front. Based on how they have looked against inferior competition and the fact that the game is in Tallahassee FSU should be at least a 2 TD favourite. Miami fans blamed the close call at UNC on being on the road. Can't use that excuse this week (although their own stadiumg is yet again half empty).
October 26th, 2013 at 3:03 PM ^
Freaking Gophers. They better not blow this game. A Nebraska loss is very important for Michigan.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
Miami is overrated, I think.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
Gutsy call by WF. Going for it on 4th and 5 with about 4 to play from your own 45.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
And damn. Wake Forest just took the lead against Miami. Four minutes left.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:07 PM ^
October 26th, 2013 at 3:10 PM ^
Urban Meyer might have something to say about that.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:11 PM ^
Baylor.
Their conference opponents so far they already played have won a total of 6 games.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:13 PM ^
Baylor at the very least has blown away their competition. Miami has not. Not even close.
October 26th, 2013 at 3:15 PM ^
Georgia Tech alone has won almost as many games as Baylor's Big 12 opponents so far.
